I'm a lot like Neil. My weight just doesn't change that much no matter if I eat healthy, eat garbage, train a lot, or train a little. I think if I am not training as much I'm just not as hungry and I focus more on what I'm eating.

I tried tracking what I eat this fall on Livestrong. I wanted to see how many calories I consume in a day just because I really don't have a clue. The process of recording every little thing just about made me crazy. I found myself not eating things just because I was too lazy to record it LOL. It was not an accurate representation of my normal diet and I only lasted 3 days!

6'1 ish usually around 170lbs. A little over during the winter and a little under during peak training. Same weight I was in college as a swimmer. The past week or two are the first times this year my weight has been under 170. I find my weight drops the most from training (obviously), getting good sleep and not having a beer or glass of wine at night with dinner.

A little over 6'2" and high-180s.  I may get up to mid 190s in the winter holiday season and down to low-mid 180s at times.  On average, I am probably about 10lbs less than I weighed as a rower in college.  Were I to try to really get aggressive for performance, I would expect that (with a lot of discipline) I could drop to mid-high 170s.  I just don't have a good reason to do so.

I started tris, in part, to lose some weight.  I was gradually inching up the scale each year post-school and was up to ~215.  I started training and made some modest changes to my diet and lost ~20lbs in the first year, so only a few since then.  I eat healthier than I used to (but I was never "awful"), but I also don't worry about having some snacks.  I weigh myself most days--partly out of habit now but I figure at least I can watch for any trend change over time--but don't stress about weight.

The whole weight/diet thing is always an interesting topic in these forums.  I agree with Bryan that a lot depends on age/metabolism.  I'm 43 and have definitely seen my metabolism change over the years.  However, on the flip side when I am training I am a bit like Jason where I can eat what I want and have no worries about gaining weight and truthfully no guilt at all.  Right now I hover around 173 at 6'1" and this is pretty ideal for me.

I have fallen off this week with some unexpected schedule interruptions that has led to a far busier week then I planned for. Was planning on hitting 2 final big days last weekend then recover through this week and start again tomorrow, but instead I took then entire weekend as recovery, haven't had the chance to train much, and while my body feels a little recouped my sleep was not ideal. I am looking forward to getting back into the mix and of course involving myself with all of you guys again.

Looks like we have a huge weekend of racing coming up, cant wait to read the RR's on Monday. Good luck to all!

Fred is the swim cancelled for Columbia? I thought I heard mention of it possibly being cancelled.

Now that I've switched to Adamo, I ride way up on the tip of the saddle.  Lets just say it's not as comfortable for me when the saddle is perfectly horizontal.

When I rode a more traditional saddle, I sat farther back, and the saddle was horizontal.

So I've been whining about hip pain in my SI joint area for a few weeks and this afternoon my coach told me no running this weekend.  I'm not particularly happy.  I don't think running aggrevates it any and I really don't feel like biking for 11 hours this weekend to make up the lost running (the 11 hours is my normal biking plus the lost run minutes).

Not fun.

Fred Doucette - 2011-05-20 11:37 AM Swim is apparently back on for my race.

Good to hear.

I recently signed up for a race in July...come to find out there is a high chance the swim will be cancelled due to box jellyfish.  Here on Oahu, box jellyfish invade the south shore beaches for a few days based on the lunar calandar (~10 days after the new moon).  Day of the race falls on the date with the highest probability of jellyfish.

No big deal I guess though.  Not an A race for me, and I suppose a Du might be something "interesting" to try.

yeah but you gotta be smart. Pushing training now when injured will lead to more disappointment later. This was my entire 2009 season and it sucked. Be smart, listen to tour coach.

I was hoping you'd tell me to get a cortisone shot and suck it up.  I hate not running.  I don't have to ever swim again, but I really feel the need to run.

I had SI joint pain several years ago but mine really hurt whenever I would run. I had PT for it and was really stressed because I was trying to get ready for an 80 mile, very hilly, relay event (each team member ran around 10-11 miles). The PT was fine but it turned out that we adopted my son 1 week before the race so I bailed on the run anyway. No way I was leaving my new baby to run and ride around in a van all day! Thankfully my husband took my place on the team. Once I knew I wasn't running the race I just quit running for a while and replaced it with more swimming and cycling. It healed quickly then and has never come back. Of course, I wasn't doing the volume you are!

How things change. Now I can't wait to get out of the house for a while for a race LOL.

Heading out for my long group ride.  Hopefully when I come back they'll be on the marathon.

I'm not racing and I'm around! Trying to catch up on housework and cleaning the van. I'm not really motivated to stop what I'm doing to make time for my workout today. It's just a 30 min ride and 30 min run to wrap up my recovery week. For some reason those little workouts seem so easy to push aside sometimes.
