Give me a Badger win and the day is complete! Racers stay tough to the finish. Don't let the conditions or your competition psych you out!

Extreme Veteran 692 England | Subject: RE: Fred D and Queen Zipp's SWIM, BIKE RUN consistency thread.... CLOSED Unsurprisingly, today my weight is up. That's what two days with lots of travelling (ie junk food) and a really nice hotel stay in the middle (dinner, bed and breakfast deal with really nice food) will do for you. Add in very little sleep and it's a recipe for weight gain. It's a bit disappointing because on Monday I was around 4lb lighter than today. But hopefully that means it's a temporary blip... Had a great time on my little ski trip, but I'm absolutely exhausted now. I'm hoping a good night's sleep tonight will let me get on with some training this weekend. I had more plans for this week than I've succeeded with, but I'm not going to beat myself up about it.

Expert 1023 , | Subject: RE: Fred D and Queen Zipp's SWIM, BIKE RUN consistency thread.... CLOSED I did manage to lose a couple of pounds this week. The only thing I really have trouble with is when my wife bakes. Last week she made chocolate chip cookies that were just as good as the ones my mother made when I was a kid. Very hard to resist. Kristen, you are a badazz regardless of the weather. Have a great race! Have a great weekend everybody!

Member 108 | Subject: RE: Fred D and Queen Zipp's SWIM, BIKE RUN consistency thread.... CLOSED Gorgeous day to start the weekend. I met up with a friend who is tapering for his upcoming HIM for a lake open water session. Always nice to pick up tips and pushed myself a bit more today doing four 500M loops. Due to a change of plans tomorrow, I followed the swim with my long bike ride. I don't think it will get any easier for me...just will learn to tolerate the pain better...but felt good to get in a great work out. I'll probably do a pool swim and my long run tomorrow and make Sunday my rest day. To balance out.. the wife has plans tonight, tomorrow morning and night so I'll be watching my four 4 monkeys plus a few of their friends tonight and tomorrow. Likely cheat meal of pizza and cold suds planned for tonight and will probably end up firing up the grill a few times over the weekend. First pic is the lake where I do some of my open water swims and the site of my next tri race. Second pic is of a local canyon known for great tri training due to the hilly terrain..not super steep but long winding incline. Have a great weekend all ! I took active rest today with a little yoga. Depending on the craptasticness of the weather I may hit the gym for a treadmill run some strength and a swim...... My daughter has another show choir competition tomorrow and somewhere this weekend I need to get her to the clinic cause she has a sinus infection. Of course she went out with her boyfriend tonight and will be at the competition most of tomorrow with the little bit of time she has in the morning for curling her hair and doing makeup (I need to show ya'll a picture of this kid in full competition attire so glad this sport has easy dress requirements!) We also have to get the other daughter and boyfriend back to campus on Sunday. Fun times juggling. That said, hope to ride but it may be the trainer at dawn!! |

Member 3145 Carbondale, Illinois | Subject: RE: Fred D and Queen Zipp's SWIM, BIKE RUN consistency thread.... CLOSED Happy Saturday all! With another beautiful day headed our way I took the opportunity to hit the streets on my bike this morning. Because of DST I actually had to wait about 20minutes after I was ready to go--sun had to rise! I did the same route as last week, which is pretty hilly, and finished 10minutes faster than last week. I'm pretty happy with that, but most happy with the fact that I only had to walk up two hills. Last week it was way more, and I remember each one, so as I crested hills I had to walk up last week I really felt accomplished! We're having a party tonight, so I'd better get off here and start getting ready. Hope everyone has a great day! |

It was so much fun - if I ever quit tri's again, I'm going to go strictly trail racing. It poured rain for the first two miles, but after that, it was great. Cool & muddy, but sunny and the woods were gorgeous. Will post up a race report & pics later. Time to shower off the mud. |

Extreme Veteran 692 England | Subject: RE: Fred D and Queen Zipp's SWIM, BIKE RUN consistency thread.... CLOSED Back to training today after a week of really doing very little (except the skiing, which I don't really think counts). Finally made it into lane 1 at the tri club swim session, which was one of my March goals. It was HARD. On the longer sets I waited until I got lapped (usually about 250m) then stopped till the group went past again so I could get back on someone's toes. On the shorter sets I managed to swim them all but didn't manage the rest intervals so much. But I was getting more off the draft than the recovery, so I just pushed on. I'll definitely get faster/stronger by swimming with that group, so hopefully the lane won't fill up too much in the near future while I find my fast. I'm officially the fastest swimmer in the tri club who wasn't a child swimmer, but I figure there are still improvements to be made! |

Royal(PITA) 14270 West Chester, Ohio | Subject: RE: Fred D and Queen Zipp's SWIM, BIKE RUN consistency thread.... CLOSED Rachael, I'm with Suzy! You rock getting in the first lane and hanging on! I am debating late season plans. There is a part of me so stoked with the way my run is shaping up that I am considering signing up for my first marathon. The other part of me knows how much I really missed my bike last summer when the 20 week half marathon plan took over. Just not sure what I want to do this season......decisions, decisions. |
