I trained in Brownsville, Texas at sea level, and those freakin mountains in Idaho darn near killed me. |

I would describe most of the bike course as rolling as well. There are a couple pretty big hills, but that just adds to the challenge. If you are from Houston, you will call it hilly, instead of rolling. I'm originally from Houston, but I've lived in Austin for 15 years. As far as running loops, I'd prefer 2 loops, but running through the expo center would be horrible. Not sure which I'd rather do -- 3 loops or the expo center stuff. I vote to keep the hill. I can handle a big hill, even if it means 3x. I like a challenge. It's like running the 3M Half Marathon to get a good time instead of the Austin Half Marathon. I won't do it!! I want the challenge of the hills. Sounds like you are on the right track for a great race, Keith! Keep it up! I'm looking forward to it! P.S. Can you order some cooler weather?? That's the only thing that worries me, as I haven't run a Half Marathon in the heat EVER! LOL Kelli |

For Longhorn (with 2000 athletes last year), we went through 16,000 lbs of ice. 2 of our staff got heatstroke....we were exhausted and running on fumes by the time we actually got to the race days. Setting up for 5 days, 18 hrs a day, in that sun and heat just killed us. Honestly, it's one of the reasons the crew vetoed having the sprint this year. It was just a brutal week last year. Hoping for a normal low 80's day.... Then, we can get the crew back on board with having the sprint |

On the fence about signing up for my first HIM - although if I ever want to compete in a IM I've got to eventually get through a HIM. Need a week to buy flowers and a nice dinner for the wife to let me spend the money on this - after just getting back from Austin. |
