I agree, both teams should have at least been asked about, but if they ounish one, then they should punish both involved. I was surprised that Phil did not call them out or ask about it. He often does on things that occur during the leg. I think the reality of it is that this is a very heavily edited entertainment program that is very thoroughly thought out what you see and don't see, what is said and not said. Tons of people talking about it. Mission accomplished. |

![]() jldicarlo - 2012-11-05 12:56 PM jford2309 - 2012-11-05 2:36 PM wasn't there a leg last season, maybe two seasons ago where a team hid the tools used in a challenge and they got penalized? I see no difference The difference is the Rockers DROPPED their money...they LOST it. Another team PICKED IT UP. Wholly different than deliberately taking tools/equipment/etc. from what is deemed a race safe spot (I would bet that actually taking another team's backpack is against the rules for example). I guess I don't know what the significance of "lost" is. Either one of thm absent mindedly put it down (i do that with something every day), or it fell out of their pocket (it's not clear from the show as they didn't show it, nor was it clear what it was sitting on). So what? If the twins were walking down the street and found $100, good on them. In a closed environment, with 2 other teams, in bangladesh (how many people walking around with $100 US in twenties)..... and they knew whose money it was .......sorry. "lost" does not excuse the actions of those that "found" it. I guess that's how I see it. It is not about what happened "to" the money - lost, put down, whatever - on the rockers side. It's about what the twins and Texas did with the money. Simply, 100% wrong. If $1 Million is worth stealing someone else's property for a game, I guess it is. I would not have, that is an easy call for me. Edited by ChrisM 2012-11-05 4:04 PM |

Probably more to keep Texas quiet about it, since it seemed the guy wanted to say something. |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I see Jen's point (dropped versus "stolen"), but I think we can all agree it was a shady move. Sometimes these things are corrected in a scene early in the next episode. We'll see.... I wonder if the crew told the producers & Phil about what happened and they just didn't have the time to decide what to do, or perhaps decided to let it go since the Rockers worked it out? I JUST NEED TO KNOW!!! |

Master![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() jldicarlo - 2012-11-05 2:34 PM I am apparently a horrible person. Sue me. Not saying I would have done what they did...but I probably wouldn't have just handed it back to the rockers either...this is a game...for a million dollars...a game in which the way to win is to capitalize off your competitors mistakes...sad, but true. The last leg always ends up being everyone getting off the plane at the same time...you have to be good AND you have to hope your competition messes up.
It's one thing to hope your competition messes up but to "steal" their money is wrong. It may not be against the rules but I just don't want to win by stealing. I won't win a race by letting the air out of anyone's tires.
If I saw a person in front of me at the store drop $5 and picked it up and said "finders keepers" even though I just saw it happen and know who it belongs to that is stealing in my book. I understand this is the internet and what we say is not really reality like it is if we were in the situation. I would have given it back to them but probably prefaced it with a "you owe me one" type of thing. Nothing wrong with that. No money can end your game it seems the producers rigged this one. I would bet in the future this is addressed within the rules of the game due to the outcry of this act. |

No it's the same. The twins deliberately hid the money. If they didn't know who it belonged to at all that is a different story but that isn't the case here.

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Interesting episode. I was not expecting the to be continued! Finally, some challenges that were actually HARD! :D And finally...some separate flights causing mayhem! Though, I am mystified how only two teams found that flight arriving at 2am. Not that it did them a lot of good. James and Jaymes in speedos...HAWT. :D But, they are a bit skinnier than I thought! :D I'd still like Kido to give them my number. :D The previews for next week make it look like Abby and Ryan survive....Abby is pictured doing the challenge one of the Chippendales appears to struggle in. My prediction is that the rockers don't find their passport in time and both of the two straggling teams move on. Abby and Ryan are either finally released by the Goat Farmers, or the Goat Farmers choose to take the penalty rather than do the challenge. Then they get to the end and find out that they get to continue because the rockers lost their passport. What exactly did Abby/Ryan and the Goat Farmers think will happen at the end if they both show up at the mat at the same time? What WOULD happen if the two last place teams did that? |

