cdban66 - 2012-07-28 11:35 PM Good morning pod. I just finished the lawn mowing which was preceded by a bike ride of 25 miles and watching the Olympic road race. And a sad phone call from DD2, which is becoming a standard. Oh yeah, I also have pulled up the athlete tracker for Vineman. Janyne is outta the water in 1:37:41 and on the bike 28th in her AG, 708 overall. GO JANYNE!!!!

She is really, really solid and it's a gorgeous, friendly course. GO JANYNE!!!

I continue to pray for you and DD. Such painful circumstances but it's wonderful that she feels she can, and does, call you.

Thanks, as I've said before, it is tough not being available for her. But at least she can call, and she has the opportunity to figure out who she is. I pray she takes advantage of that opportunity. BTW, I was very happy (stunned???) to see that you took an extra rest day. Who are you?

Not only did I take an extra rest day this week ... I did nothing but take a walk today. Again, I coulda put in a trainer ride or any number of things, but I have a (semi) long run on tomorrow as well as a swim and I'd rather just put in a fresh, solid effort on key workouts than arbitrarily put volume in. Especially on a (self-imposed, I might add) pull-back week.

THANK YOU!

Good girl. Innocent

Caught some Olympics.  Just saw that Allen's country is offering the women's long course road cycling its most hospitable weather - driving rain, of course.  U.S. men's basketball is leading by a tiny bit, but seems weird, with all those multi-millioniares on the Olympic court.

Saw Lochte kill it at 400 IM last night. No medal for Phelps.  This will not be a repeat of Beijing, but who can be at the pinnacle 2x over an 8 year period?  Then watched tiny men swing on a bar and a horse.  Sort of weird.  Who made up pommel horse???

It's more fun watching the Olympics now that I have 4 sports that I do that are in the games Smile  So looking forward to dressage!!

Great Job Jayne!!! Smoking fast time. I was a DNS today as I rolled my ankle while helping to get the boat on the trailer. I'm ok just a bit gimpy and decided to skip it as I'm back on the bicycle tomorrow, RICE and Olympics for me today!

Congratulations Janyne!  Now I can go to sleep Smile

Thanks for you support! The race was good and the course just gorgeous. The bike is two loops with the connecting road ( T1 and T 2 are 17 miles apart) is in rough shape and uphill. It started to get hot during the last hour or two on the bike and on the run. The first two laps on the run were good. Stomach rebelled on lap 3 - dehydration?Overall, I'm pleased. Less than one hour more than B2B on s more difficult course.Next up, wine!Sorry for any formatting issues. Posting from the phone.

Thanks all!  I was pretty happy with my race--swim was good, bike I stuck to my plan.  By the time I started my run, it was pretty hot, and I think that, combined with the increase in altitude did me in a bit.  Anytime my heart rate got up around 145 I started to feel nauseous, so I had to do a run/walk.  It was an absolutely beautiful course, volunteers were fantastic, and lots of fan support.  One of the things that got me through the run was the fact that they had a beer garden at the finish.  When I finished, we went over to the tent where they were selling clothing cause I had seen something I wanted at the Expo.  As soon as we paid, I felt like I was really going to toss my cookies.  But there was no way I was going to disappoint Salty, so I waited for it to pass and then managed to get one down.  And, by the time I got home, the IPA's were cold and went down just fine!!  Feeling not too bad this morning--we'll see what happens later on in the day.  I'll get a race report up later.

Wow! Great racing Manatees!

I had a busy weekend with the inlaws and a visiting son, but I managed to get in most of my workouts.  I was hoping to do an OWS just to get the feel for it before my race next weekend but that didn't happen.  Oh well, I should be ok.

Here is a pic from when we took the inlaws to the Indian Cultural Center here:

Felicia - your post about Ben not wanting to take any of your opt-outs and wanting to finish ahead of the walkers was so wonderful and made me smile!  So cool!!  Congrats to you both, sounds like it is a very beautiful, interesting area.  Enjoy!!

My weekend report, in a nutshell (see my training log/blog for more details):

Sunset Stretch 5K: after a storm delay, we ran in the rain and were treated to a lovely double rainbow.  It was a small race, under 100 racers.  I not only got a recent running history 5K PR but I also won 2nd place in my AG!  Granted there only were 3 or 4 of us 30-39 year olds (bigger AG due to small race size), but I will take it!

Sunday I pre-rode the Rev3 Half Full course (32miles) in Maryland with a friend who is racing with me (this is the long story that is better told in my training log).  Reader's Digest version:  a good day (with the exception of my friend's minor crash) and we now both feel much better about the hills and know they aren't anything we can't handle.  My friend especially was concerned about them but she did fine.  A a lovely Fat Tire beer made us both feel even better when we stopped for lunch after the ride!
