Champion 6931 Bellingham, Washington | Subject: RE: Game of Thrones on HBO - Getting Excited? I'm in the middle of Book 3 A Storm of Swords. (also rewatching the HBO rerun on Comcast) So much of the story moves on and evolves and changes. I'm wondering if the next season that they work on would stick strictly to the Clash of Kings book? I googled some info and found out they hired an actress to portray Brienne ( who seems to be more in Book 3). And there sorta a firestorm about this actress being to pretty as compared to the discription of her in the book.....
Still hate Joffrey, and Arya and Tyrion are still the best characters. |

Me too, I'm about to finish book 1 and I'm debating about starting in on book 2 or waiting till next season. Wish I had something else lined up that I wanted to read.... |

Funny. Exactly where I am. Just watched ep. 3 last night, and when King Robert asks what Aerys said as Jaime stabbed him in the back, he said "he said what he'd been saying for hours.... 'Burn them all.'" Takes on a whole new meaning.... I am really looking forward to seeing how they depict the Battle on the Blackwater..... actually, there's a lot of things I am looking forward to seeing how they do it... and hoping it's not cheesy. They did a good job with the dragons |

Extreme Veteran 550 Vine Grove, KY | Subject: RE: Game of Thrones on HBO - Getting Excited? Just over halfway through book 2 and it is much better than book 1. All of the story lines are good. Jon beyond the wall, Tyrion may be my favorite character, Stannis and the witch, Arya...all awesome. I will try to go back and rewatch all the episodes again over the fall and winter when I get some time. I'm trying to picture in my head how and what they will show in season 2 and its gonna be some awesome stuff. The original director bailed b/c of low funds though right? I hope its not gonna be cheesy or they bail on certain aspects of the story b/c of price (i.e Tyrions battle from book 1). |

They dont have the budget to do scenes like the battle of Minas Tirith as Peter Jackson did it ... candidly Tyrion leading the hill clans of the vale into battle in AGOT was silly, Tyrion is tiny, he isnt a warrior. I liked how they did it in AGOT on HBO with him getting knocked out. Still, I am looking forward to the battle of the Blackwater scence which should be the final episode of ACOK next season. After you read the books go back and watch the series, you will appreciate it more. Personally, i think the series is better than the book. |

Master 1480 Southwest Chicago 'burbs | Subject: RE: Game of Thrones on HBO - Getting Excited? I just finished LISTENING to book 1 (all 33+ hours worth!) and WOW. I kind of picked it up on a whim, wasn't impressed with it for the first, probably, 10 hours but then it really picked up. And when it ended?? And HOW it ended??! ARGH! So - i just downloaded book 2 ... 37+ hours (book 3 is 49 hours, I think!)... and am just starting that. It'll take me weeks to get through it. Makes me want to schedule a road trip just to have time to listen. And now I REALLY want to see the show! Of course, I don't get HBO so I'll have to find another way to get my hands on it... |

Champion 6931 Bellingham, Washington | Subject: RE: Game of Thrones on HBO - Getting Excited? Just finished book 3. Never look up stuff on wiki pedia. Maybe characters is ok , but stay away from the plot/synopsis. Spoils the fun of who gets killed and how. Also alot of internet gossip and teasers about season 2. As much as I've seen so far, looks like it might be a mix of book 2 and 3? I'm probably wrong though. Edited by BellinghamSpence 2011-08-29 10:35 AM |

Was really bummed about one of the chapters about Theon towards the end of the book, but was then relieved. Don't want to spoil anything. Season 2 of the show should be good, but you wonder what they will delve into. |

I didnt start reading the first book until the first season was nearly over. Hopefully I can rewatch it all again before next season. I'm always in need of some good trainer material. Champion 6931 Bellingham, Washington | Subject: RE: Game of Thrones on HBO - Getting Excited? Hang in there and keep watching. You might have to rewatch a couple episodes (actually I've watched all the episodes again like twice) to catch who was talking about what/who. The further you get into the episodes the more clarity there is... I also liked the HBO website about GOT. Has maps and a family tree of the characters. |

I'm slowly working my way through book 4 also. Whatever happened to Osha and Rickon? How have they stayed hidden. Also trying to figure out who is left out of the litter of Dire Wolves. Sansa's wolf is dead, and so is Robb's. Not sure about Arya's Nymeria... 2 out of 6? |

Book five will explain a little way book four was done the way it was.... Yes two out of the six direwolves are dead. As you said before hang in there! I am about 200 pages into book five and it is dealing with the characters that were left out of book four. Four was introducing new characters so it needed the room left with not dealing with the ones in five, basically. |

But there is a glimpse in Book 4 when Sam is sailing to Baavos. We are all looking forward to meeting Princess Arienne of Dorn. Not tryin to be cagey Trying not to post too many spoilers.
