Foam 5K - reminds me of Spring Break in Cancun? Is that the idea?

Or fraternity parties...

I did one of the glow in the dark ones and had an absolute blast - but I think it was more related to the situation and the company than the race itself. We were the only ones a few beers deep and pumped up at the start line

I deleted my daily Active.com email without even reading it.  Too bad I missed their little joke.  Email pranks are a too easy and therefore too lame.  I miss the days of my youth when putting Ivory liquid in the fountain at the World Headquarters of the Church of God was considered good clean fun.

Going to dinner and production of The Tempest tonight...

That's hard to get fired up for even on the weekend.  To rush home, put on the suit, get to the steak joint with the wife's friends whom I don't know but have to small talk with, sit through some Shakespeare (which, BTW, you have to be tuned in for - can't just zone out and expect to keep up) on a Tuesday night?

I guess I like to just train or practice golf and wind down after a long day and get to bed at a reasonable hour.  Maybe treat myself to a bourbon on the rocks or glass of wine.  Not going to happen - and I sort of dwell on it all day...

Man I want to ride my tri bike again tonight for some actual distance.

It is like a million miles an hour windy out. But so much warmer than yesterday. It is a whole 50 F out. Like summer man.

Have you run yet?

How far are you running?

How warm is it there?

What will you be wearing?

Have you finished your run yet? How about now? NOW?

Running is more fun than mowing the grass and replacing sprinkler heads which is what I shall be doing.  There won't be many more days of pleasant temperatures for good running either.  It is supposed to be 80 here this weekend.  Go for a run.  It will be great.

I would probably enjoy that kind of evening.  Probably would prefer something other than steak for dinner but that could be ok too.

The Tempest is the best (and probably the last) comedy Shakespeare wrote.  Themes of racism and barbarian people from lands that were newly discovered reflect the thinking about the rest of the world from European perspective at the time.  Prospero was probably modeled on Shakespeare himself.  It is a comedy in formal structure but is not all that funny, probably not funny at the time it was written either.  It is thought-provoking tragicomedy that reflects an older accomplished writer who did not have to prove himself and align his themes carefully with the court any longer.

The Tempest is good stuff. Enjoy. I hope the evening turns out better than you expect.   I shall go dig up my copy for a refresher.  I read the Wikipedia description and did not like it.  I need the genuine text.

I'm tempted to read it over lunch...

I'm sure it will be enjoyable, but it's just rushing from work to the house to dress up for dinner and rush over...  I feel like it's better for a Friday or Sat night where you have a little more time and don't have to work in the morning.  Plus I can enjoy it more if I'm not beat from working and dozing off at 9-10 pm...

PLUS, do to the lack of training?  All my nice cloths are a little snug and uncomfortable.

Gooooo ruuuuuuuun!

Do eeet!

I got in a nice 1:40:00 trainer ride this morning. Hooray for hill repeats on a trainer!

Gonna go to the gym for a "max lift" session in about an hour.

Loving the training these days; took forever to get back into the swing of things.

Bike fit and an Adamo saddle make all the difference... but I'd be lost without Netflix, TrainerRoad and Sons of Anarchy.

And thank Jeebus, too, because the coach has a 2:15:00 scheduled for me this Saturday,  2:30 next Wednesday, and I see a 2:45 already scheduled on the 19th

Of course, I could do some of these outside as soon as it finishes snowing here, but I kinda prefer the trainer after my crash.... safer (even considering that I fell off the trainer this weekend - yup, tipped right the eff over).

Half done (slow at work).

My trick with Shakespeare?  I read a through synopsis first so I understand the general story line, the characters, and plot.

Then I can read the play and not struggle with trying to decipher every line for meaning because I know what the message is supposed to be.  I can then read the humor and sarcasm he intended instead of trying to figure out plot.

It's a lot like those "hidden" paintings.  If you don't know what to look for, it's hard to see it.  However, if you have someone point it out, you can look at it and wonder how you can NOT see it.  Same with Shakespeare.  If I know what to look for, it seems so obvious what the characters are saying.

I didn't get it in HS.  My English lit teacher would laugh at lines and we would look at each other and wonder what was so funny.  The wife was in Comedy of Errors and I was laughing my arse off during the whole thing.  Shakespeare was so sarcastic and sort of crude...  I'm sure the upper class may not have liked him much?

ETA:  I think many people assume Shakespeare is high brow.  Honestly, he's campy and sarcastic in his comedies (and has some funny stuff in his tragedies), he may have been more equivalent to today's sitcom writers!  His jokes are classic and sometimes bumbling characters...

One of my plans had "4 days of 40"  So 4 days of 40 miles rides.  It was still winterish so had to do them on the trainer.  At my pace, that was 2:45 on the trainer for 4 days running.

Honestly, I got through it with TV and rest breaks.  I decided to take 3-5 minutes every 45 minutes to get off, reload water and just walk around a second.  I figured I would have just as much down time if I was riding outside with traffic stops and such.  Psychologically it helped.  First 45 was always easy.  Second was never bad.  The third 45 sucked except what got me through it is that after my last break, I only had 30 left with 10 of that easy spinning cool down.

Also, I have a bag of just abut every typ of M&M candy.  Which should I indulge?  Dark, milk, peanut, peanut butter, or pretzel?

That's a good one.  I hope you did that from memory.  I couldn't think of a single Tempest quote when I wrote earlier.  /tips hat/

It isn't quite as fun as it used to be. After me taking a year off of here more or less.

But It still entertains me for my brief moments where I can no longer stare at my work without wanting to punch myself in the face.

Training hell I just want to get out and ride and not be in snow anymore. This body is up so much in weight, I look like I am training to be a sumo wrestler.
