Ever know nice people that always seem to make the worst decisions in who they date?  What is up with that?

I know a couple amazing girls that pick Dbag after Dbag...

However, some of their crazy is starting to show too...  So maybe it's not ALL the Dbag's fault.

In our defense, sometimes we don't know they're dbags until we date them. The dbagginess doesn't show at first, but comes out after a month or two in...

Also what age are they? At my age (34) and living in a mid-sized (350,000 population) city, the pickings are slim. Add in criteria like "not fat/sorta athletic would be nice", "religious to some degree" and "doesn't live at home" - and there are only so many folks to choose from.

Sometimes I get into a mode where I'd rather go out with someone (and then find out they're a dbag) than stay at home alone weekend after weekend. Shrug.

Try living in a town of 208,000.  I sadly had to take smoking off my list of deal-breakers, lest I be stuck with the same situation.

blech, i couldn't date a smoker.  i hardly have any friends that are.  i can't kiss that, i don't want my clothes to smell like that.

that's one VERY sucky thing about traveling to europe, EVERYONE smokes.  gross.

I'm in the same boat (Cleveland < 400k), but I'd rather be home alone than out with a smoker.  Doubly so as an ex-smoker myself.

Depends on how hot she is!    But I would put up a fuss and try to get them to stop (or at least not around me, in my house, car etc)...  She would end up dumping me for being a nag about it.

She'd have to be.... "Smoking Hot"?  ;-)

Thank you, thank you... I'll be here all week.

Seriously, she'd have to be off-the-charts hot AND have a kick-azz personality -- like, in "I can't live without her" territory -- for me to even consider it.  Heck, there was this one woman that I was pretty well in love with not that long ago, but if I picture her smoking, I can easily say that I wouldn't want to be with her.

Hi TAN!

Back from the interview and it went really well.  I've been told that they'll let me know either way by Friday which makes me feel better that I'll know one way or the other what's going on.

Now home to rest for a tad before heading to the gym and then maybe for a drink or two.  So far it's been a good day.

I understand.  I'm just saying that if I'm on my first date and she lights up that I'm never calling her again if the date was going smashingly otherwise.

But that topic would one of concern and could stop something going much further.

I would need to figure it out.  She could be a social smoker (which is still yucky).  Only when she goes out/drinks and such.  But otherwise never does it.  Just need to see what's up before ending it.

Drugs, OTOH, is probably a one strike deal.  I mean, I don't judge if you want to, but I'm not going to be around for it.

It's true - EVERYONE smokes in Europe.   It was disgusting.  What I found interesting was that even someone who is/was a smoker in North America would go to the UK and think that it was gross how smokey it was everywhere.

possibly?  but they die of many other health complications before cancer gets them.

their spouses have very high rates of cancers   my husband's grandmother smoked, and grandfather ended up with cancer in his throat and a tracheotomy.  my nana smoked, and my pappy had lung cancer.  etc.  etc.

There was an offer for employment, which I accepted and the background check is currently being completed.  However, having said that - this was the firm I was hoping to be a part of from the beginning.  If this comes through I wouldn't feel all that terrible about telling the other place that I have been offered my dream job and will be taking it instead.

Would I feel somewhat terrible?  Yes.  Would I feel like a bit of a schmuk?  Absolutely.  But I've also been told several times that I've also got to do what's right for me.

My father smoked for years and years and years - unfiltered Camels for eons.  He had 1/2 a lung removed when he was younger, too, because of pneumonia (from what I was told, and I remember the huge scar he had on his back).  The bastage lived to be over 70.  I bet it was the formaldehyde that made him live longer than he should.  He should have died sooner.  But I digress.

I've been addicted to real maple syrup since I was wee lad; however, I don't think I can correctly say "aboot" and wear a tuque.

I'll still listen to April Wine, Rush, The Guess Who, The Kings, and Gordon Lightfoot (yeah, yeah, whatever) but do not think you'll ever convince me to like Anne Murray.

Oh, yeah - I forgot about Lucky Strikes, too.  My dad had those, too.  Possibly even did Chesterfields.

As a kid, I liked the Lucky Strikes' cover.  It was simple and cool to me.  Darn glad that I didn't start his habit, though.

Hi TAN!

Back from the interview and it went really well.  I've been told that they'll let me know either way by Friday which makes me feel better that I'll know one way or the other what's going on.

Now home to rest for a tad before heading to the gym and then maybe for a drink or two.  So far it's been a good day.

Very nice and good luck.

Thanks!

As long as you tell them that Canada is NOT taking over the world, then you should have a sure call-back.

But we ARE!!!  Soon everyone will be addicted to maple syrup and poutine.  And finally spelling properly!

This series of posts has smiley face overload.

I agree WinkLaughingInnocentTongue outCoolSmile

Drive by TAN!

Getting caught up in all the gossip:

Monica has 1 (2) job offers (CONGRATS!)

Lisa is still single, which blows my mind

Cord is also, which doesn't blow my mind

Tony is not, which goes back to blowing my mind

Marilyn still struggling with hip pain; feel your pain (literally). Going to ART 2/week has help me.

Salty is superwoman

Miss anything?

I'm a top.

a top what?
