Can I get in on the challenge?  Put me down for 25 miles.  I've got a good reason for being so low on those miles.

I had to avoid running over a squished banana slug last weekend while riding my bike.  They are big and it would have made a mess all over my pretty bike.

So, I'm trying to figure out if the 2 messages are related...appology for low miles...banana slug & pretty bike protection...

Are you afraid that if you commit to higher miles you might have to face more banana slugs & mess up your shoes???

If so, it's the BEST reason I've heard to date!!!! Tongue out

I am in.  I am scheduled to run a marathon Oct 12.  However, I have been having serious running issues lately.  A challenge is just the thing I need to either get me back on track or completely rule out the marathon.....I am counting on getting back into the groove!  Put me in for 150 miles.

Artemis - 2008-08-22 7:55 PM Wow...that mascot is NOT safe for BT.  That's pretty crazy.
x2. I looked it up also. LOL

That is too funny!!!!!  Can you imagine being the dude who wears the mascot costume??

It is not pleasant.  Coastal Carolina played at GSU a few years ago.  The student section which is strategically placed behind the visiting bench, dumped beverages and food of all kinds on the kid.  How do I know?  I got hit a couple times when he stood next to me on the field.  I was acting as the visiting team's host.

A while back, we put together a list of the wimpiest and most unusual nicknames and mascots in sports. But earlier today, a reader sent us the team that's pretty much the hands-down winner. The Rhode Island School Of Design NADS.

Seriously. The mascot, pictured (obviously), is "Scrotie."

We wouldn't lie to you about this. That's a winner!

The key is Hands Down winner. But only for mascot...... Not a chance in the challenge! HA

Possibly!  I might have to add more miles since my runs will be zig zags around all of the banana slugs!  No point A to point B for me!

Being an alumni of another Gulf South Conference university....I gotta sport the Fightn' Okra.
A bit of history...Delta State originally were the DSU Statesmen. I don't blame them for the switch, I'd rather be a veggie then a politican too.

Other great mascots of the Gulf South Conference include:
The Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys
The Arkansas-Monticello Weevils
The Southern Arkansas Mule Riders
The Valdosta State Blazers

Put me down for 50 miles.

The worst part is that the mascot-wearer has to show his FACE! I mean, why couldn't it be one of those costumes where s/he looks out through little eye holes so no one knows who they are? How DOES one keep one's dignity in class? LOL!

100 for me.  That will get me motivated to get my shorter runs in!  Any team is fine by me (except for Okra, cuz okra is just nasty).

I'll post a new roster update tonight.

I might started adding a few people to existing teams.  If so, I'll post each new addition in the team thread as well as including it on the roster.

Go Okras!!
