I have to swim over 5 waves of people to get to the front. Why cant my AG (27) be in front? Oh well. You'll see a silver cap swim by, don't be alarmed, its only me.

Last year the morning before the race the water temperature was below 78 degrees and the race director DECREED that there would be no wetsuits. Luckily/ unluckily the wind and the waves picked up so they made it wetsuit legal. I think it was more for people like me who really needed/wanted the crutch of wearing the wetsuit.

Too funny. That's exactly what happened to me last year. As I'm appraching my bike at T1, I heard the announcer yelling Hunter Kemper's name as he was crossing the finish line.... and he came in second or third (can't remember). Since he grew up in the area, the announcer had to repeat it several times.

I yelled out "RUB IT IN WON'TCHA!!" A guy across from me just closed his eyes and laughed hard.

Last year, at my first olympic of the season, the winner and I crossed the plane of the finish line at the same time.

I was heading out on my swim, he was heading in to the finish.

So what you're saying is my 7:15 start time is pretty good.    I'm hoping to be done around 10:00 and not have to worry about the heat.

Its funny how in the males, they work the age groups up and for the females they work backwards.  Seems like you better female athletes would be in the 25-35 AG.  Interesting!

OK St. A's peeps, now that IMAZ is over, it's time to start getting the arrangements set for this event.  Soon I'll post a "proposed BT events schedule" like I did for IMAZ and y'all can propose better/more convenient times/places if you see fit to.  I'd say by Monday of next week (which by the way is Jess's birthday...whoop whoop!!...but don't tell her I told ya!) I'll have a draft schedule up.  Can't wait for this one!  Maybe it'll help me get thru my post IMAZ depression to have friends and fun around me!

Well I will be volunteerin for some race karma.

I will be pulling people out of the water onto the stairs after the swim.

Last year they had 12 year old girls doing it and they were not all that strong or able to yank people out of the water.

yeah, I remember the girls doing it.. they were not able to pull me out of the water, so I just got myself out. It was not easy after 'that' swim. They have swimmer removers at Chattanooga as well. Those were big guys, pulled me out of the water and onto a doc like it was nothing.

Jeff, I am getting excited too! I still haven't decided whether to race or not. I SHOULDN'T RACE so hopefully good sense will prevail. SO now I can help you plan all the fun stuff. I know this year we will NOT be having the psot race party at La Veranda. We kinda eliminated that possibility last year. Luckily we can have just as much fun at a hotel bar somewhere. Who is staying in a hotel close to the race site?

Q-money was gonna post a schedule, or at least a proposed one.  But, in general, I'm good with whatever's proposed.  A couple things we may want to work around:

  • The tri-bike-transport gang doesn't get their bikes til Friday afternoon, so no rides until after Friday 1PM or a few folks will be mssing.
  • Several folks are racing the meek & mighty in the morning on Saturday (ends by Noon).
  • Athlete's meeting at 3PM on Saturday (we need to nominate at least ONE person to go).

And yes, I'm getting geeked.

I'm at the Marriott downtown.  Not sure what kind of bar area/lobby they have though.
