We are staying at the Country Inn and Suites in a suite with full kitchen.  It is right smack in the middle of things.

We are staying at the Ermitage Du Lac for the 70.3, right in the middle of things as well. Booked a 2 bedroom suite - 4 adults & 2 kids. You should book something soon, we booked last week and they said that Pedestrian Village is almost completely booked for IM in Aug.

Thanks!

I checked it out and we are staying for Monday-Friday at the Les Westin (nice hotel). Then for the weekend we will be staying in a loft/suite as my parents will be coming down.

Really looking forward to visting Tremblant.

The Westin looks really nice, Tremblant looks like a great venue we are looking forward to it as well looks like there is lots to see & do! My wife & I are doing the 70.3 in June our first 1/2!!! Good luck with your training and the race!!

I'm doing both. The HI will be a good long day to enjoy and get to know the circuit (hills) before my first full IM. I have booked a condo (close to T zone) to accommodate my family and extended family, for a week in Aug, but I haven't made any arrangements for the HI since I plan to travel alone.

Does anybody know of an inexpensive and clean place to stay for 1-2 nights? I'm opened to drive 15-20 min to the villa if necessary to save some $$.

Fred Doucette - 2011-10-05 9:43 AM Question? Are most of the people on this thread Canadian? I'm from Pennsylvania, just curious.

San Francisco here.

OK, next question for the group.... is this your first IM? If not, which IMs have you done before?

Also why did you all pick IMMT?

I'll play.

1. not my first.  will be my 10th depending on how you count.

2. Vineman x2, IM Lanzarote, IM Moo, IM LP, Silverman, IM NZ, IM SG, and will have hopefully completed IM Melbourne next year also prior to IM MT

3. I typically pick a race that I haven't already done, is challenging, and is ideally in a part of the world I haven't yet visited.  IM NT fits all three of these.

Very fun - and interesting to learn about our fellow racers.

First, I am Canadian - living in Toronto

It will be my first full iron distance (whoa!)

Picked Tremblant for a few reasons. My husband did IMC back in 2007 and we had talked about going out there for 2012 so we could both do it and make it a big trip for the 30th anniversary of the race.  They announced Tremblant just after we had bought a house and it made a lot of sense to sign up for this instead of IMC - it would be a beautiful race, it's still in Canada which is nice but not necessary and it would save us a ton of travel cost over going to BC. We're still going to make a trip of it but it's nice that even though it's still a long drive (or a short plane trip since Porter flies there from downtown Toronto now) we can go at least once to check out the course (if not more for skiing).

Anyway, i hope this fall is going well for everyone. I am struggling to get back into a groove after backing out of my September HIM. One of my only DNS - since i sprained my ankle pretty badly 10 days out from the race ... maybe someone can lend me some motivation?

I live 45 min NW of Toronto.

IMMT will be my first full after two HI Muskoka (2010 - 2011)

Why MT? I was planning on doing either IMPL or IMC but then they open this one in Quebec which is not that far from home. I'm familiar with the area and It's a good opportunity to see how much french my kids have learned at school !!!

I usually don't train much in winter time but this year will be different. I needed to have a goal in order to go out for a run with -15C (5F).

****

1.  This will be my 6th.  I wonder if we will find it rare that someone will do MT as their first?

2.  Done LP, FL, WI, B2B, and AZ

3.  Picked MT because friends wanted to do their first IM and I did not want to repeat a race, and MT is the only MDOT option within driving range that I haven't done before except for Louisville (which I don't want to do a TT swim) or NYC (wave swim, expensive, and nothing new and fun about the area).  Always wanted to go to Quebec, so this is a great way to visit.

This is my first IM.  In fact, I haven't even done a HIM yet!  I had one scheduled for the end of August and the race was cancelled about 2 weeks before - GRR.  Currently looking to do one in the spring.

I don't really know why I picked IMMT.  I wasn't planning on doing one quite this soon - was thinking more like 2013-14 but when this was announced, it really peaked my interest and when I sent it out to a bunch of my friends who do tris as well, there were quite a few that were going to sign up (most of whom have already done IMs) so I jumped on the bandwagon.    There are about 10 people local to my area that are signed up.  It's about a 14 hour drive for us.
