What's everyone got going on? I have my first tri of the year this weekend, so that's my primary focus. I've a dinner tonight ... then a weekend filled with friends and working out and some sunning by the pool! I may even clean my closet! Living large! Look at you on top |

I have my first tri of the year this weekend, so that's my primary focus. Going away party for a girlfriend tomorrow. I tried to set up a drink date after the party with the guy I cancelled on last weekend but he replied that he's moving to Texas. Alllllrightythen. Saturday I'm attending a gala with a friend, who happens to be the roomate of a guy I kind-of-used-to-but-not-really date. I'm going as his (the roomate's) plus one, a little black dress kind of event. The event is actually FOR the guy I used to date, he's doing mega-fundraising for LLS and this is the grand finale. Confusing. Anyway. I'm really looking forward to it |

I gave her a chance to re-schedule, but I am not holding my breath. As for the weekend, It is supposed to finally be in the 70's so looking forward to my first outdoor ride of the season on Sunday! Going to see a friends band play tomorrow night, running with a potential new tri group on Saturday, and a birthday party Saturday night. |

Date #3 tomorrow night. Same exact restaurant that I went to last night. What's funny is both guys grew up in my town (but don't live here now) and they both chose the place. Fingers crossed it's at least a pleasant evening. I've got my second date with the NG guy from Tues night on Sat. We're either going hiking or kayaking. I'm excited for either but like the total woman I am, am concerned about what to wear. All my non-work clothes right now are SBR centric. |

Expert 1028 Detroit, MI. Kinda. | Subject: RE: Triathlon Dating Thread Ver 3.0 Sounds like most of us are solo but have fun plans... good luck at your gala, Lisa! Crossfit chick is out of town, so I'm on my own this weekend. Movie later with some other crossfit people...something about bodybuilders turning into violent criminals involved in the drugs... Hmm, how come you never hear stories of gangs of violent, criminal endurance athletes? So a couple months in and it's this girls birthday next Saturday. I hate that first special occasion - how much gift is too much... how much is too little... We'll be rock climbing in Kentucky with some of my friends..rock climbing gear might be appreciated, but seems too predictable. She wanted a to start a vegetable garden this year but hasn't had time and the clock is ticking to get plants started. Maybe I'll make her a container garden with stuff she can transplant if she gets around to digging up her yard. She won't eat cake...but I should do something. Ideas for clever, gluten-free birthday thing? |

Ideas for clever, gluten-free birthday thing? I like the gardening birthday gift--what about giving her the gift of digging up her yard and helping her plant the seeds/plants? You could make a date out of it. Some women tend to really like tasks of service (if you haven't read about the "5 love languages" I would suggest it); she could get her garden in, you could get major bonus points, you'd both probably get dirty, etc... Do they have gluten free bakeries in Detroit? We have one here that does great gluten free stuff--flourless chocolate torte, beautiful fruit tortes. I'm a big fan of crème brûlée with fresh raspberries. It's not difficult to make, if you're so inclined. |

Favorite musicians, comedians, plays in town, or even a few hours away (make it a weekend)? Is she just gluten free or all the way paleo? I can give you ideas for both |

Alpharetta, Georgia | Subject: RE: Triathlon Dating Thread Ver 3.0 How much time do you want to spend making a dessert and how good of a cook are you? Just as an example here's a web site with 100s of gluten free dessert recipes. As for things I've personally made... Cheesecake is a good gluten free dessert (just make it "no crust" or use the paleo style nut crust), it would have to be a raw cheesecake for paleo. 3-minute chocolate paleo mug cake - make them in some new cute mugs and include as the gift? EASY peanut butter cookies: 1 cup peanut butter, 1 cup sugar (or Splenda mix), 1 egg. Roll into balls, smash with fork, bake at 350 degrees 10-12 minutes. Stroll into any grocery store with a natural/GF foods section and pick up a boxed mix for gluten free brownies, cookies, cake, etc. |

Expert 1028 Detroit, MI. Kinda. | Subject: RE: Triathlon Dating Thread Ver 3.0 Thanks for all the suggestions! I'll definitely be there when yard-digging happens..but I'd like something to surprise her with. She's not 100% paleo (but does stay gluten-free, except that she's willing to suffer for beer sometimes), but we both tend to keep paleo principles in mind. Mostly limiting simple sugars, grains...I do know she likes Trader Joes dark chocolate and something called a date bar from a local baker. And she LOVES peanut butter...so one of those recipes might work. I really want to make the easy PB cookies right now. For me! I originally though of making basically a tray of chocolate covered PB/banana bites, which I know she loves...but I'm going to look through the sites you guys provided. I'll put some time into it.
RE: Bad kissing - I've been told before that I'm lucky I'm a good kisser because girls won't give a guy a second chance if they give a good first kiss, even if other things are good. I'm not sure I understand. Not every first roll in the hay is the best either... Sure, it's awesome when it just works - but sometimes it takes a little learning eachother. This one chick really did weird me out with her kissing technique, (I was thinking "WTF? Is she trying to whip an egg in there?") but just persisted with my thing and more or less forced things to slow down. |

Alpharetta, Georgia | Subject: RE: Triathlon Dating Thread Ver 3.0 My date last night was definitely a "date" date (I wasn't sure if we were just going to this event as friends or what, since we've been friends for like 15 years). Had a metric ton of fun! Got to get all dressed up, picked up by a driver, sat next to some VERY generous people at a charity auction. As for the guy, he has some wonderful qualities - he's driven, successful, funny, generous, well-traveled and well-spoken. On the "hmm" side he has a 11-year-old child from an early marriage and could lose like 40 pounds. I hate pointing out the weight thing, and it may not even be a "thing" but I am definitely more attracted to fit men. It's not a deal breaker but ya know. He's asked me to another event next weekend, and wants to get together between now and then. Haven't set anything up yet but I will - I think I want to know more about him. |
