It's considered healthy if it has a banana on it right?  Note, that is dark chocolate cream cheese.  We know that dark chocolate is healthy.

You are kidding right? Surprised

I dunno, I kind of dig the guys approach. I don't read it as him proving anyone else wrong. But more of a personal experiment. As far as trusting his training hours I don't really care but if you've read his blog, of he's lying he's sure going to great lengths to make up shot workouts. At any rate. I had 4 x 10' at 95% FTP with 3' easy at 190 this evening. Ouch

Morning all. Thought I'd make you all appreciate your nice warm beds by letting you know it's -3c (26f) and I'm about to go out for a 30min run!

It's statements like that which help ensure I never get homesick for New Brunswick.  lol

2.5 hr bike ride on my schedule.  I doubt I'll get it all in but we'll see how much I can do.  No morning workouts so no alarm clock this morning.  I still never manage to sleep in much though as my body just wakes up.  Too many years of getting up early...

mndiver - 2012-02-01 12:05 PM I might be able to brag about doing something that none of the superstars in this mentor group have done by the end of the weekend. There are ice bike races in Minnesota being held this weekend and even though I blew the chance to register on time I have a friend who thinks she can get me in. I have never done this and don't know the slightest bit about it (ie) distance, pacing, strategy, equipment, etc. But boy am I ever stoked to give it a try. It looks like they have approximately a mile course with curves and switchbacks plowed out on the lake. I really hope I can get in.

That sounds awesome.  What type of bikes are they riding and how is it possible to not crash a bunch of times?  Are there different distances?  I hope you get in and can tell us how it goes.

I ran 10 this morning and planning on a 2K swim a little bit later.

I got some new shoes in the mail yesterday.  Always nice to get some new kicks.  I find that I can usually get 300-350 miles on a pair of sneaks before some issues (injuries) pop up.  Now I track it pretty close so I change out about 300 miles.  The rare times I have got running injuries were because of not replacing shoes fast enough.  Plus I like getting new shoes!  Do you folks get more/less out of your shoes?

Fred D - 2012-02-02 6:37 AM Ok, moving right along.... Just did 4x10' @ 95-96% of FTP with 4' rest intervals. Now on call for 24 hours. What's your day look like??

Cannot go wrong with that one...nice work!

Fred - A story in our local paper yesterday...pregnant girl got sent home 3 times in the matter of 24 hours and ended up having the baby in the elevator at the hospital on her 4th trip in about 3 hours after the 3rd trip.  The baby is doing good but thought that was a little nuts.

I get about the same amount before I start to notice my knees.  I can go longer, there is just some discomfort.  I've always wondered what would happen if I kept going, would my body adapt?  My thought is yes.  But I always give in and get new ones anyways

My Dad was born in a place called Chatham head N.B. Ever heard of it?

Yup.  I traveled by it all the time.  Being in the NE side of NB you have to go through Chatham to get near anywhere.  I grew up in Bathurst, and went to university in Fredericton.  Then I moved to NS so traveled back and forth quite a bit

4 mile run in the books (very) early this morning. Ran in a mucky foggy soup...gotta love south Texas in "winter".

Hoping to get the swim in this afternoon if the weather holds. That's the only drawback of not driving 45 minutes to one of the indoor pools I've used the last few seasons. However, it is nice not to have to commute to swim anymore...plus I get to swim for free. Smile

right now i run in an older version of Under Armour Illusion, but since we are now sponsored by K-swiss, i am looking into trying their shoes, i am looking into the Tube Run 100, the California and Kwicky Blade Light, any one have experience with those??

when i was first fitted for shoes they had me in a stability shoe, since then i am 45lbs lighter and run a lot more, so i should probably find a K-Swiss dealer and do it again.

Do you folks get more/less out of your shoes?

Usually in the 300 mile ballpark.

I run in Nike Pegasus and Brooks Ghost. I also have the New Balance Trail Minimus that I've used for a few Sprint Tris, hashing, and Tough Mudder. I also have Vibram Five Fingers that make an appearance every now and then for some short jogs.

Rev3 is working on a shoe sponsor, so I might try out a new brand soon.

I heard that the Pegasus has undergone some changes since the version I have, and I'm not sure how much I'll like the new ones.

I have heard some good things about the Kinvara (plus they look sweet )although have never tried them myself yet.  I run in K-Swiss shoes and like them.

Rudy:  I have ran in the Keahou, California, K-Ona & Blade Light Run.  The tubes are a bit too gimmicky for me and have not tried those.

The California and the Kwicky Blade light are on opposite ends of the spectrum.  The California is about 12 ounces and provides some good cushion.  the Kwicky is 9oz and has very little.  The Kwicky is similar to the Blade Light.  I usually just race and do shorter sessions in the blade light and love it as a race shoe.  the Keahou is my favorite training shoe as it provides good stability and is fairly lighweight at 11 oz.  That is what my new pair that I just received is.

I would go with the Keahou or California for training and the Kwicky for a race shoe.

Oh the east coast! I am not from there but my hubby is (south shore NS) and now i've driven out there a few times ... the new Trans Canada highway doesn't really let you see anything of NB other than the forests ... not that there's a lot there anyway.

Run: run in Asics 2150's in narrow width.  Basically because it's one of the few shoes that were carried in 2A width.  I started in the 11XX something and have moved from the 2110's to the 2150's.  Thankfully I have access to the outlet for the specialty run shop and got my last two pairs for really cheap so i haven't had to go to the more expensive 2160's yet.  work really well for me so i haven't had to switch ...

Today I got up and did the Jillian Michael's ST video and I am now super sleepy.  I really like it because it does a lot of moves that tend to be ones recommended for tri training to help prevent injury and strengthen areas. Lots of lunges and core work.   Planning to do a short swim tonight.
