I wanted to post in the single thread but I don't belong...

BUT, my wife get's flirted/hit on by more women than I do.  So not only do I have to compete with the guys, the girls too?

And on a couple occasions, the girl has asked for MY permission to hook up with the wife...  What do you say to that?  I'm pretty much - "more power to you if you can accomplish that".

See I don't get this.  Since when can you not post in a thread if you want to.  Has not being a girl ever stopped you from posting in questions for girls if you have a good answer?

I know I CAN.  But there are always a couple people that will say I don't belong.  And to be honest, sharing my opinion isn't that important SO, if I can avoid the few comments that I don't belong by just not sharing - good by me.

MAYBE it screws some people out of some good advice I could be sharing - but they can blame the people telling me to go away.

Bottom line is, the pros of sharing my opinion are small compared to the hassle of even ONE complainer.

Hmmm Good point I see what you mean and for the most part agree.  I just think the concept of "I don''t belong" is silly.

Shoveled the entire driveway. Blisters on my hands!
Car still won't budge though. It's sitting on a sheet of ice, wheels spinning. Car has been warming up for an hour. I put cardboard under the wheels and they just got shot forward with the spinning.

I just want to get the car out of the shade

boil water and pour it down the drive or use salt or kitty litter to create traction.

I know I keep mentioning this online OSHA training I have been doing at lunch.  At first I was REALLY paying attention - as in not multitasking because I was skurt of the test questions at the end of each section.

You have to get 7 out of 10 right and have 3 shots at doing it.  But after the first few sections?  I realized WHO a majority of people that need OSHA training is required.

I'm not talking bad about them, but mostly laborers, construction, etc.  Granted, people that are dealing with serious chemicals for R&D too.  If they made it TOO hard, then you would lose half your work force.  All most all of the questions are common sense kinds of things.  The only ones I got wrong are things like "how long does a manufacturer have to identify new hazards of their chemicals after they are discovered".  1 weeks, 3 months, 6 months, 1 year.

I guess 2 weeks figuring that the shorter time the better, but they get 3 months (in case you were wondering).

If you would have put salt down at the beginning of that hour, ice would be gone by now.  It's pretty amazing how that works.

Rock salt, kitty litter, or regular old play sand.

Rock salt is obviously the best choice as it'll also melt and break up the ice.

sand is a terrible choice because melting snow + sand is just as slick and scary as the ice!

regular old salt will do the trick as well, just not as grippy for your tires, i would dump it down where you have shoveled to keep the melt from freezing.

AND YOU HAVE TAN TO HELP YOU

Interesting, I did not know that.  I only mentioned it because I've heard that lots of the southern states use it on their roads in winter.  Up here, it's all rock salt.  It's almost unheard of for someone to not have a bag of it lying around somewhere.

Release the parking brake?  If the car has been running for an hour why would you worry about the shade?  The windows should be all clear.

Honestly put some salt/icemelt down in front of and behind the tires. Let it work and then scrape away the melted snow and ice.

Don't have salt or ice melt or anything.

Boiled a pot of water and put it around the front tires which are the problem ones. NOTHING.

No kitchen salt?  Like perhaps a box of kosher salt or a big thing of iodized salt?  Sprinkle a very liberal amount of that on the ice behind the front tires and give it an hour.

Ahh, I never got to experience that.  The only times I was ever living down south during snow, I happened to be away on deployment when they got hit (Feb '91 was the biggest, hehe).

Doh!  Well, save that for cookin'!  If you're gonna be stuck, may as well make tasty foods

You could try chipping away at the ice behind the tires with something.   Also, make sure you are using a low gear and very slowly applying the throttle.

At this point, though, your best bet might be to wait for a neighbor to just put their shoulder into it and give a push while you give it a little gas.

ETA: Is your driveway flat, uphill from the street or downhill?

Shoveled the entire driveway. Blisters on my hands!
Car still won't budge though. It's sitting on a sheet of ice, wheels spinning. Car has been warming up for an hour. I put cardboard under the wheels and they just got shot forward with the spinning.

I just want to get the car out of the shade

Release the parking brake?  If the car has been running for an hour why would you worry about the shade?  The windows should be all clear.

Honestly put some salt/icemelt down in front of and behind the tires. Let it work and then scrape away the melted snow and ice.

Parking break not on.
I just want to get it out from it's stuck spot.
Don't have salt or ice melt or anything.

Boiled a pot of water and put it around the front tires which are the problem ones. NOTHING.

2nd pot on the stove.

No kitchen salt?  Like perhaps a box of kosher salt or a big thing of iodized salt?  Sprinkle a very liberal amount of that on the ice behind the front tires and give it an hour.

Nope. I have about 3 tablespoons of kosher salt left in my kitchen.
I suck!

some states use a urea mix. so you could.....

hahhahahahhha, pee would TOTALLY work.....

I totally dare Lisa to try writing her name in the snow.

I don't think a stencil will help her much right now.

Got kitty litter? That helps provide some traction.

Drop it in low, rock forward and backward. Take your time.
