Asalzwed - 2013-01-15 2:46 AM TriAya - 2013-01-14 12:29 PM Asalzwed - 2013-01-15 2:22 AM I did my 18-miler on Saturday with 8 miles @ race pace (ish) I had to do the 8 miles at the beginning instead of the middle since a friend (and his dog) were meeting me for the last 10. The whole run was really nice. I made some silly decisions (didn't take in any calories. WHY? I don't know! I had food with me...) But whatev. I was a good run. Afterwards I had to haul azz up to the track to watch Galen Rupp run the mile. It was incredible!!! Here are a few pictures, as you can see I need a faster shutter speed to catch him running:
I had sat down to watch the vaulting after I watched the mile and totally randomly (I wasn't being a creeper) Galen came and sat next to me to do his post race stretching and change his clothes. I got to hear he and Alberto Salazar go over the race together. Such a cool experience!!! Sunday I was wiped. I knew I just needed a solid day of R&R . So that's what I did. I am very thankful this is a step back week. I need it. Drool. Drool!!! Flash drool! Glad you took the needed time on Sunday. Ah ha, some people are attracted to speed hahahaha. I couldn't believe how petite he was. He was like a little Keebler elf. Um also, Mary Cain. Holy forkin' hell. She is a sophmore in HIGH SCHOOL beating out all the Nike Oregon Project girls with the fastest EVER time. 1 Cain, Mary Unattached 9:08.00 9:02.10 2 Erdmann, Tara Nike Oregon Proj 9:05.00 9:02.96 3 Moser, Treniere Nike Oregon Proj 9:05.00 9:03.54
There was a thread about her on ST. Bat outta hell Batman! |

I AVERAGED 2:15 for my 300!!!!! And 2:18 for my 400!!!! And 2:22 for my 500!!! What makes this even more special is the fact that this pool is in yards!!!! I really think the improvement is taking the time to slow down and think about the tips from the swim talk here lately, do some drills to reinforce good form, and keep the Yanti-avvy in my mind. WooHoo! SCHPANKS CONGRATS!!!!! One thing (the main thing) I've been focusing on in the swim lately is to get as big a "scoop" of water as I can to put behind me. |

Master 2770 Central Kansas | Subject: RE: Mad Manatees Mentor Group - VERY CLOSED!!! Sorry! Well, I took a rest day yesterday. The first rest day I've had since I was sick on the day after Thanksgiving. It felt kind of weird. I didn't like it much. We are trying not to get sick here. My middle son stayed home today, and all of the rest of us are coughing, but I am hoping it doesn't turn into much. The little guy and I both had flu shots, so I am hopeful. I'm planning to run four miles this afternoon before spin class at 4:30. |

Seattle | Subject: RE: Mad Manatees Mentor Group - VERY CLOSED!!! Sorry! I don't think this is the most telling, but it's the only one I could find: and it's not exactly apples to apples comparing workout attire and wedding attire, but you get the idea anyhoo Eeks, I think I have lost about 40 lb. It's a little weird to actually say that aloud. Sometimes people look at my ID photo and stuff and say, "Holy crap you lost A LOT of weight!" I used to get really embarrassed but whatev, I'm just gonna own it. I've worked hard. |

I used to get really embarrassed but whatev, I'm just gonna own it. I've worked hard. I get that a lot too. My work credential photo was taken about 40 pounds ago. It's funny because people who knew me before I lost weight but hadn't seen me for a while say "Wow, you look..." and they do the pregnant pause. I finish it for them, "Yeah, I know, I look OLDER" because the wrinkles are more apparent without the extra fat. I'm good with that. I feel great. |

There are so many things I am amazed and inspired by from my mother, but the fact that she spent a great deal of time tromping around Indonesia going where no white person (never mind woman) had gone before and becoming an expert on Indonesian cultural heritage (no mean feat; we have hundreds of distinct cultural/ethnic/language groups here) still and will always have a profound impact on me ... it meant she was gone a lot during my school days but I don't miss that time at all, and when she was there, she was really THERE. |

I don't give my mom enough credit. Even though we clash on A LOT of stuff, she has really shaped a lot of the qualities about myself that I value. She was/is such a unique individual. She is always on the lookout for fun and adventure and has been as long as I can remember. |
