I never really got the whole "the correct number of bikes to own is N+1" thing until recently.   I started off buying a TT bike, then I built (and rebuilt) a road bike.  Half the summer long, I had my girlfriend telling me to try MTB, and lately I've been getting an itch to try CX..... I can't afford all of the bikes I want to buy!

I think it's mostly loving the ones you have then "needing" the right tool for new jobs.

I have my old Cannondale MTB.  It's a 96!  Almost 20 years old.  No reason to keep it, but breaks my heart to sell it.  Got the NEW Full suspension.  But then I thought hard tail would be cool.  Got the TT bike of course for try, then wanted a road for groups.  No a SS or fixie sounds like fun.  Looking into cyclecross.

I may think that one of each style for me would work.  If I got a new carbon road bike, I would ditch the alu.  OTOH, that doesn't jive with why I have a 20 yr old MTB still.  Other than the fact it was my first and selling it would get me about 50 bucks, but it's worth a WHOLE lot more to me than 3 martinis or a tank of gas.

I wonder if I could give it to a good cause?  (not just dump it at goodwill).  It would still be sad to ditch it, but I haven't ridding it in 5+ years and probably never will.

I also have a couple old sets of golf clubs I should just toss...  But again, stupid to just throw them away, but selling gets you lunch at McDonald's and that's about it.

ETA:  Thanks for bringing up the subject.  I have been telling myself to look for a cross bike this week but kept forgetting.

There's a halfway house for kids at risk who have a fleet of bikes. These are kids in emergency situations transitioning into foster care. They have lots of bikes like your hardtail in the fleet. The kids ride the hell out of the bikes. Once a year, I go and overhaul them over the course of a couple of nights. Maybe see if there's a place near you?

I would feel better giver her up to that.  But I guess even if I sold it in a garage sail for 50 bucks, I'm sure they would get some use from it.  Better than now.

But still, i often think to strip it down to the frame and rebuild could be a fun project.  I think the rear shock still works, which is amazing after 20 years.  But I may need to get a new one.

The pool is on my list also.  I want to make some major changes, so I am going to drain it move it out do some more work and improve the electrical and lighting and bar area, so I better get busy on that also.

If you can possibly home run a sub panel, that is totally the best way to go. I have 100A service to the shed and can add breakers to my heart's content. So much easier.

So saturday starts with the weekly visit from the cleaning lady. Exchanging morning pleasantries she launches into telling us that things are no bueno. She caught her husband of 15 years cheating on her. With a 20 year old male.

Sunday I meet up with a guy I had lost touch with and haven't spoken with for 30 years. We found out by coincidence that we live in the same city (he just moved here) AND kids go to the same school. After catching up on the past 30 years he gets to what he's up to business wise. It is most definately on the darker side of shady.

I sat there staring into space last night just thinking, bizarre.

WWTANDO?

I sold a bike jersey on eBay. Nearly a week after the buyer received it, she contacts me and says basically it does not fit her. It is, and was listed as, size small (with front/back photos in the listing) but she says it fits more like a "petite small" - which does not exist in this particular brand. She wants to know if she can return it and wanted to contact me before leaving feedback.

The listing clearly said "no returns or exchanges" so I'm leaning towards telling her no, I really don't want to mess with it. I don't want to be a jerk about it though. Also assuming if I do this she will likely give me an unwarranted neutral/negative feedback.

I don't feel it's my issue that the jersey doesn't fit her - that's kind of a risk you take when buying items sight unseen.

Am I crazy? What would you do?

i wouldn't return it.  that's not your problem.  if your listing was like your listing on BT, you gave plenty of information in your listing.  write a polite note back, and if she gives you negative feedback, what's the worst that happens?  if someone has one neg and all the rest positive, i assume the person giving the feedback is the problem and not the seller (same with hotels, etc)

I thought you can respond to negative feedback on Ebay.  It's been while, so I don't know.

I would say sorry, but no returns.

Or, did she pay shipping the first time?  Maybe if you say she has to pay to ship it back, you will refund the money once you get it and it's the same condition you sent it.  May not be worth paying shipping twice for something you don't have.

So you look like you are trying to work with her.  Paying the shipping to return something is not atypical, and she will probably keep it in the end anyway.

Does Ebay have an easy way to return?  Did you go through paypal?

If it clearly says no returns or exchanges, then stick to that.

Went through PayPal so I could easily refund her money but the eBay listing said "no returns or exchanges". It's actually a default that eBay puts on listings, I didn't type it in there or anything.

I wouldn't return it.  At most, say "bike jerseys are supposed to fit snugly".  Beyond that, I'd just say no.

Write back to her "It's not my fault you think you're a small, fatty boombalatty, I'm not in the business of boosting your self-esteem by agreeing that it's a petite small.  Gosh.  It says no returns.  Leave me alone."

Training our bodies to work efficiently in Zone 2 will help us keep our HR and pace even throughout an Ironman. This theory would hold true for the bike and run portion of an Ironman race.
