Veteran 267 Sterling, VA | Subject: RE: Sale on Javelin complete bikes I was in the same boat as you CKinsey, I am 5'10.5" (inseam 31". I went with the 57cm Varese on recommendation, then agonized that it was going to be too big. Geoff noted the actual geometry puts it at about a "long" 56cm vs. a "long" 57cm, so I am hopeful. I picked it up for the LBS yesterday after they built and tuned it for me, so once I get the seat and bars adjusted, I will report back what I found. Similar to you, I bought my dad a Fara. He is just a bit under me height wise (probably 5'9.5" and Geoff recommended that we go 55cm on the Fara for him. I will post on that as well once he gets the bike and sets it up. Kinda nerve-wracking though, because it is so important to fit well. However, I did the research, talked to both Geoff and Dave (I think it was Dave that says he too is 5'10" and rides a 57cm) and then took the plunge. Best of luck! Let us know how it goes. |

Pro 4089 Without house | Subject: RE: Sale on Javelin complete bikes Ah, yes, see...I keep forgetting about the top tube (I'm still fretting a little about my size choice (a 54)...I must get over it.) I'm 6'1" with a 36" inseam, but I'm a girl, and have a shorter torso by design. When I hop up on the seat, the reach to the handle bars is quite comfy. I'm going to be a bit higher, but I won't be putting a ton of stress on my back. I think I'm going to bring my pedals home today so I can try out something on the trainer. Veteran 158 Missoula | Subject: RE: Sale on Javelin complete bikes My Narni has landed. Fed Ex just delivered mine. I ordered it Friday. Ok, now I know why everyone loves their bikes. This thing looks ridiculous, and I haven't even taken the cardboard and plastic off it. |

What do you think of it? the Groupo? the wheels? Ya kinda playing 20 questions here. I got a 55cm Parma and he tob tube is 31" when wheel are on, giving me about 2" of standover. The wheels are Alex Rim DA13 and the wheels are Kenda. I am making the changes I want to make and hopefully will have it ready for a photo op by the end of next week. |

Expert 709 | Subject: RE: Sale on Javelin complete bikes I saw this yesterday and did a complete double take on the prices. I figured since the thread was kind of old that they would be sold out, but I called them anyway. I just puchased a Fara and hopefully will get it next week. I wasn't even in the market for a roadie but thought that this was to good to pass up. I'm fired up. Thanks Bear! |

, Texas | Subject: RE: Sale on Javelin complete bikes Here is my initial loose installation of my Varese that came today (orded Mon). The aerobar instructions that came were for a different setup (clipon A700 slam bar) and I've got to spend some time getting them setup and cables properly run. PS. I called yesterday to get tracking number and was told there are still some 57cm Narni's. They were out when I ordered, but they found some hiding in a corner. Anyway, here it is basically as packaged:
... and loosly assembled:
Yeah, thanks Bear. |

Champion 6993 Chicago, Illinois | Subject: RE: Sale on Javelin complete bikes how much do most places charge to build the bike? Should I get fitted at the same place I get it built? I can not wait to go and pick my bike up. I can not beleive they are located like 10 mins from my house. |

Veteran 158 Missoula | Subject: RE: Sale on Javelin complete bikes I took mine to a specific LBS because they have a good fitter there. I wish I lived closer to a dedicated tri store, but this is the best I can do for my area. I would find the best fitter first, then let them build it. |

The Narni is really easy to put together. Tighten a couple things, attach the handle bars, front wheel and brake caliper and you're set. After that, take it for a fitting and tune up. You should be good. I assembled mine no prob. |

Don't get me wrong, I'm going to get a fit done and everything, but, in general, I'm not one to pay for something I can do myself. Besides, I like putting stuff together. |

Master 1322 Chicago | Subject: RE: Sale on Javelin complete bikes Chi since your in my area... these #'s might reflect what you'll find in the area. I called around most places (Kozy etc) wanted $50.00 I took mine to Get A Grip because they sell higher end bikes, and I figured they would take excellent care of it and it wouldn't be some kid in the back messing things up. They were a bit more expensive $75.00 but they are giving it the whole tune-up and if your a Chicago Tri club member there is the discount. I think my Fara had more assembly though then your Narni as it looked like the braking system was all funky/Disconnected. |

Champion 6993 Chicago, Illinois | Subject: RE: Sale on Javelin complete bikes well I will try to put it together myself and see how it goes. The fit should put evertthing where it needs to be and I would not need to pay the extra $50 - $75. |

, Texas | Subject: RE: Sale on Javelin complete bikes As far as who does the assembly, different strokes for different folks. Personally, I feel there's not much I can't do myself and enjoy doing things myself. Did the Narni come with the shifter cables routed inside the aero extensions? I think we both have the same Oval A700 bars, but mine aren't routed internally and the cables are waaaay long. Looks like I'm going to to unwrap the bars and investigate .... or maybe I should go for a short ride first. |

The brake cables are pretty long, but I'll let them trim that when I go in for a fit and tune up. |

Thanks, at least now I know that when I unwrap the aero exension, I'll be able to reroute the cables inside the bars. I'm jealous though that mine didn't come that way. I sure hope I don't fray the cable or it's to the LBS for a new cable. Quick notes from a short, short ride around the neighborhood:
Hope everybody get's theirs quickly and is riding soon... Edited by camy 2008-03-20 6:05 PM |

Well, I just bought one parma from a co-worker but wont get it till next week. He bought 2 (one for him one for son) a tad to big, after I saw it decided to buy it another coworker is buying the other, a third coworker bought the Garda, and 3 others are thinking about it. I might end up being responsible for 8 bikes sold. |

Veteran 267 Sterling, VA | Subject: RE: Sale on Javelin complete bikes As soon as my Dad's Fara is assembled, I will have him send a picture over to add to the ones I took of the Parma and Varese that I bought. All will be stock (sans the Speedplay Zeros I put on the Varese), but I think they are hot. My daughter named the Varese "GoTek", for reasons unknown right now (she's two, so not quite up to really giving detailed explanations on what happens in her head). I kinda like it though. |
