Extreme Veteran 468 Webster, Ma | Subject: RE: Timberman - Half Iron : Official Thread Who has figured out where they are going to stay for the race? I am still not sure if I am going to stay Fri, Sat, and Sun night or just Sat and Sun night. I need a bed to sleep in so I can't get into camping anywhere. I would definitely like to get up there and at least check out the bike course. We should plan something in the coming months! |

This will be my first HIM as well....couldn't be more excited! I have a few other races in the mix leading up to Timberman, and my training plan actually starts today. I feel like the race is going to be here before I know it! I'm staying Friday through Monday. I have some friends and family that are heading up with me, so I figured I'd make a long weekend out of it. I'm staying in a condo I found through Vacation Rental By Owner (www.vbro.com). Happy Training! |

Pro 4828 The Land of Ice and Snow | Subject: RE: Timberman - Half Iron : Official Thread How is everyone's training going? I am not so sure about my plan.....using one of the BT ones and it has too much crazy swimming and not enough awesome biking. So I am sorta doing my own thing a lot of the time......which defeats the purpose of a plan I suppose!! |

Master 1410 White Plains NY | Subject: RE: Timberman - Half Iron : Official Thread I just rode the bike course this morning. I am glad that I did! I was not expecting a few of those hills, especially on route 107 leading up to Leavit road, and then riding back up Leavit road on the return. Route 106 was fast on the way out, but I got hit by a headwind the entire way back. A few of those rolling ups got me as well. Overall I'd say its a challenging course that will make you work! Im looking forward to the water getting warmer because I was ready to hop in for a cool down afterwards. |

I had it in my head that it was Country Club road that I was to turn at. Frank Bean road turns into Country Club road. I won't miss that turn again!.....even though there will be a sign and someone directing me @ the race. haha |

Champion 6046 New York, NY | Subject: RE: Timberman - Half Iron : Official Thread So rode the course Sunday - yes it is a challenge on the way back - headwind (and sunday was wicked cold) and uphill (false flat) so it is work. I was expecting the hill on Leavitt to get to me on the way back but that was ok - the hard part was that there was still another 12 miles....and I so wanted to be done! 106 is in the process of being repaved - where there is new pavement it is HEAVEN - so smooth! but the first part after you turn off Leavitt - and then the last part - is rough - which on the way out, with the slight downhill makes you hold back a bit. Hopefully they are repaving the whole thing??? glad we have 3 months to train! I need it! |
