I know how to dress for a run in those conditions, but what is the wind chill on a bike, wet, at that temp? Edited by Polliwog 2010-03-23 7:30 AM |

I know how to dress for a run in those conditions, but what is the wind chill on a bike, wet, at that temp? I think it depends on how much sun and when you go in the swim. I think some people don't start til noon or so and it will be plenty warm by then. You could always pack some arm warmers for the bike. |

With the current forecast I'll probably wear a one-piece tri suit and put on arm warmers for the bike and remove in t2 or during the run. it is a short enough race that coldness won't be too bad. |

New user 97 Virginia | Subject: RE: Smithfield Sprint Triathlon : Official Thread Well, i tried to drive the bike course tonight and i got so effn lost out in the sticks it was crazy. i realized this when i hit 13 miles and i was not back at the ymca LOL needless to say i drove miles out of the way to get home. So anyway from what i did see, it seems like a tough little ride with a decent amout of hills and a few tricky turns. I dont see a fast time coming out of me |

I dont see a fast time coming out of me I assure you that you will disagree with this assessment after the race. It is much faster than it looks. I know your feeling, I felt that way when I saw it last year, but the rolling hills in the direction we go seem to more often than not provide enough oomph to get up the next one. |

I was originally thinking just some arm warmers in T1 - but not sure based on the latest, seemingly accurate, forecast of upper 40s when I'll be on the bike. |

Bringing cycling jacket and arm warmers, will decide when I get there. Toe covers would be nice too, though I all I have is full neoprene boots, a bit too much for 10 miles. Might have to swing by the shop, I hate cold toes while riding. |

I'm now thinking cycling jacket, a fairly significant one, and maybe skip the arm warmers. I mean, it is only 10 miles, how long will you REALLY be out there? I think I can handle 30 minutes of coldness. |

I'm not sure when I'll get out there exactly, but may try to do the 10 miles. |
