good job!!!!

I ended up taking yesterday off - just exhausted from last week in the office and big (for me) training weekend. I feel like I am fighting one of the viral plagues I am constantly exposed to. I cannot get sick! 10 weeks out from San Juan 70.3!

SpeedKnight - 2013-01-07 6:02 PM Nothing like a cold to derail one's training for a half mary. It doesn't make sense that I'm getting sick more often since adopting a healthier lifestyle.

I feel your pain. I may have to defer on my marathon (and it was to be my first) because of 3 weeks of being ill. One of my acquaintances uses this as a n excuse NOT to exercise- she doesn't often catch colds. But then she is way over weight and has heart A fib and high blood pressure.....

I'll not trade.

My gym scale was most unkind to me today, I know I did not eat enough to GAIN 3 lbs over the past few days.  I may have to get my own freaking scale soon cause I am tired of the fluctuations the gym scale gives.

Anyone else watch The Biggest Loser?

I know that video is edited to create impressions and that it is extreme, but I do like to see people get pushed - it inspires me to know I can do more. I also get to like some of the contestants. Sorry I missed the first hour, but caught the elimination.

Hi everyone, I'm late, but hope I can join in on the festivities! My name is Jordan. Currently I'm 226lbs at 6ft tall.

Mini- Goal: I've been running very consistently, I need to start ramping my biking back up. I also need to stay away from after dinner cravings. that is my biggest issue.

Long Term Goals:  I'm going to be 195lbs by Vineman 70.3 in July 2012. I also am going to better my personal best at the HIM distance by breaking 6hours.

Cardio: i actually do good with workouts, I average about 30mpw running, but need to ramp up the biking to about 70mpw.

Strength I'm going to try to limit this to yoga for this offseason. That might be weird, but I came from a football, shot putt, and rugby background. So I have quite a bit of muscle mass already on my frame.

Nutrition:  Nothing overly dramatic here, I'm not interesting in dieting. To me that creates the mindset of a short term solution to a problem. I plan on eating correctly for my fitness to accomplish my body fat goals. The largest concern with my nutrition it to eliminate after dinner cravings before bed.

Cheating: just eliminating the after dinner snacks.

Pictures: I'll take pics and show the results in July.

Guilty.  Haven't watched last nights yet.  Despite my outward rugged tough guy persona, I'm a bit of a softy for stories of inpsiration and triumph.

Welcome Jordan!  I live over in Tiburon, we are not too far apart!  I will probably ride the Vineman course some time in March, would love some company!

Yes, definitely! I watched a video on it and it looked like a good challenge. I'm jealous of where you are at. I make it a point to do the tiburon loop as often as possible, I love that area!

Feeling better today. Body isn't racked with pain, so that's an improvement.

I will pound the pavement for about 6.5 miles tonight, come hell or high water! SAdly, I'm still congested, so it will be a laborious 6.5 miles. I gotta get back on track with training for this half mary, though.

I'm also trying to develop a training plan for a sprint on June 2nd. Then an Oly on June 30. Good times!

I've noticed that somtimes people specify the race distances they plan to do and often don't. Is there some convention that a certain distance race is assumed if not specified?

Am enjoying the group comments.

I wouldn't think so in particular.  There are some exceptions I suppose for really well known long established races, but for the most part I would think you'd do best to put the distance.

That being said i signed up for a race 2 weeks from now.  Just a short Salute to Service Members 5K.  I cheered my wife on in this race last year.  Because of my proximity to San Antonio (huge military town) and Ft. Sam Houston Army Medical Center we see/saw a lot of veterans with prosthetics, especially in this run as it benefits Operation Comfort which works with veterans that have been wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan.  Probably won't be setting a PR, but the race was such an inspiration I couldn't resist the call.

The next week my wife and oldest daughter are running in a Graffiti run.  My other two kids are going with me to volunteer on the Graffiti crew at one station "coloring" the runners.

Been eating a lot better this week, and the weather and my schedule has allowed me to get more exercise in, its been a good week and I'm looking forward to this Friday.

Well I am pretty tired of being sick - have had this cold for 10 days now and it is not letting up.  Seeing my doctor this afternoon to get checked out.  I am seldom sick, but the past month has been one thing after another.   Have not been running because I don't think it helped me on the days I did.  Consciously upping me water intake and trying to eat healthy so I don't gain another pound, at 140 this morning so holding.

I just want to feel healthy again so I can get back to training.

Losing weight, but bone-tired. I'm going to take a total rest day today, but I'm not sure what is going on. I'm sleeping enough (7+ hours/night), eating enough (according to MFP) and drinking plenty of water. Tons of protein, not much carbs, real food, only caffeine = a mug of joe in the morning.

Other than taking a rest day, any advice?

Are you fighting off any kind of illness? A rest day is probably just what the doctor ordered.
