I am in. I signed up as soon as it opened. My name does not show in the participant list. Started to worry. Found out that I did not check the box to share my registration. I have all of my confirmations emails, so I am good. I cannot wait!

w00t...lots of local BT peeps!

I wonder if the total number of participants we see on the website counts folks who did not check that box. Hmmmm...Interesting.

Right now it's saying 1,368

In.  No way I could pass up a WTC race in my backyard.  I always stress about unfamiliar courses but the mix of familiar terrain and familiar faces is going to be amazing regardless of the weather.

I know that the list does not include me since I did not check the box, so the participants could be a little higher than what is showing.

I'm signed up too, along with 16 friends!!! We're actually going to form a "team" with tacky T-shirts. There's been talk of glitter and tassles and unicorns. Watch out!

Hemmed and hawed about whether or not to sign up. But Mrs. Fatmouse told me to. So, I'm signed up.

Now, just gut through or actually train so I can race it? Haven't been on my bike since May and struggling to run more than 4 miles.

Any Apex area types want to set up a training group for rides?

Yeah, you and qrkid tag-teamed pretty effectively. I say we start training in Feb...qrkid can start in may and will still leave me in the dust.

There are about a dozen Sandspurs Tri Club members based out of Pinehurst/Southern Pines signed up for the race.  We are really only about an hour away from the race start.  We should keep in touch and coordinate some group rides once it gets closer to race day.

Good Luck to all those racing (I realize this is really, really early)!!!!

However most of my friends were like , No, To hot, or Raleigh no big deal , Not I am not going to race...That was about 2 weeks ago...I swear almost everyone has had a change of heart and is now signed up....less then 400 slots left better hurry before the rest change there mind.

Anyone else beside Carol on here have a change of heart and is now pumped.

Do you guy's know if there is an age limit? or anyone can do it... also it's going to be tough deciding whether to do it or not, cause it's the weekend before finals... aka cram week, ahhh but I want to do this HIM so bad!

It says 18 here:

Ya, I would think it would be very hard to focus on finals while planning for a big race! good luck whatever you decide.

I might just convince my mom to let me, and how do they know you're 18? Could I sneak in/lie somehow?

No, I don't think you can fake your age. All USAT sanctioned events require a driver's license on check-in. There are plenty of other race options, even half iron distance races, where you can participate even if under 18. How about White Lake half or B2B half? I see 16 and 17 year olds in prior year race results. Those races are cheaper too.

I was at a usat race today and they didnt check I'd, but they said they would, I think it's cause they were all messed up and had a late start etc...And I wanted to do the soonest half I could, because there's no way I could stay motivated to train for a race a year away, so that's why Raleigh was ideal, plus it's not to far from my home. Do you know of any in SC or Virginia in early spring maybe?

Do not lie about your age to participate. That's dangerous legally. Search trifind for early season HIMs. Also consider the FS50 and IOS100 in Washington NC in May.

I have heard good things about the Try Charleston Half in April in SC.  It is also put on by Set Up Events, the same people as White Lake Half and Beach 2 Battleship.
