I started this morning. My FTP dropped from 265 to 258, which kind of surprised me - but my previous FTP, determined by Rubber Glove, seemed a little high. I was struggling and bailing out of a lot of rides. So I think the 258 is a good number. Right now I'm planning to try ISLAGIATT at 100% tomorrow. Seems like a good idea.

Fatigue can play a big factor though. 7 watts isn't a lot so I wouldn't worry too much about it,

I went up this morning by 19 watts. Ouch.

I was at 301 watts a few months ago and my Rubber Glove test put me at 260.  That's a fitness thing though as I haven't been on the bike but five times since IMFL and none of those rides was over 1 hour.

I won't be doing ISLAGIATT at 100% because my fitness doesn't allow it.  I will do 90%.

that is ridiculous,

I finished rubber glove! nothing to speak of as I think I am struggling to find the effort on the bike. Last year testing I was around 240 at the end of the winter program, today I tested at 210. Just can't seem to find my groove, It may be due to 2'months straight without a complete rest day but that is just an excuse. May have to post SiuB in front if my trainer!

Not to derail the thread but is he a pro or high level amateur? If those numbers are correct, heck even if they are off a bit on the high side, that is monster territory at 6 ftp / kg.

Stage 2 complete. ISLAGIATT is my new favorite video. First time I've done the video, it was brutal, but enjoyable in a sick and twisted sort of way.

Halfway through the second climb I thought I was going to be in big trouble but managed to hold on and catch my second wind. Ended up with a TSS of 155 compared to the 160 it's rated for.

Two stages done! I didn't really feel the need to win the stage. I'm not sure if the poetry eased my suffering.

Revolver next! Flat and short - yay.

I was on the fence about whether or not to sign up for the ToS until I crashed my bike on black ice yesterday.  I cracked my helmet and got a huge bruise on my thigh, so I'll need to take a few days off from running anyway.

I did the Rubber Glove test today.  My FTP us up from 297 to 299 since December 8th.  FTP/kg is up from 3.13 to 3.25.

I'll do ISLAGIATT tomorrow, but if its nice and sunny like today then I might also have to go for a ride outside after.

Hah! Love it! Seriously, Revolver is very hard...

Honestly I'm looking forward to the pain cave tomorrow with ISLAGIATT. Heard lots about this one and how everyone is struggling with it...can't wait!

cornick -- I just finished it, and it totally sucked. enjoy.

Stage 2 done!!

Over on the Trainer Road site, the 'dropped' rider rate is already over 20%, closer to 25.

I'm scared of Revolver. still trying to wrap my mind around doing "Angels" & "The Hunted" back to back. I did Angels last week on its own and nearly fell off my bike toward the end. My god, what are we doing to ourselves?

Finished Stage 2! I've owned thevid for awhile now, this morning was the first time doing it w/ Trainerroad. Tough stuff.

I'm surprised the dropout rate is so high, but I suspect it will be much less moving forward. A lot of those initial dropouts are probably folks that signed up on a whim, it is a free event after all.

Finished Revolver, was hanging on for dear life on the last 4 intervals. The middle 2 that are just slightly longer absolutely suck the life out of my legs. I need me HHTF to recover, intervals blow me up.

Did ISLAGIATT. That plain out sucked. Longest ride I've done on a trainer to date. First two sets I felt great and was really encouraged. 3rd set I was uncomfortable and just couldn't stay with it. Last set was a little better than I thought it'd be, but it was brutal. I was spent after and I didn't finish until 10:30 at night so I got a miserable night sleep and the kid was up at 6:30 because that's what time he gets up. Tonight might be a true sufferfest if I can't find another bit of energy.

GOOD GOD ALMIGHTY! It NEVER sounded like a good idea....

That was probably the hardest TR session I've ever done. At 1:12 I had to drop it to 90%...just couldn't sustain 100% anymore. At 1:33 I dropped it to 85% just so I could flat out finish.

I think the 19 watt jump from yesterday cooked me a bit.

And the crazy thing is....I wouldn't change a thing! Looking forward to all the chicken I'm going to eat today.....lol

I don't know who said it was a good idea, but they need to be pulled out into the street and drawn and quartered! I was watching The walking dead, and by the time the workout started talking about the apocalypse I was hoping for zombies to put me out of my misery. Of course at 1:43 when my chain went flying I about went over the handlebars, stopped and fixed chain and was able to finish strong. Overall I did fairly well, TSS came in at 157 so close to the base of 160.

I have a 6 mile run scheduled for later....we will see how that goes!

Just finished ISLAGIATT. I've done most of the Sufferfest videos at some point, and it's my favorite...and I felt like I had a great ride today. Of course, it's afternoon, I'm caffeinated, fed, it's light outside - we'll see how revolver goes at 5 am tomorrow. That's probably the stage I dread most. My feeling about all of these workouts is, they are close to the edge. If I'm having a bad day, it comes out as a true horrorshow. A good day feels like a solid effort, beyond comfort level but achievable.
And I'm not running or swimming now. For all of you who are, and are mixing this in - I am in awe.

Stage 2 is in the books for me. I tailed off towards end of 2nd climb / kicking. Went for a 3.5 mile run after and felt better than I thought. My pacing on the run was better my standalone runs.

I'm now watching my GoPro footage of the suffering. Wow I make some ridiculous faces.

Revolver done - IF of 1! My recoveries dipped real low but I kept the power on during the intvervals.

My FTP is embarrassingly low but I swear that my cycleops is filled with syrup and not "fluid". I know its a good workout when getting up the stairs from the basement is a bit of an effort in itself.

Ok, after reading all these reports about ISLAGIATT, something went seriously wrong with my FTP test. I did the test and came out at 271. I can't compare it to my past one because it's a new set up. My trainer started leaking and I received a new flywheel, so the tension is completely different that before. However, I noticed something similar to what someone else recently posted about it getting abnormally more difficult towards the end of the workout. Early in teh test I was running around 280-290 and it didn't feel as hard as I thought it should. By the 16-17 minute mark I started noticing it becoming much more difficult to even sustain a 270. As if i was pushing through mud or something. And it felt like more than fatigue, that it was significantly more difficult to push. Anyway, I was certainly destroyed by the end of the test, so I felt it was still a decent number.

Well, after finishing ISLAGIATT today, I felt that I could've easily gone on a while longer. It didn't feel very difficult for me and I really hate admitting though, cause I feel like I'm cheating the tour. I followed the target the entire time. I just looked at the graph and I'm either at the target or just above it the whole way. I obviously can't retest in the middle of this, but I'm going to try tightening the resistance for tomorrow's test, and see if that makes it feel a bit more normal.

Don’t forget this is an incredibly big year for sport with the Olympics back in Athens where the modern Olympics started, and especially triathlon to make its second appearance.
