CLOSED Tri2Smile - 2013-03-08 7:51 AM Good Morning Everyone, Please submit and calculate your weight update today. I had a very disappointing start. I usually pre-cut and pre-plan my snacks and some meals when I am in training mode but unable to do so being under the weather. If you add in some comfort meals and the fact that my appetite does not decrease even when sick, I was lucky to even lose a pound. During past challenges, I usually lose a big chunk the first week then taper off the rest of the challenge so hopefully I can have more of a consistent weight loss this time around. I'm about to go for a run before work and have a busy training weekend planned so hope to get my diet refocused as well. Have a great weekend everyone ! p.s. Chapfallen, is there an easy way to change the order of the chart based on percentage lost after everyone submits their weekly weight ? TIA !

you did better than me - I gained 2 lbs since monday and sitting at 143 this morning. Not surprising though, have had way too many treats this week. |

It was looking like a small gain for a while there so a no change beats the thought of a gain! I'm in the same boat, except I had a small loss until we ordered Mexican takeout last night. Between the sodium and what I ate, I ended up even for the week as well. At least all the snow we received last night made everything look pretty. |

I calculated my percentage by: # of pounds lost divided by # of pounds to lose It looks like you are using a different way of calculating percentage, so I am not sure what the percentage should really be. |

Extreme Veteran 692 England | Subject: RE: Fred D and Queen Zipp's SWIM, BIKE RUN consistency thread.... CLOSED I'm on my iPhone so can't get to the table. Will update properly and clean it up when I get home. I ended this week at 74.6kg so a small loss. I cheated slightly though because my starting weight was a false high and it came down again the next day... Generally I would calculate % lost as (weight lost/starting weight)x100. If anyone has a better suggestion please shout up. Rich - there isn't an easy way to reorder the table. Sorry, that's a little beyond my skills :-) |

Member 3145 Carbondale, Illinois | Subject: RE: Fred D and Queen Zipp's SWIM, BIKE RUN consistency thread.... CLOSED Congrats to those of you registering weight losses this week! Today is the beginning of Spring Break here!! It can't come at a better time. After weeks of cold weather, snow, sleet, thunderstorms, etc. we finally have a whole week scheduled to be in the high 50s/low 60s with only one day of rain. I can't wait! Got out at lunch and did a 30min jog. It is near 55F and sunny. A little Vitamin D is always good for what ails ya if you ask me. I just have one more meeting with my grad students this afternoon (which is actually more like a happy hour) and then an entire week to train, work on my research, and relax! Have a great Friday!! |

for percent lost, I did (final - initial)/initial * 100. In my case, (192-198)/198*100 = -3.0% A big weight loss for me this week, but reality is I've been sick all week and done zero training. And still have no real appetite, so it's been easy to stick to 1200 cal's. in fact most days I've been having to make myself eat more food to not go too low on Calorie intake! That is definitely not normal for me... I'm hoping to avoid the 'rebound weight', we'll see how it goes as I get better. So far still feel like crap. Edited by norcal_SAHD 2013-03-08 1:44 PM |

Champion 7163 Verona WI--Ironman Bike Country! | Subject: RE: Fred D and Queen Zipp's SWIM, BIKE RUN consistency thread.... CLOSED Congrats to those that lost weight and to those that held the line! Between watching you all and starting to use fitnesspal, I managed to drop 2lbs/2% from the last time I weighed myself which was probably four weeks ago. I'm heading into taper so hopefully I can keep it right where I am. Love seeing the new bikes, talk of new bikes and newborns. Have a great weekend everyone! |

