I am tired, too.  Today has been frustrating.

Now I have to eat and get ready for a knitting class tonight.

What?  I knit.  I like it.  I'm going to learn how to knit socks.

I've been making Christmas presents for the past month or so.

So TANners ... What shall I do with two whole days of nothingness this weekend? I'm staying in Chicago so my plans are wide open. I'm going to do a 7 miler on Sunday, most likely, ahead of the Omaha Marathon on the 28th. Really, though, I haven't anything to do. Which is nice.

I could:

A) Park by butt on a barstool and watch football all day, both days.
B) Go explore new neighborhoods, alone.
C) Work on my condo -- paint and replace the sink and such.

WWTD?

Combination of A and C.  Work on your condo while watching football.

I like how you think. Come over and help me. You can replace the sink while I watch football. That way, everybody wins.

You do not want me to replace your sink.  Painting I can do.

Sinks aren't too difficult, you drink while putting the sink in and have plenty of time left over to make it to the bar to watch the games + having had a few at home you won't have to buy as many at the bar.

Yep.  The wonderful f-ing city of Chicago tore down the buildings and spread the people out into the unprepared areas of Central Illinois. It's done wonders for my hometown.

That maybe true.  But it has in fact done wonders for some of the kids that used to live there, that now get a shot at a decent place to live and a real education.

That's probably true, and I'm probably being more than a little bit harsh.  But I know that a lot of the towns people were sent to don't have the infrastructure of a large city and weren't prepared for the people.  We didn't really have public transportation, and we didn't have any jobs. I'm sure it's been good for the kids, but I wonder what it's done for the adults.  I just have a problem with the way that the governor of Chicago, err...Illinois, has been running the state.  Chicago gets all the funding from the entire state and Central and Southern Illinois have to fend for themselves

Oh, I won't disagree that there are a lot of problems associated with the massive relocations of large groups of people (Katrina aftermath anyone), just that I have seen some positives come out of it.  Here we do have jobs and I think that some of people that relocated have been positive for our community.  However, you can definitely see the impact it's had on the size of the schools and in other areas.  And I haven't really heard anything good about the way the Chicago projects situation was handled, and that is coming from people both inside and outside of the area.

And I have a question for TAN.  Does it make me a geek that I am sitting at my desk in front of two computers, one of which is running a dual display onto an old spare monitor?
