I haven't been in much at all due to work and all the extra work piled on in the past couple of years, and with the loss of a colleague who actually wasn't much of a colleague to begin with.

Things have settled slightly today and I actually breathed and thought "I should stop in today and check out wazzup". Glad I did after seeing Pittsters demise.

IM training is hiting the heaviest workload coming up in the next 3 - 4 weeks, too.

Y'all be good, take care, hold da fort down, keep TAN moving, and stay healthy, happy, and sexxeh.

Next time someone asks me if I have a slow day planned, I am just going to get ready for it to hit the fan! Been insanely busy all day and still have stuff to do tonight!

But tonight is the good kind of busy. We go to a men's shelter and serve food every third Monday of the month and it is always humbling to see these guys who are in good spirits, thankful for a meal while I complain about stuff that really is not a big deal.

I'm soooo dehydrated (from IM training - less then 2 weeks! )!

Downed 20oz Gatorade first thing in the morning, had ~16oz coffee at work, and 20oz of water... no potty time yet.

That's very cool!

Gratitude is one seriously powerful attitude adjuster.  Anything that helps keep even a little humility in your life is something to be cultivated.

Sounds like my yesterday.  Dranks bunches of fluids before my race and tons all day long, but no potty break at all until nearly 9pm.

Super-compensating today and the rest of the week.

that makes me want to pee just reading that.

but I have a small bladder as well. I have had 56 oz of water at work today and about 12 oz of coffee. I might install a catheter soon. But I am going out to ride after work and it is so humid I want to be hydrated as all heck.

Nothing yet.  Lots of gossip after the official notice went out to the plant yesterday after work.  Another meeting today with (now former) boss.  New boss still hasn't said anything to me/any of our group.

Tricky. Could be a good time to make a play though and try and leverage it into something else rather than taking a passive role. The problem is if it goes wrong... Maybe comes down to how aggressive you want to be career-wise.

Sounds like they may be doing a little read-and-react... waiting to see how things are received.  Good luck with it!

Morning TAN.  Started dog-sitting for the girlfriend this week while she travels to Vermont for a family thing... so, I have two pups in the house now   I haven't had a dog in here since I lost my last one almost two years ago... it's nice having pups in the house again.

new-boss is pretty unanimously hated around here.  he is also the type to put himself before his employees.  he will NOT be helping my career at all.

i realllly like the position i'm in, really no interest in moving just yet, but if a PM job opens up i WANT IT.  and i have a mentor-type guy here that can make that happen.

Morning TANners, learned my lesson yesterday bragging about being ahead and all. "Pride goeth before the fall" as they say and the good Lord smote me pretty good under an avalanche of work yesterday shortly after posting.

Hope all is well for everyone else.

former boss held a meeting with us today and asked us to PLEASE give new boss a chance, he really has worked on changing.

bad sign, i think.

Could go either way. On the one hand by the old boss mentioning this they know there's issues and could mean the new guy coming in with an 'or else' hanging over him. I can't speak for all European companies but more than ever the majority are more focused on bottom line and results these days. Included in that is retention. For the new guy to succeed, he's going to have to have the support of the people that work for him. Either that or be strong enough to carry an entire department. Don't know maybe he can maybe he can't. Good luck though...

I'd agree that it is a good sign that he mentioned it... that means that he and those in the next tier up are aware of the new guy's reputation and he has most likely been spoken to about it.  It also says quite loudly that the company is at least somewhat concerned about how this move is being perceived.

In the end, though, if retention isn't affected and work gets done, nobody higher up will care how he does it.

Oof well it ssounds like old boss is more in touch with reality than new boss. Bad sign indeed.