Master![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Good episode. That sucks for the rockers. It seems to happen every once in a while on this show where a cab takes off with all their gear. I guess the lesson learned here is to keep at least your passport on your actual person. The syncronized swimming looked pretty hard to get down right. I don't blame the twinnies for wanting to leave if they couldn't get past the language barrier. That was one task I thought Jame and Jaymes would do well at since they can dance on a count. Good for them breaking out of the middle of the pack.
Very surprised by the "to be continued" |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() The editing sure makes it seem like only Abby and Ryan got through, but I agree that I thought the Beakman Boys end up squeaking by somehow. I know it's easy for me to say, but I am always nervous when teams leave their stuff with the cab like that. I would NEVER in a million years leave my stuff in a cab unless my travel partner was also in it. I am sure they are tired of hauling their crap around. Why didn't they ask for help from the police? Well, if they can't keep going at least they can probably look forward to coming back on All Stars like Zev and Justin. I wish the Chippendales had let Twinnies just use the Express Pass and get it out of the way. They might be regretting that advice next leg. Jaymes is a total hunk! I like James too, but wow... That was Hysterical! The Belly Flops! Ouch. I felt VERY bad for Brent. Until I got into triathlon I had very little swimming skills and even today doing a back flip in the water would freak me out. My hope is they decide to take the time penalty and send Abby and Ryan on. I don't see how after all that traveling, and being a weak swimmer (and they said hungry), that Brent would get any better. Yeah, I don't get the pact to race together at all. I am sure one of the teams would somehow manage to the reach the mat a split second before the other and they would get the higher spot. It would be nearly impossible to orchestrate a tie. |

Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I just know how I am. I have to have my stuff with me. I'm in a race for a million dollars, and in a foreign country and don't speak the language. I would always take my stuff with me.... and as far as passport...that is your ID... in a foreign country, where you don't speak the language.... that would be right next to my most valued possesion at all times. I took the pact to mean they would do the same challenges... but waiting for each other to finish to the end... sorry, that is not something I would agree to. What is the point? It is still a race, between in the race and out of the race. I don't get that at all. And the express pass... seems that the teams that have it always seem to say they will use it to save their bacon as soon as they get it... and then freak out and use it for stupid reasons. First the twins want to bail... OK I suppose... but they make it through and next leg they want to use it to "push them to win the leg"??? Are you serious? WTF does winning a leg do for you if you get bunched up and then lose the next one and go home? If you still have the pass on the last leg you can use it... then turn it in for first place. Seems the pass just gets in the teams head and they want to panic and bail out at the first sign of adversity... where as if you don't have it, there is no need to think that way and you just go do the challenge... which is the most important part of any unknown task... just comitting to do it. As far as the rockers... well you would think production staff would be on the phone tracking down the cabbie with contacts they have to have in each country. Forget the race... you still have American citizens in a foreign land that can't leave the country and can't prove who they are. That's a problem. They are still loosing time. Not sure how that one is going to turn out. |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I swear I saw the two bags sitting against the rail in one of the pan shots. They were off in the distance near that parking lot, but sitting there. It was after they finished the lock task. It was like the cabbie took them out of the cab and leaned them against the fence. Anyone DVR it that can go back and review it? Would like to know if I am losing my mind. It would be a shame if the rockers get the boot. They are one of my favorite teams. To be continued ... really...
PS.. really wish the twinnies would implode. Just in case you didn't already know. |

PS.. really wish the twinnies would implode. Just in case you didn't already know. Tough to say. I had to watch it on line this morning and went back to take a look. Seemed there was stuff by the busses, but that might have been from someone on the bus. Then it seemed there was other stuff, but that it was part of the fence because they were all the way down. When they finished the camera sort of zoomed into the distance, and it looked like it might be two bags. That might be the part you were talking about... but that was really far away from where the cabbie dropped them off. It would seem to me when they walked down the street looking for him, that they would have naturally keyed into something that was theirs if they saw it. They did walk down the road that far thinking someone else was the cabbie. Tough to say, but I think all that stuff was something that was part of the fence. Usually when teams miss something, the production team highlights it to clue the viewers in. So I don't think it was on the side of the road. I can be totally wrong. Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I agree, though, that they did zoom in on something (which I thought was going to be their cab) off in the distance in a purposeful way... Good point about the production crew wanting to protect at least the passports of the contestants, because it will be royal pain to get new ones in Russia. It's one thing to get a new passport in Switzerland (literally a fee, a new pic, and a long morning, don't ask...) than in a country where you need a visa to enter. Yikes. |

Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Yes, that was unfortunate for the rockers and I wonder how that will be resolved. Will they just be out or will they incur some kind of penalty? They have become my sentimental favorites. I thought the challenges in the library and the pool were really tough especially if you do not have a comfort level in the pool. What if you just didn't know how to swim? I guess the goat farmer wasn't too far from that. Lastly, I can understand the pact between the last two teams that missed their connection to stay together at least until they got to the next challenge but I think that pact should have ended when the race was back on at the pool. Very strange that they would risk elimination. Being noble is one thing but I think they went too far with the gesture.

