If ND somehow wins the NC this year I swear to god I'm gonna lose it...

I hate Oregon. I'm also not a huge fan of ND. So now I have to root for KSU beating the snot out of one of them. Optimus Klein anybody?

I hate ND for the fact that they 1. refused to join a conf and 2. have been made by the media into this "dynasty" when they have pretty much sucked a football for the last 10+ years.

No reason to join a conference. Why share the $$$? I don't really see the media making them into a dynasty. They are ND with one of the biggest followings in the country. I am by NO means an ND fan. However, its more their fans I can't stand as opposed to the school or the team.

From a friend's FB post:

Let's see if I can get this right. The SEC has 6 teams in the top 10 of the BCS. #4 Alabama has one loss, to #8 Texas A&M. #5 Georgia has one loss, to #9 South Carolina. #6 Florida has one loss to #5 Georgia. #7 LSU has two losses, to #6 Florida and #4 Alabama. #8 Texas A&M has two losses, to #6 Florida and #7 LSU. And #9 South Carolina has two losses, to #6 FLorida and #7 LSU. Whew. SEC is beating each other up for sure this year.

Oh... and one more thing... Bama has only played LSU and A&M this season.  The only way they will face any of the others will be in SEC play-off   Championship.  LSU on other hand has seen all but Ga.  Just saying

jacasa - 2012-11-11 5:52 AM Looks like the Tide just lost in the quarter finals of the season long National Championship playoff. The nice thing about this very unique format is they aren't completely out of it. The semi finals set up nice with ND v USC, Oregon v OSU (no, the one that isn't on probation), K-State v Texas and Georgia v Alabama. Should be a very exciting next few weeks which is exactly what a playoff should be.

A nicely set up semi final is Notre Dame vs what could very possibly be an unranked 5th best team in the PAC-12?

Exactly. Their game vs. Boston College was a night game on national TV. And their upcoming barnburner against powerhouse Wake Forest is also the featured game on NBC. WHO CARES!? These are not premier games. I'd rather see the SEC teams beat up on each other.

That said, if things go as expected with ND and Nebraska both win out, they'll meet in the Rose Bowl. As a Nebraska fan, that scares me poopless.

I think the analysts are outthinking themselves putting ND in the Rose Bowl. Even if ND wins out, I think the Rose Bowl will take any eligible Pac-12 team first. I know many analysts are predicting no other team will be eligible, but I think either UCLA or Stanford or even possibly USC will finish the season somewhere between 12-14. Whether this will lead to the best game is debateable, but the Rose Bowl will pit the Big 10 vs the Pac 12 whenever possible.

I don't think it will be an issue though because I think the passing game of USC will be too much for a ND team whose defensive weakness is the secondary. They will play tough but give up 28 points, too many for their offense to match.

Stanford still has to play Oregon and UCLA still has to play Stanford and USC.

If the pundits are correct, Stanford will lose to Oregon and UCLA will lose on of their last two, or both.

If that scenario holds, and ND beats USC, then that's probably how it'll go down as no Pac 12 teams will be eligible.

Now, if USC beats ND or Stanford beats Oregon or Kansas State loses, then yes, that obviously turns everything on its head.

If Stanford loses to Oregon this week, they will have losses to #2 and #25 in the BCS, and a "loss" to #3. Combine that with a win over a UCLA team that will be top 15 with a win over 'SC and likely top 20 regardless and I think they will still be sitting right around the 14 mark.

If UCLA beats SC and Stanford and then gets punked by Oregon, I think they will be playing the waiting game to see if they get in.

I think the crazy part is that the loser of the SEC championship game will almost certainly drop out of a BCS game. Only in college football are you punished for winning your division. You could see the same thing in the Pac-12

Sadly for me, none of this matters. Nebraska will get killed in the Rose Bowl regardless of whether they play ND, Stanford or UCLA again. I just want the Huskers to be relevant again!

Believe me, I understand. UCLA is ranked ahead of USC for the first time in over a decade. It has been a dark last decade.

Yeah? Well while all of you guys are arguing over who will hold the top spot my alma mater, Southern Miss, has a stranglehold on DEAD LAST! Hey, at least we are the best at being the worst. So when you get mad cause your team loses their first game this year, you could be rooting for the team who has lost ALL their games this year! Haha. All I can do is laugh at this point.

The rankings always crack me up.  UCLA beat Nebraska and have the same record, but Nebraska is ranked higher than UCLA in both polls. Cool

I went to the Nebraska Southern Miss game this year.

THanks for being bad. WE needed the non-conference win!

Well, seeing as how only one of those opponents has a pulse, I would assume that would be the one you are picking. As you saw against Pitt though, the opponent doesn't necessarily need a pulse to beat them.No one loses this week though.

Here is how I see it falling out:

-No one loses this week

-ND goes down to South Central, solidifying the title game

-Someone more deserving in the SEC gets bumped out a BCS game for someone more popular

-Oregon scores 70 in the NC

-Chip Kelly gets the coaching job in Tampa Bay

-Oregon fades over the next 2 years, before getting decimated by NCAA sanctions ala Calipari

-in 2 years Kelly is back in NCAA, untarnished by the scandal he created at Oregon, after being a miserable failure in the NFL

- In 15 years, Snyder will still be coaching K-State

I think you don't mean Kelly to Tampa Bay? Schiano has doen an admiral job there (GOD THAT WAS PAINFUL TO WRITE!!!)

Maybe Dallas, likley Philly and if they make a splash and go for it, Jacksonville. But ownership wants them to remain bad and move to LA anyway.

Bah, I meant Jacksonville. It's easy to get one traditionally bad Florida team confused with another.

I still think we will see one and probably two more upsets.  Ok St lost to Iowa St. late last year when everyone thought they were a shoe in (they were 28 point road favorites).  There are a ton of legitimate possibilities still in play...including Georgia getting to the title game if two of the top 3 lose and they beat Bama in the SEC championship.

This time of year, there is something to be said about playing with everything to lose vs. playing with nothing to lose.  These are 18-22 year olds, and the pressure will get to them.  Teams like USC, Baylor, Texas, Oregon St, and Stanford will show up and come out swinging.

When all is said and done...I think 2 of the top 3 lose, and the SEC champ gets into the BCS title game.

Admiral like this?

Is that because he has a ship in his end-zone???

Sorry.  I jest.

Alabama would not have been shut out if the would have beat A&M and lost in the SEC CG. That is why the regular season is so interesting to me.
