I NEED to study for my career (I procrastinated) so my kindle whispers to me to read whilst I have my seismic design guidelines and international building codes out (which is a WONDERFUL read BTW - Probably on par with GoT.) Ha! Uh-oh! Well why not read when you need a break from studying? |

The IBC is only like 2000 pages. You can hammer that out in an afternoon and get to the good stuff. lol I probably have read every single page in the IBC at one time or another . Chapter 4 MANY more times. Unfortunately, I've probably looked at section 420 of the CBC over 100 times - the California amendments to the IBC make section 420 about 30 pages long (420 is about I-1 (hospitals)) I've got 1-5, but I'm trying to hold myself to keep pace with the show. So I read book 1 during the first season, read book 2 after season 1, read book 3 last spring. But that means I won't be able to read book 4 till next year lol. |

There can a lot of blah-blah-blah on some pages. So skimming can work. |

But I was planning to get the 5 book set. I'm a hearing correctly that the story doesn't wrap up by the end of the books? There are more to come?
PLEASE don't let it be like the Gunslinger books from Stephen King that took like 15 years to finish. It was supposed to be a trilogy. Now it's supposed to be 7 books. Book 1 was published in 96, so it's already been 17 years, and he's only writing the 6th book now . He's got the plot worked out to write the 7th book (he told it to the HBO guys in case he dies before finishing it), but it seems to take him about 5 years to write each book (#3 in 2000, #4 in 05, #5 in 11)
I started reading these when book 2 came out. I got tired of waiting for book 4 and so I told myself I wouldn't pick them back up until the series was finished. Now that I'm watchign the show I want to start reading them again. The worst one for me is the Wheel of Time series. Book 1 published in 1990. I picked it up around 97. Last book came out in January 2013. What an incredibly long time to wait for an ending. Robert Jordan even died before he could finish them. |

257 | Subject: RE: Game of Thrones - BOOKS Discussion (Spoilers) I started his series when the second book was published and the first was in paper back. At that time I did a lot of skimming/jumping through the books. I hated how each chapter was a piece of a characters story and they ended rather abruptly with long breaks between where the story picks up again many chapters later. Book 1 was tolerable because there weren't as many characters and thus stories to follow. Book 2 introduced more characters and thus I read the book by character not chapter - so, jon whole story, Arya, Tyrion etc..
At the time I wrote GRRM through a fan website and he actually wrote me an email back. He essential said he was happy I enjoyed his books however, he was upset I didn't read the story in the order he wrote them. Since my husband started watching the HBO series I reread the first books and bought books 4/5. I haven't finished book 5 yet (about 2/3 done). It just got so tedious with all the characters and plot lines. I'll finish it eventually. |

Was reading about tonights episode and it says Arya meets Brotherhood without Banners. Can't remember who they are really. Any help? Lord Beric, and a bunch of other knights were sent to arrest The Mountain (Sandor Clegane) by Ned Stark when he was hand of the king. Because they were also being sent to arrest Tywin Lannister because he was responsible for The Mountain as the Warden of the West, they became outlaws when King Robert died and Ned was imprisoned. In the book, they appear when Arya, Hot Pie, and Gendry are gathering potatoes and the archer holds Arya at bay. link below if you need more meat. http://awoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/Brotherhood_Without_Banners |

When Arya returns to Westeros, will any of her remaining family recognize her?

Hasn't he been killed numerous times and then Thoros helps heal him? I pictured Thoros much differently. He was the guy at the tournaments with the flaming sword right? Maybe I'm way off, but I pictured him looking like the evil heart stealer from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. |

Maybe I'm way off, but I pictured him looking like the evil heart stealer from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. Beric dies 7 times. The first was, IIRC, by the mountain himself. Thoros accidently resurrected him at his funeral. Then he's killed 5 more times, and Thoros brings him back. Then, when he's reintroduced, he's a typical zombie - skin falling off, etc. He dies the 7th time bringing back Catelyn, and there's not enough left for Thoros to bring back. Thoros has the flaming sword (which I would have loved to see in the 1st season). I agree, he looks too white, too English. He was sent from the eastern lands to try to convert Robert to the fire god, so IMHO he shouldn't look like hes from the UK or France or Germany. All the other easterners, except for the red priestess, look at least Mediterranean if not non-European. |

Master 2356 Fenton, MI | Subject: RE: Game of Thrones - BOOKS Discussion (Spoilers) Alright, I had to go back and read part of book 5 last night. I thought Jon Snow died after rallying the troops to go to Hardhorne with (forgot his name) so he could go back to Winterfell. He suffered at least three wounds. I think the first was a slash to the neck, then a dagger in the gut, and then a stab in the back. Then he blacked out and the chapter ended. While Jon is/was my favorite character, I'd love to see him live through it, but I can't see him living without supernatural "support". Just now, I remembered that Lady Melissandre may be able to breath life back into him. This completely changed my perspective on the issue. Could Jon and Mellissandre go to Winterfell together? Oh man, now I really can't wait to get book 6 ..... |

Idle thoughts for the morning... And as a one of the Faceless, how will she dispatch those left on her "list"??? One of my favorite scenes in all of the books was her watching, stalking, plotting then "coining" to death that merchant. |
