Almost the start of my weekend!  Looking forward to getting home and doing my trainer ride tonight; while I have a 90 minute ride scheduled, I get to ride with my shiny new power meter for the first time.

Hope everyone has a groovy & safe weekend.

Kirk Out.

It is raining and it looks like it will be the long continuous variety, not the intermittent kind that allows for a run or ride between the showers.  I guess I shall ride the trainer for a while.  Maybe sling my sissy weights around a bit.

Rain is good.  The lake level is rising.  This is the normal cycle of water management in TVA watershed.   A couple of inches of rain will move the level up a foot and keep the level on the program.   I like a full pond.

Have a good Saturday.

We have a gorgeous sunny day here.  It is inspiring me get out.  I had a bad couple of days with rain and chilly weather.  I just couldn't get going.  Today is good.  I am scheduling the bike ride for 1 PM when the temp is predicted to cross the 60 degree mark.  It will be outstanding.

Plus, I solved a math problem.  That always helps the mood too.  One more problem yet to solve then maybe I will be able to put the bicycle wheel problem away for awhile.

I am taking my tri bike out today to break her in with a short 10 mile ride it is a warm almost sweating 46 degrees here today. I went home at lunch and grabbed the motorcycle.

The GF and I took it out yesterday for our first ride a 17 mile ride and yesterday it was only 41 degrees and windy. BRRRRR...

Anyways the FELT B14 gets its first ride tonight.

Then after that I am up to start week one with our Learn to Run clinic and the new people out in our clinic for the store. Must be the winter we only had 9 people sign up this year. Usually we have about 16-20.

Ya ya I rode outside Saturday and it was awesome! Except for being chased by a pit bull out in the middle of nowhere. Good to know I can out-bike a farm dog, but man he hung with me longer than the average dog - WAY past his property line.

Good for you. With my winter weight I am afraid in that situation I would have become kibble and bits.

Just carry some kibble in your pocket. Throw it out when the dog comes running.

Ok, kibble might not do it. Maybe hot dogs?

I just ride with my friend Stef she seems to save my life from dogs all the time on rides. Super Woman. I usually get shocked she usually manages to control the situation.

yep there it is ladies. A Woman saving my life while I cower like a wussy of a guy.

Admittedly I have stitches where I was bit and attacked by a dog as a kid.. So I think it disables me with fear a bit. Valid enough excuse?

or are you laughing now.

I had 10 stitches in my face from a dog attack when I was 10
Left cheek. I have to touch it any time I think or talk about it.

I really wanted to play hooky today.  After getting in and seeing the total disaster our email and computer system is after the 'switch over" that was supposed to happen this weekend?  It would have been the right decisions.

Lots of dog stories on rides. Fortunately, only was bit once and that was when I was 12yo on family vacation riding at the lake.

We had a little guy try to catch us once. Poor thing did a good 1/4 mile and his owner's kid was running after him trying to stop the dog from chasing. It was hilarious...

When all else fails, a squirt in the eyes with a water bottle stuns a dog enough for you to get a good jump on them. Just be sure and accelerate like hell.

My ride was great.    I wore the full-on Fred bike gear with the matching red jersey, gloves and helmet, and rode the go-fast bike.  I should have taken a picture of myself.  I looked ridiculous.

Perfect temperature. Cherry and pear trees in bloom.  A few daffodils still left.  Clear blue sky.

I only got honked at twice.  One was beep-beep-beeeeep just as the guy was passing me.  I had to be at me.   The road is four lanes with a separate bike lane.  I was riding to right-center of the bike lane minding my own business.  I have no idea what he meant by that.  Maybe he thought he recognized me.  The other was while crossing an uphill intersection where I went straight and a guy who was overtaking me from behind  wanted to turn right.  Apparently, he thought I was going too slow and held him up for a second or two.   This was a back street and is marked as a bike route.

I saw a motorcycle cop with a radar gun.  He didn't even show me the respect to put the gun on me.  Heck I was going 20 in a 50 mph zone down in the drops and all.  I thought I was doing pretty good.  At least, he could have checked.

Life is good.

New Army regs are in effect. Ponytails for PT are ok! No more buns! To tell the truth, I never did figure out how to keep my hair in a bun while running
