Edit: I think that I should not have posted what I posted, out of respect for her family. The information wasn't wrong, but ...  just not there yet.

I received a reply from the race organizer. He said he will consider out-of-state registrants as donations and adjust the headcount, but will still show as pre-paid registered runners.

Thanks for helping and contacting the race people, Renee.  And I love your avatar. Very special.

I'm incredibly sad following this thread and the outcome. I hope that some peace will come to the family through the many prayers said on their behalf. I will do the 5K virtually in her memory as well. I didn't know anything of Christine before this thread and I hope to read more about her - she sounds like a truly awesome person. Thanks for sharing and thanks to those of you who set up the race in her honor and memory.

Blessings -

Tracy

Does it matter, for the famiuly getting the money, if we are pre-paid, or can we also pay at the event?

Active.com charges a fee to the user/athlete to register online. I do not know whether they also charge a fee to the race organizer (and, thus, decreases the overall proceeds to the Rusher family).

If you register at the race, there are no additional fees. I'm registering at the race.

Anyone know if you can pay more than the registration fee? I'd like to make a donation on top of the race fee. Would that be the best place to do that?
