Nice race Jason. Looks like you were conservative based on the course but still fast enough to post a great first HIM time. Great work sir!

Last race of the season was yesterday. It was an OLY which I finished in 2:33:21.  Pourly executed but I'm still pretty happy. I was hoping for 2:30 and I feel like I lost at least 3 minutes out on the course.  Poorly navigated swim and my garmin froze coming out of T2 so I had do idea how my run was going but I averaged almost 22 on the bike.  None the less I'm pretty happy.

Nice race!  Sub 2:30 will come soon enough.

Next week is my last A race of the season - the Bourbon Chase.  200 miles of running total (split between 12 people), and I get 20 of them.

Race report is here:

http://beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=270587

Even though the swim was cancelled I'm pretty happy with the way things turned out.

Congrats on your race, Jason!  Nice work.

And Drew, that's a killer bike split.  Way to go.

Thanks guys.  I'll get a report up shortly.

I've decided that triathlons suck.  I was looking forward to some down time but now all I can think about is how to cut 3:21 off my time for next year! I decided to take a week completely off to relax before doing anything but all I want to do is go for a run.  Is it too early to get excited about next season?

I hope not as it's what I'm doing at the mo as well! All I can think of is how I missed the 3hr mark on my oly by a mere 1:06. I started doing Jorge's v3 winter cycling plan (yeah I know v4 is almost upon us) and have started seeing some good gains already and will be focusing on my running during the winter (as it sucks atm!) which should get me decently under 3hrs next year

I understand.  I'm already thinking about my next HIM.  I'm actually considering the New Orleans 70.3 in April.  Title, any recs on this?

I'm actively planning next season already, so I can get an off season plan in place for improvement.

IMO, not as good a race as Augusta. Can't comment on the swim as it was cancelled, but the bike course was flat, windy, rough, and not very interesting. The run is again, flat and HOT. However, the post race was really cool in NO. Obviously, there is also a lot more to do on a trip to NOLA than Augusta. I also found it hard to get all the training in for an early spring race.

You could always to San Juan, it's in mind March.  I agree with Todd about the difficulty with early season races.  Last year I ran a marathon in March and found it difficult to get all the training in over the winter.  I might be better for you guys down south but still something to think about.

I'm here and I'm still running. I got in the 18s and feel so so on it. I'm scared of the fact that I haven't busted through 20 on a training run, but I do know that I've run a good bit.

I'm healthy and I want it.

I guess that's a good thing. Now, to make it the last 3 weeks.

Lots of them popping up, but some appear to be too small to have a good atmosphere.  Bourbon had 200+ teams.  Lots of action everywhere.  Great post party.  Lots of (wait for it) Bourbon flowing!

Nice job!  I probably won't run anything until Thanksgiving but I'm hoping to break 21:00.  But given that my week off turned into two weeks I can only say I'm hoping and not trying! ;-)

I ran in a 5k this Saturday, too.  It was short, I clocked it at only 2.84 miles, others who have run it before said it was :30 - :40 short time wise.  Finished in 17:36, 2nd OA.  A little bummed it was short but a fun race nonetheless.

Dang, y'all suck!!!  In a good way though.

Awesome 5k Times fellas!!!

I was doing good to post a 27:43 at the breast cancer run on Saturday.  I dream of 21:00, much less below 20:00.
