Seattle | Subject: RE: Mad Mutant Manatee Mentors 4--CLOSED melbo55 - 2013-04-05 9:52 AM Awesome, we have more cute doggie pics (thanks Jo and Scooby), Jon's on the road without telling us his number, and the Frog is back! Plus Ann-Marie has an awesome number and wisely told us, saving us time from having to stalk it down. OK, pod, so here's the situation: as part of my HM training plan, I'm to run a 10K race this weekend. I found a cheap one not terribly far away, but the problem is it is a VERY tiny race/field, as in last year only 27 people ran the 10K and the year before was only 39. Looking at the finishing times from last year, I will probably finish last unless I can edge out the 71 year old (if he races this year). On one level, I realize someone has to be last, but on the other hand, I have never been so certain that the likelihood of me being last is darn near 100%. I think this is my first stand-alone 10K, so I don't have any solid, previous times to go on, and if I go by my times in Olympic tris, well, I'm extra screwed. So just suck it up and go and race and be last? So, you are doing this 10K as a tune up for your HM. This is part of YOUR training. This is important for you to determine where you are at in your training etc. It's important. Just focus on that. This is 100% about you. Not to mention, that 71 year old will give you extra motivation to run it the way a tune up is supposed to be run |

Damn straight! I'm also not kidding that I'm very proud to be the Indonesian champion of the 3.8km/180km/32km distance triathlon. It's a rare one, but there you have it |

J's Dad and step-mom will be visiting them for 3 months or so in the winter some time and I plan on visiting them. So, it's a visiting train. |
