Member 79 | Subject: RE: Ironman Cozumel : Official Thread Hi everyone, We have one room open in a 4 bedroom house that we have rented. The house is directly across from the beach and only a half mile from the swim start. It is rented from the 22nd through the 29th. We have 3 couples staying there right now. Shoot me an email at [email protected] if anyone would like some more info on staying with us. |

Expert 819 Cincinnati | Subject: RE: Ironman Cozumel : Official Thread I had the flu two weeks ago and I'm slowly getting some energy back. Lungs are the last to recover. I ran Saturday and could barely breathe the whole time even though I was going sloooowly. Arrrrgh! Luckily, I started training in November so I have a good base built up and I can take a few easy weeks without being too worried. Still, though, I can't wait until workouts aren't such a struggle. The heat does NOT help. The good news is that swimming is going quite well. Apparently it's easier on the lungs than the other two sports?? It feels very weird to have swimming as my fave right now. |

Expert 668 Lancaster, PA | Subject: RE: Ironman Cozumel : Official Thread I've been doing some stuff here and there but it is time to get serious.. This is second week running after knee surgery and so far so good. I have my good and bad days but mostly good. Right now is all about listening to the knee on how it feels and rolling with the punches. Certainly looking forward to this Ironman! How is everybody coming along?

Master 2158 | Subject: RE: Ironman Cozumel : Official Thread Hey All, Just signed up last night. I did Cozumel in 2010, the Great Floridian last year and IM NY/NJ last weekend! We stayed at the Palace last time, but it was sold out. Location was great. We found a smaller hotel/condo style place with a kitchen for this trip. Being downtown is great, as you can walk from the finish to your hotel. This is a great race, and everyone on the island was super supportive 2 years ago. I flew to Cancun and then taxied/ferried last time. Will probably do the same this time. However, I am thinking about letting TriBikeTransport handle my bike. The Ferry/Taxi can be a hassle with a bike, and the cost would work out to be close with airline fees on American being what they are. In 2010 it was a relatively hot day and by the 3rd loop on the bike, the wind was howling. Run course is flat and since you run through town 3 times, you get plenty of crowd pumping you up. Looking forward to seeing you all there!! |

Master 2158 | Subject: RE: Ironman Cozumel : Official Thread I think I saw it brought up earlier, but is anyone planning on using Tri Bike Transport? They weren't doing the race 2 years ago, and I know Cathy mentioned they had some trouble last year.
Any thoughts? |

Expert 668 Lancaster, PA | Subject: RE: Ironman Cozumel : Official Thread <\p>I will be using TBT- I read the same thing about having troubles getting the bikes there. I don't want to worry about the logistics with the bike. It will be enough worrying about the suit cases and rest oft the gear. |

Any thoughts? There wasn't just some trouble but a lot. Bikes arrived less than 24 hours before the start. Some were damaged and needed many repairs. To see so many scrambling for bikes was like seeing people fighting over food. Ugly! For the charge of $375 for the bike service to "handle" the bikes, it is best to fly with your own. |

Was this the case for your bike? can you put me in touch with someone who used them? I want to contact the company to ask about it, so I want to have specifics to refer to.

Member 108 | Subject: RE: Ironman Cozumel : Official Thread No, I did not use them because I flew Frontier -my bike was free and I don't trust such services. I talked to some who were not happy about the service. This link speaks volumes http://forum.slowtwitch.com/gforum.cgi?post=3682706;search_string=c... |

Master 2158 | Subject: RE: Ironman Cozumel : Official Thread Thanks for the link. However, it is NOT the same company. Even in the thread, it was made clear at the start that the complaints are about Trisport Express, NOT Tribike Transport. Tribike Transport has a pretty good reputation, and I think they are well known and trusted. Does anyone else have something about TBT and Cozumel? Thanks again though. Good information in case there is a problem. Edited by eliwashere 2012-08-21 9:52 AM |

Veteran 334 | Subject: RE: Ironman Cozumel : Official Thread TBT is not taking anything from Canada this year I was hoping to use them but have now found a bike box to use so Im bringing my own. Their website never had a pick up location in Canada (spcificly Ontario) so we called them and they said that they were`nt going pick up in our area. |

Good information in case there is a problem. My mistake for sending a link about the wrong company. I think all depends on from where you are coming and planning to do post race to decide on which route to take. I know that a bike box can be pricey on top of bike fees but to have your bike with you gives peace of mind. Last year I bought a box and flew Frontier Airlines so there was no charge. Which carrier are you flying and are you willing to rent a bike? I found a company in Cancun that rents bikes. |

Cozumel is a great swim - a great view - and only 1 loop like IMTX - I completed IMTX the 1st year not a bad swim. IMCOZ I don't remember any breakers, maybe a few minor swells but nothing rough - if you are a weak swimmer (like me) there is plenty of room to get out of the combat zone and pace. from there you can catch a tow on a like speed swimmer without fear of being ran over. the only crowded turn is at the submarine and this is easy to avoid by pushing out just a few feet. If you can take the time to look a the floor as you swim along also just before the gun dive down on look at all the folks treading water it's cool as hell. |

I'm super nervous about the swim. We have some somewhat choppy lakes around here but I'm landlocked and can't exactly practice swimming in the ocean. Last time I swam in the ocean I was in college, a bit under the influence, and I got caught in a riptide and thought I was going to drown. Hence the nerves. |

I've done a few of these things - I get a bout of nerves at each one - ocean swims can be challenging some are rougher than others - this one in my experience is on the lower end of the rough scale. There are tons of kayaks, jet skies, paddle boards, and even quite a few scuba divers keeping an eye out. |

Member 34 | Subject: RE: Ironman Cozumel : Official Thread I can't wait for the swim. I've heard its awesome. I just did an ocean swim at the Rev3 Maine Half which was really nice but I hate wetsuits. No way to do that swim without one. The idea of a nice clear WARM ocean swim seems great to me! |
