I just got a W2 in the mail. I think I have to pay some taxes in the U.S. even though I didn't suck off the government teat in all of 2011. Bunk.

Hi from sunny Tennessee.  Had a good dinner out with JWKMH last night, but Tuesday is bachelor night.  It is a weekly thing, and I am not a fan.

We have to get our Brazilian daughter's tax stuff together for her US return and get it to the accountant.  Even that much is a hassle.  I no longer feel competent to do taxes myself.  I wish it were not so.

Tax codes are so eff'd up.

And really I didn't use any of the government roads, trash, police or fire department for a whole year. Why do i have to pay taxes? I paid them here in England. At a 40 percent rate. Again, bunk.

I know NOTHING about taxes, but do you have a "tax guy" or do you do them yourself?  If you have someone, check and see if you qualify for any kind of "rebate" for the taxes you paid in England.

Get some tax help on this.  I don't think you will owe any income tax.  You do get credit for income taxes paid to country of residence.  I am not sure about SS and medicare taxes.  You will be using those in the future.

OK just saw that anythink over a certain amount is taxable. But I think with my condo taxes and interest and my student loan interest and all that I should be good to go. Looks like I only paid about $1,500 in taxes all year so its' all good. Our company pays Deloitte & Douche to do our taxes so I am unconcerned. It'll all work out.

Only 10 minutes then you can go ride George.

He probably feels neglected since you ride him so infrequently. I know how much he likes to make you sweat.

My boss is not being very team-work-y today. It's quite ironic.

Also we started our daily 5-minute "stand up" meetings today. It lasted 20 minutes. Yell

Hey TAN

I must confess I broke a rule and drifted into TT and found out that I must be at least 4+ SD away from ever doing a proper flip turn and that my slow as heck open turn even sucks.  What is worse is that even if I announce a small achievement it will result in a 6 page rant  that can even put a hot as heck super girl in a grumpy mood.  Even if my name was George I am not sure that would cheer me up but I am willing to try.

Kate what shall be my pennance for a TT violation.

Looks like your work has picked up the fad in the software industry from the last few years:

Agile Software Development

Where we have meetings just for meetings sake and create oodles of micromanagement overhead.  Whee!  Welcome to the new way of thinking Yell

Side note: it's a really good system for mid level managers because it makes them look busy all the time.  So if you're one of those, disregard ... haha.

I've been here long enough to have been through two cycles of "WE NEED DAILY STAND UP MEETINGS! EVARY DAY! WHITE BOARDS! STATUSES! I AM BUSY!". It usually goes on for a few months, and then either people stop coming because it is completely void of value, or the meetings turn into full blown staff meetings (like today) and the manager finally realizes it's keeping his staff from doing their actual jobs.

My money is on the latter for this one.

I just don't understand why he is greater than 4 standard deviations away from doing a flip turn properly...  Then again my brain is getting a little mushy.