If you don't have your passport you are OUT. A passport is required to play the game because you cannot travel otherwise. I guess if they can somehow get a new one they can continue if it's a non elimination leg, but if not, they are done. Re: pact. It would have been impossible to predict if the challenges would be something that you could or could not work together on. I mean, if they had done the library one then they could definitely have helped each other. They ended up with a challenge that it's impossible to help...it would have been the same if it was a dance or something you had to do. If they'd had to build something they could help each other....if they'd had to carry something they could too. We don't know how long Abby and Ryan stay...Ryan said something like "we gotta stay to watch the boys, they watched us" which leads me to believe they MAY abandon the boys. If I were the boys and I didn't get the task soon I'd tell them to leave. Sticking together in a bigger city like Moscow isn't as vital (the idea here being that unlike the third world countries you have just left more people here speak English so you are much less likely to get lost). As for the challenges, they were tougher than usual. But there was the non-swimming option...it's just that the library was closed. Which is kinda cruddy. I didn't think most of the detour sites really CLOSED. The race usually arranges to keep them open. But maybe they couldn't in this case. Sometimes I think that the race deliberately schedules the first departure to make sure people will get to a country at a convenient time. They used to say the rest periods were a mandatory 12 hours, but they don't say that anymore. I think they pick the rest interval based on knowing what time people need to be in the next country. In this case everyone got to Moscow nice and early in the morning so the library would be open all day....unless you are the team that missed your connection. Which reminds me...I guess another good rule of thumb on this race would be that if you are going to go somewhere with a short connection you MIGHT want to make sure you know when the next flight out of that place would be if you missed your short connection. Because it would probably be better to get in an hour later by taking a different flight than get in 12+ hours later because you missed your connection and the next one isn't until the next day or whatever. Either way, these two teams (even if they survive this leg) are REALLY far behind. Looks like a good 12 hours (the other teams getting held up waiting for that park to open really helped). That's almost more than a gather up flight can catch them up...I mean, that's enough that they could end up a whole DAY behind at some point.... |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hmmm...just did some reading on the Amazing Race Wikipedia entry. I knew that they had to fly with their camera crew, but didn't realize they deliberately refilm the teams asking for two tickets instead of four. Funny. Editing does a really good job because that's actually rather hard to tell. Also, the wiki says that anyone who appears on camera the TEAM (not the production crew) has to get them to sign a release before they can move on. That would definitely make you not want to stop and ask random strangers on the street for directions! Interesting...that alone could really add a lot of time to your day if it doesn't go smoothly! |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I am a HUGE AR fan from season one. Anyone remember when they used to do really hard physical tasks that took a long time? AND in the first season or two, they had to find and make their own flight arrangements. Sometimes teams ended up a couple of days and countries or continents spread apart, and that led to logistical nightmares for the crew and Phil. Now there are typically a few flights already arranged for them to 'select' and they do re-film the purchase as they have to book their crew, too. I am not sure if they still do it, but in earlier seasons the ones who are eliminated don't go home, they go to an undisclosed hideout where they stay until the finals. That should be an interesting house to live in! I have also watched both seasons of Beekman Boys on Netflix, and let me tell you they are VERY SMART getting on AR, even if they get eliminated right away. (I don't think they care as much as others about that). The tall one was once a drag queen and is the one who works in town during the week, because his job pays the most. The short one is an MD, but worked for Martha Stewart Living for a long time. He is all about creating a BRAND with their farm lifestyle and products (artisan goat's milk cheese and soaps) and this show gives them TONS of free publicity. They are crafty smart that way. |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Okay, now that the episode is over, Brent resurrected my faith in mankind by actually understanding what UTC is. WOW. Let's see... First, they didn't show the times they were leaving...that usually means there were shenanigans involving the arrival/departure times...interesting. Trey/Lexi & Jaymes/James working together...interesting. They probably just wanted to ensure they would stay out front. I don't agree with where the Twins used their Express pass. They should have at least tried the task...the detour could have been super hard and that task easy....I would have at least TRIED the task once... Not much else to say...hate to see a team go out over something like a lost passport. Preview for next week look interesting...if Abby and Ryan have another flight fiasco I will actually feel pretty bad for them. And there is another double u-turn...interesting... I am actually OK with all the remaining teams....not sure who I'd like to see win... |

Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Ya, that was pretty anticlimactic. You could see the passage of the day, they were all spread out, and the rockers had no passport. Shame to see them go. OK... on a race around the world... you would think they would have an understanding of time zones by now. And just looking... hello... it's just zones, the next one over is an hour!!! IDK, I guess you could get side tracked... I mean boy genius was on his 20 something test, doing the same thing each time... but ya, the test is wrong. WOW! Other than that... meh. |
