Veteran 267 | Subject: RE: BamaDC's Mentor Group v4.0 - Closed Yep, I'm in full on taper mode over here. Race day can't come soon enough. Good luck this weekend, Jason. A nice cool front is moving/has moved through. Race day temps for me won't top the low 70s. Very happy about that. How's Augusta weather looking? |

Regular 142 | Subject: RE: BamaDC's Mentor Group v4.0 - Closed Haven't posted in quite a while, but just read through the posts and wanted to wish mashmead good luck this weekend! I'm racing Augusta as well. Should be a good race. My biggest area of concern is that my wave is last!! (except for relay teams). I'm bummed about this, as one of my main sources of inspiration on the bike is being passed by super fast guys. Live trying to catch them on the hills. With a start time if 9:08 am, it's gonna be hot and lonely. Just frustrated. |

Good luck this weekend, Jason. A nice cool front is moving/has moved through. Race day temps for me won't top the low 70s. Very happy about that. How's Augusta weather looking? It seems to change daily. Right now, it's calling for AM Clouds and PM Sun, High of 89, low of 61. The day should start out nicely, but the run could get a little toasty if the sun comes out. I'm all over the taper this week and just ready for the race to get here. I don't know why I get nervous with these things.....I'm not going to win anything, just looking to finish. Jenn, good luck, you will get it done. I know a couple of folks that will be taking off with you, or close to you. I'll be out there with you, but a little earlier. My wave takes off at 8:08amEST. Takes me 35mins to do 1500m!!On a personal note was ambitiously aiming for a 1:14:10 for my sprint today and ended up coming in at 1:13:27 . Just got to wait for final finishing times later tonight before I post my race report. |

The run, not so we'll, but got it done. I guess if you take what my open half would be and added 10%, that's what I did. Smoked the bike in 2:45 and some change, 20.3 mph avg. Might have gone too fast, but I think my run was going to be tough anyway, it got hot out there, lots of walking the second loop. Finished the run in 2:32 and change. First half of run, avg 10:30/mile, second half was 12:44/mile, so blew up on the second half of the run pretty good.Overall, good race. Finished in 5:54:40 or so, and beat my A goal for 6 hours, by over 5 mins. With a better run (what I was hoping for at 11 min avg) might have pushed to 5:45. Hope everyone else's races went well and thanks for all the support from you guys and ladies.Edited by pilotzs 2011-09-25 5:34 PM |

Good course, downstream swim, pretty flat bike, but a few good hills/climbs. Flat run, but hot. cornfed - 2011-09-25 1:51 PM Jason just finished the swim in 28:57. He's effing flying! Wow! Veteran 267 | Subject: RE: BamaDC's Mentor Group v4.0 - Closed Well my day didnt go as planned. After several delays they cancelled the swim because of thunderstorms. It's been raining for darn near 24 hours now. Temps didn't get out of the 50s all day. Finished the bike in 2:43 and the run in 1:44. Good for third on my AG. Very small race but lots of very fast people. Lots of people bailed after the swim was killed. Others did one loop on the bike and then bailed. Of the 103 registered maybe 25 finished. Also not sure the distances were exact. We're on vacation this week, will post a report later. |

Regular 142 | Subject: RE: BamaDC's Mentor Group v4.0 - Closed What a great day in Augusta! Swim was 30:40, bike 3:23, run 2:24. Total 6:32. Beat my Florida time by 25 minutes. The race was great. I was in the last wave and was so worried about heat, but a storm blew in and we got rained on the last 7 miles or so. I need to figure out how to stay mentally focused during the run. My open 1/2 marathon us 1:55, but I can't seem to keep focused on the 1/2 iron run. Oh well, something to work on I guess. Congrats everyone in their races!! Edited by jennitris 2011-09-26 10:01 AM |

I have hard time getting my head in the right place when the race gets delayed or changed at the last minute. But it still like you had a good race and maybe even sub 5. That's a helluva good run! |

Good job Mash!! Looks like a good bike and a great run. Sucks about the swim, but looks like you had a good day overall. |

Congrats everyone in their races!! Jenn, I'm with you here. My first 5 miles were okay. Mile 6, everything started to go downhill. By mile 7, I was a mental wreck and stayed that way. No focus at all, and I just couldn't break through it. At mile 11, I finally got a plan to run one minute and walk 1 minute. Mile 12, I ran 2, walked 1. I know I had more in my legs and body, just couldn't get my mind to follow along. The rain was probably a welcome sight for y'all. It was hot out there for a while. |
