I'm not a runner.  I'm working on it, but I mostly still suck.

This made me laugh out loud...

So glad I'm not the only one who just is not a runner! I mostly suck too!!

Not at all!  I've been struggling with running since I started tris.  Maybe one day I'll actually be able to call myself a runner.  It's a dream.

Being able to call yourself a runner - I'm not able to dream anywhere near that big yet!! And how weird it is that that sounds like a big dream to me... HA!!

I can't remember where I saw the quote this made me think of. I think it might have actually been in a BTer's signature line. But it says something like: If God invented the marathon to keep us from doing stupid things, the triathlon must have taken Him complete by surprise.

Kind of like 'being a runner' as a big dream...

Artemis:  How is your fund raising going?  I have only one phrase for you "Go Team."  I started with TNT and love it.  My wife has been a mentor and a web captain for the TRI teams.   She was going to do the Half Mary this year--and blew up her knee.

Artemis - 2009-06-16 2:11 PM I ran 3.2 miles today.  I really didn't feel like it, but I made it through.  I was faster than I thought I'd be, which is kind of nice.  I might be sore tomorrow, though.

Nice job on the run, Speedy Gonzales... Smile Sounds like runner status to me!!

It's going ok.  I have about $175 of the $500.  I have until July 7th to get the rest of it, but am waiting for responses from family.  I sent out a bunch of letters recently.  Any advice or things that have worked well for you and your wife?

My dad has done this ride a few times and really enjoyed it, so I think it will be fun.  My adviser is also a TNT mentor for marathons.  He's done at least 4 with TNT and I'm not sure which one he's training for now.

Maybe.  I still don't feel like a runner, though.  I feel like I struggle too much to call myself a runner.

<<--- Definitely not a runner! Which is why I organized a run challenge this month. I needed "motivation" to get out there and wog*.

*Wog = Walk/jog. Because it's too slow to be called a "run."

Here's the first one, and then I have to go back to real life!

What's your favorite tri discipline, and why?

I LOVE swimming in the pool...not so much in the ocean or lakes. I also really enjoy my long rides. Early in the morning when there is little traffic. Very peaceful and enjoyable.

I suck at running too. It's what keeps me a "middle of the packer" but the good news is I don't HATE it anymore...it's just not a fave!

TOO FUNNY. When I first read it the old tune to the Dr Pepper song came to mind "...I'm a wogger, you're a wogger, wouldn't you like to be a wogger too?" I never heard the term before but I like it!

MDHillSlug - 2009-06-16 3:35 PM I have permission from Dee to refactor my running goal for the rest of the month. I'm lowering my frequency and my distance. My new goal is 29 miles (down from 45). Taking that into account I'm now at 50% of goal!

I'm glad she let you do that.  Is the rest helping your foot some?

I took 5 days between runs and my heel was feeling pretty good this morning. It was a bit uncomfortable while running and hurts some now but I can walk without trouble which is a huge improvement from last week. I'll take 4 day until my next run and then only run twice a week if things stay good.

I came to triathlon from biking and biking is still my first love. I'd rather bike than almost anything!

When I started down the triathlon road the running seemed easier than the swimming but in the last year I come to really love swimming. Running was getting much better for me until my current heel issue popped up.

In reference to the previous post (and what an awful runner I am!!)... Did the running get much better just because you kept doing it? Or did you change something about your mindset?

And how long were you running before it started getting better?

I was improving with almost every run but I didn't find it enjoyable except for the satisfaction of the improvement. As I kept at it it became easier and my mindset changed, too. I prefer to bike or swim but I definitely don't hate running.

Hi everyone...

Another 30 minutes for the June Bugs.  Have a slight problem...tried to put it into the spreadsheet.  I can log in, but it's not letting me change the amount.  Can anyone help me out.  My believe my minutes should read 310 now.

Thanks
