I stopped and came back home and decide to give it a few more days. I hope it is just bruised. I will see how it feels at the swim eval tonight. I might try and get a ride in tomorrow since the pain came from riding.I guess better to take a couple extra days than be sidelined for months |

After a couple of minutes the guy finished and grabbed his towel - an ironman finisher towel - and I suddenly realized it was Pete Jacobs, he's relocated to Noosa! As I said hi to him and got on the TM I realized the women was Michelle Bremer who won Ironman Western Australia this year. Running next to her was interesting, I think she was impressed with my uphill walking intervals.... David, Your posts are never boring. Especially when you talk about your starlit nighttime beach runs, beautiful ocean swims, or ANY time you include pictures!! |

You are not doing yourself any good. If you feel the need to do something go for a walk. But take a break. These workouts are not beneficial if you are feeling pain. I know things are rolling along and you got a new bike etc, but it may come to a screeching halt if you don't recover properly. Beside you have a new child you need to be able to carry around, I remember those cars seats are heavy... |

I've got a Scott Foil, I've added profile aerobars and I'm just about to put on Fulcrum Quattro wheels. I test rode a few bikes but the Scott felt like the most responsive. Have fun and don't rush things. Hope you're all getting some sleep?! |

Nice bike Mike, but take everyone's advice and come back ever so slowly after that accident. I have had a few close calls on the bike, but for the most part the drivers in Japan are pretty courteous. There are some jerks, but I have never had anyone shout or throw anything at me. My scariest moments on the bike were all death-wobble related. |

Master 2501 | Subject: RE: Swbkrun mentor group - Closed Not being nearly as modest as Julia, I'll shout from the rooftops that I got a 2:00 PR in my half today for a 1:47:47. Very, very happy as all I wanted to do was run faster than a 1:49:47. Ryan crushed with a 1:23 (his first open half), Steve had a 1:42 (didn't get to talk to him post-race). Ryan's off to get hitched, Steve and family there as well -- very happy for them as it's a gorgeous day and it's all just perfect. More later. In search of a pedicure now, pre-haircut, pre-soccer game, pre-auction. |

I took it easy and don't think I've done any serious damage to the body. I nabbed 1st in my age group and got some nice bling. It was a beautiful day for a long run, and my dad was a real trooper. He hung out for the entire day at the race site. He did say, next time I could just borrow his car. Congrats to the other racers. Way to represent!! |

Veteran 287 Tucson | Subject: RE: Swbkrun mentor group - Closed Wow, I have missed a good bit. Congrats to Mike on the baby! I am glad that you are ok after your accident. Scary stuff.
Also, congratulations to the racers! Sounds like you all did well.
As far as close calls go, I have only had one. I had moved over from the bike lane onto the main road in order to make a left turn. I signaled and was wearing bright colors but some guy just turned right out in front of me when I had the right of way. I had to swerve back into the bike lane but all was fine. Incidents like this keep me pretty conservative with my bike routes.
In other news, I decided to go clipless finally. I figured this would help get things in better alignment and help what ever I have going on in my knee. Dh had some spd pedals so all I needed was some shoes. Got those on clearance. So yesterday I went out just to practice clipping in and out. Just went out in front of my house. Well, I got one foot clipped in and promptly fell over. Banged up my good knee pretty good. I got up and got back to with my knee bleeding. Went much better after that. I will practice some more today.
Happy Sunday, everyone.

Veteran 291 | Subject: RE: Swbkrun mentor group - Closed Awesome job Jayne and Kyla and all the other racers !!! Life has been way too busy here, just trying ti stay in touch right now. I saw something about close calls while riding. Had one two summer ago in LBI NJ, car cut in front of me to turn right, a locked my brakes up on the wet painted while line and slide into the side of the car. Luckily a turned my bars just in time to skid along side that car. They never stopped, hit my hand pretty hard. I can only hope they got some nice scratches from my bike. |

I went on my first outside ride yesterday afternoon. About half-way intot he ride I got a flat in my rear tire and was pulling over had one shoe out of the clipless and my other drive side got caught and could release it quick enough. I ended up in the ditch on my back. No harm done. Got up fixed the flat and on we went. Looked at it as good practice for changing flats. I have some work to do on that end of things. |
