John (TheWolf) and I did our final 2-mile swim together this morning; I Tri-Bike-Transport tomorrow and will see you all in CDA!  Travel safely and most important, have FUN on race day!

Ha!  More like Gail lead the way...like, 5-8 mins out in front.  I dream of pulling speed like that in the water someday, LOL.

See y'all in CdA.  Can't wait.  I leave SoCal Wednesday morning - should arrive sometime late morning Thursday.  It's party time...

If you see a gold or champagne camry with a Red Trek Equinox on the back on the way up north wave and say hi.

Will do!  You do the same.  I'll be in a metallic green Honda element w/ a Canadian flag on the back window, and a big Shimano sticker on the left rear window...

Checking the weather on weather.com today it says 71 and sunny for the 27th, down a few degrees from yesterday!!  I know someone said it isn't reliable until about 48-72 hours but it looks promising.....

and as far as the taper stuff, I know I still feel like crap but its just the usual taper yucky feeling, i think someone used the word "molasses".... thats a perfect analogy.....

It is IRONMAN week baby!  I must admit I lost some sleep last night (nervous excitement).  Also, the dreams kept cycling.  I kept dreaming that I did not have my helmet or bike shoes coming out of the water at T1.  What is that all about???

We are driving up from Boise on Thursday morning (7-8 hour drive).  If all goes well we will arrive late afternoon early evening in CDA.  My two and four year old girls keep calling me Ironman!  I love it!  It will be fun to have them on the course cheering and ringing the bells.

I am looking forward to meeting up with those that can make the swim on Friday.  Travel safe!

Flying out tomorrow morning to Seattle then we are driving to CDA Thursday morning. I just cannot wait to get on the plane!

I haven't been keeping up if there's a BT practice swim or any other get togethers but if there are I started a new thread specific for get togethers under the Iron Distance Forum.  It should be easier there so it doesn't get buried in all our pre race jitter/taper madness posts in this thread

Flying into Denver tomorrow and then picking up a RV rental in Colorado Springs on Wednesday.  Should reach CDA Thursday afternoon/evening.  Staying at Blackwell RV...anyone else?  Also, trying to figure out how to get to transition on Sunday morning.  Camp owners say its a little over a mile walk to downtown CDA so I will do that if I have to.  Looking forward to meeting BTers on Friday swim.  Getting anxious but trying to practice 1 Peter 5:7.  After race, off to tour some of the national parks with wife and my three girls.  Hopefully I will recover fast and able to do the hikes.

What do you do when the gun goes off?  Leave them on the beach?

Yes, leave them in the trash on the beach, along with your gel and waterbottle trash. I about froze at a race earlier this year, even with my wetsuit on, just standing around on cold concrete. And rumor has it, the water may be a bit chilly too, so I'm planning on starting out warmCool

Why take 'em off when you can swim in them. This $25 was a no brainer.

Can  you use them in a USAT race? If so that would be awsome if the water is cold plus it seems like an advantage by keeping your feet up higher in the water.

My understanding is they are not legal. In years past the RD has waived the rule due to cold water. With this weeks heavey rains things may not get as warm as we had hoped. They may end up legal.

Page 11 of your athlete guide - If water is 65 or colder, booties are legal.

The booties make you considerably slower. They tend to fill with water and turn into parachutes. They will keep your feet warm but I personally won't race in them. Your feet warm up after a couple of minutes anyway. Just my 2 cents.

X2.  Raced in them once, never again.

Thought I'd wish everyone the best of luck and safe travels in case things start getting too hectic over the next few days.

Lot's of great info shared over the last year by all.

Look forward to seeing many of you at the Friday swim.

This forum, the training, planning, preparation, gear, gadgets, the highs and lows have all made this a freak'n awesome experience.

Hope you all have a great race.

X3 - I raced an early season half ironman with boots - I will never race with them again.

they were nice before the race, but once the race started they filled with water and they were a total distraction to my swimming.

Has the BT group suggested a lunch together on Saturday?  Lets meet at the expo noon saturday then have a nice pasta lunch somewhere.  We can talk last minute race todo's.    It would be fun to meet you all...

Has anyone found a signup for athlete tracking?  I have friends asking for this, but I can't seem to locate it.
