WTF! I literally can't keep up. Most of them are just "hey" or "whats up" but a lot of them are actual sentences and conversation starting attempts. Confession: I only signed up because of one particular person's profile. And he didn't even respond to me EDIT: he just replied with 8 paragraphs of hilarious. Huh! Do you POF users get this volume of messages as well? Yep thats normal. I changed my preferences so the guys have to at least have a profile pic and a few other filters, so that helped. A lot of them I just look at the profile pic and just delete them without even looking at the message.....eventually you can tell which ones just send a "hey" Edited by AbbieR 2013-02-09 11:33 AM |

In my area .....POF had offered up men that are about a 1/2 step up from a Craigslist, "I'm at the airport for a 2 hour layover" bathroom stall rendezvous! Lol. (I don't say that from experience but from anecdotal commentary about the personal ads on Craigslist) Next I'll try SeniorPeopleMeet.com or Ourtime.com ....do an age range of 70-100 ...ill be that hot younger women they're looking for! Ha! Okay POF users - is this normal? I signed up for the site 48 hours ago and have received... 48 messages. WTF! I literally can't keep up. Plenty of Fish is a very well known hook up site in CO. An I have heard it is the same in MI. Unfortunately I am getting very close to Ourtime.com. Maybe I could get cougared from there. |

Pro 3730 NorCal | Subject: RE: Triathlon Dating Thread Ver 2.0 I laughed my way through this, a bit long but funny! http://theurbandater.com/online-dating/the-case-for-dating-profiles-less-than-2400-characters.php/ One thing I would add would be, don't invite a woman to your neighborhood for a date unless you love near eachother already. If you are asking a woman to meet you a few blocks from your place, it's obvious you are just looking for a hook-up. Tonight a guy emailed me and asked me out without even telling me his name! I looked over his profile and saw that he had every box checked from Long term dating to casual sex, so I called him out on it. Told him I'm not interested in a hook-up and he responded with "have a nice evening". Basically if a guy has every box checked I look at it as, he is only looking for casual sex and trying to hide it by checking the other boxes. Or his is just wiling to take whatever he can get. |

Geez. No wonder guys get a such a low response rate on those sites. How does the Match Inbox compare? Have not done Match in while, but Match makes it easy for the "lazy dater"....my term for guys who just send a "wink". Communication is huge, if a guy can't even throw 2 sentences together to create an email, he is not for me. Overall I got less emails, but lots of winks and "like" on my pics. |

Geez. No wonder guys get a such a low response rate on those sites. How does the Match Inbox compare? They're all pretty similar. I remember going out on a date with one girl from Match who literally got as many messages in a day than I would in a good week. With that said, I'm thinking about rejoining the fray after Single Awareness Day blows over. There has to be a girl in my area that is intelligent and enjoys doing things outside every now and then. Where are they hiding?! Edited by msteiner 2013-02-11 11:15 AM |

Master 1890 Gig Harbor | Subject: RE: Triathlon Dating Thread Ver 2.0 Ok fellow singles / internet dating users... explain this one. I get a "hit" from a girl on POF. She marked me as one of her "favorites" so I emailed her. She emailed back - we have a bunch in common, I send her back a response to her email that clearly shows I read her profile. I suggest we meetup for a cup of coffee (one of her suggestions in her profile). I never hear back from her. What gives? 2 people, lot's in common, both on dating sites, friendly and witty emails back and forth and then nothing. This is not the first time that has happened. Email a few times - then when I ask them out they stop emailing. |

Could be you said something that turned her off and she was playing along. Could be she was in contact with multiple guys and someone else asked first. Could be she decided she really didn't want to be on a dating site after all. Point is, it's not worth trying to figure it out. Take it as a clear sign that she's not interested for whatever reason and move on. And, really, would you want to date someone that can't just tell you how she feels? Really? |
