Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() GoFaster - 2012-10-31 10:09 AM I brought it back to the LBS yesterday and they took pics and said they would email Trek and should hear back in the next few days. They also expected that Trek would offer a replacement. The frame is 5 years old, so I think I will be faced with the costs of maybe a new headset and bottom bracket - maybe the crank as well, I'm not sure. Dollars I didn't really want to spend, but will likely have to. I brought my Cervelo R3 in for a tune up. They found a crack, called Cervelo and a frame was on it's way before I knew what was going on. My frame was a 2010, I got a 2012 replacement. Because the BB were not compatible, Cervelo provided a new BB. They called the LBS asked what crank etc I had and provided all the parts to make things work. Because the color schemes changed, the LBS changed my seat post and saddle to make them match. Because the geometry was slightly different, the LBS re-fit me. So I got a newer frame with the new Cervelo BB standard, a refit, new components (seat&post)....all for the price of a tune-up. Now that's service ! |

Wow, I could only hope, but I doubt I'll get that lucky. It's a 5 year old aluminum frame, so I don't know that the service will be to the same degree. We'll see... |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Did a 5K run test today...wowser was that some sort of pain! Not to mention that it was blowing 15-20mph sustained from the leftovers of Sandy. Not a great test pace wise due to the conditions but the effort was there. I do not look forward to that test solo again in 8 weeks - probably will find a race instead!

![]() Pulled the trigger on a 910xt. I've been thinking about it for a few weeks, then suddenly my 405 can't hold a charge, so that made the decision easy. Total cost after rebate should be less than $300. ![]() |

Tried a reset but doesn't seem to have helped. That is what was happening with mine. I went through it, sent it to them and got a refurbished one back and it did well for a while and then the same thing. Eventually even their lame minor waterproofing seal breaks and then you are hosed. You need the full on waterproofing. I just got tired of dealing with it. And the 910xt sits much nicer on the wrist. Way more comfortable. |

![]() GoFaster - 2012-10-31 9:11 AM Jason - how did you manage this price? I'm looking at $400 without HR strap. Art's cyclery (online) has it for $400, then you apply the "save20" discount code to get it down to $320. Garmin is also offering a $50 rebate for students for purchases on the 910xt or FR610 until Nov 15th. Copy of reciept, cutout of UPC, and form must be mailed by Nov 30th. http://garmin.blogs.com/files/garmincoach_rebate.pdf To qualify, you just need a photo copy of a student ID. I'm using the student ID of a coworkers kid. I admit it's not the most ethical thing to do...but sigh...I have my faults. Art's Cyclery offers free shipping to the US, but excludes Hawaii, so I have to pay $27 for shipping. So 320+27-50 is $297. Not sure how they do shipping to Canada. |

I agree. Our 305 (the second) one stopped holding charge I actually downgraded to the new Forerunner 10. It's just like wearing a watch. Has everything I need (no HR) and was "only" $100. I hate to keep giving Garmin my money, this is my 4th Garmin watch, but I keep doing it! |

Of course, the software is pretty bad compared to Garmin, but for the price, it rocks, and does what i need. |

Same here. Very happy with it, especially after I learned to leave it on the car bumper (and not my wrist) to locate the satellites! |

Both of them were bought as factory refurbs for a little over $100. I think we got our money's worth. |

My satellite issues were solved when i moved from South Florida to Tucson :-P It's a little big on me, but I've worn it for a 70.3 and a marathon and was never tempted to throw it away. |

Master![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Fred D - 2012-10-31 2:40 PM I ended up getting some lab tests today as I have felt rather run down. All came back normal, but interestingly enough I saw my hematocrit result.... 46 was the number. For those that know anything about cycling, that is a borderline 'doping' number. The UCI used to flag any results over 50 as 'presumed doping'. I can assure all of you I'm not on anything at all, but it probably explains why I have been reasonably good at endurance events despite having poor flexibility and a very poor sleep/work schedule. Just thought I would share. I think that's still a normal / safe range though, right? My last 2 labs came back 46 and 47, but didn't even raise an eyebrow from the doctors investigating my blood clot. And I live at sea level. Edited by spudone 2012-10-31 4:48 PM |

Just thought I would share. I had blood work done the past 2 years at work and the last test was earlier this month. I think my hematocrit level was 46.7% last year and 41.6% this year. 42% was the borderline low level according to the results they mailed to me. Not sure why the numbers dropped off so much. I did a quick search online and the numbers can be affected by diet and hydration. |