Member 108 | Subject: RE: Fred D and Queen Zipp's SWIM, BIKE RUN consistency thread.... CLOSED Great job everyone on the weight loss challenge !..I'll update the chart by Monday. Forgive this newbie excitement but I just came back from doing my first legit and uninterrupted 1 mile swim ! I've been doing TI swim training for the past 3 months while seeing my swim teacher every month for a tune up session in addition to sending her a video every week or so. I have not been doing any crazy volume sessions but trying to consistently put in four to five 1500-2000 swim sessions per week. I still have a long way to go but have been making tweaks here and there in regards to rotation, hand position, leg position and movement, cadence, etc ...things started coming together about a week before my last spring tri (thank God !). I would have been dry heaving just a month ago but felt great today. Obviously swim speed is not a priority right now, but technique and comfort are and I'm finally getting more and more comfortable. This mentor program is really keeping me mentally accountable ! Thanks so much ! Now off to the local farmers market and a family friends get together later tonight. My challenging bike ride is scheduled for tomorrow afternoon and I may join a group for their ocean swim early morning. Have a great weekend !

Member 3145 Carbondale, Illinois | Subject: RE: Fred D and Queen Zipp's SWIM, BIKE RUN consistency thread.... CLOSED 15.4 hilly miles on the bike for me today. Had my first legit fall as I tried to clip in at a stop sign, but no real damage to anything but my pride. I'm starting to figure out shifting and hill climbing, but I need more work outside. That spin bike just doesn't even mimic the real thing. Hope everyone has a great Saturday! |

Master 7712 Orlando | Subject: RE: Fred D and Queen Zipp's SWIM, BIKE RUN consistency thread.... CLOSED 12 mile run for me. I was a bit of a dope though; did the first mile in one type of running shoes and then switched to another (I'm experimenting with new shoes), but forgot to switch my orthotics. So, I ran 11 miles with not only no orthotics in my shoes, but with no insert at all! I wondered why I developed a big blood blister and why the toe box felt roomier. Guess I have my answer. |

Champion 7163 Verona WI--Ironman Bike Country! | Subject: RE: Fred D and Queen Zipp's SWIM, BIKE RUN consistency thread.... CLOSED Great job running and riding!! Got my second to last long pace run done and it went pretty well. Was hoping to take it outside, but it was sleeting. Now it's pouring and 37F. Tomorrow we're slated for 4-6" of snow. I'm beginning to think my next run outside with be the marathon! |

Extreme Veteran 692 England | Subject: RE: Fred D and Queen Zipp's SWIM, BIKE RUN consistency thread.... CLOSED Good to hear everyone's getting some good training in. I'm having a rest week, which is definitely needed. I managed to accidentally coincide it with a 2 day ski trip this week, so I'm planning to only do one each s/b/r this week, try to get in some core work, and then the two days of skiing should keep my legs working nicely. Keep up the good work everyone! |

Expert 1023 , | Subject: RE: Fred D and Queen Zipp's SWIM, BIKE RUN consistency thread.... CLOSED Did my HM today and I'm happy with the results. My goal was 2:15, and I finished in 2:15:01, so right on target. Faded a little around mile 12 which I expected since my volume was down and my longest training run was only 10 miles, but I still was able to finish well. Ended up being a perfect day; bright sunshine and about 40 degrees, so being able to run in shorts and t-shirt was a pleasure. Not bad considering Friday we had about 8 inches of snow. A great day on a pretty and challenging course. QueenZipp - 2013-03-10 3:01 PM Getting to perfect riding weather. A bit windy but just the right temperature and plenty of sunshine. Pure awesomeness. Since I'll be more bike focused now I'm hoping for some warmer weather. Still a little chilly in the mornings here, but Spring will be here soon. Rachel, the math for me is easy since I stayed at 200 this week. Would have helped to have a little less weight to drag up those hills today! |

CLOSED Fred D - 2013-03-10 2:41 PM Well, I rode 4 times in Florida and then just came back from a great ride in the mountains of PA while enjoying temps in the 50s! I set a KOM in Florida, maybe more as the segments appear after some time. Does anyone else like strava? there are mountains in Florida? I don't use Strava, but a bunch of my mountain bike riding facebook friends do, it's a constant source of amusement for them. And the occasional source of broken bikes and bones as they try to beat each other on the downhill segments... |
