Excellent on the longest workouts.  Keep it comin'.  Love it.
Warm Gatorade...sometimes it just has to be done.
Off to Steelhead Ironman 70.3 this afternoon.  Decided to nix the tri brief idea after the agressive (freaks) response from grit nugget.  I'm thinking I'll avoid any possible assults with any other anti-tri-brief-ites. It would be a shame to be the one who provoked the media spattered news of a massive hate crime which would overshadow the accomplishments of the atheltes on hand. Smile
Speaking of athletes on hand, the a** kickin' Andy Potts will be toeing the line.  Should be cool.
Peace,
Tri Sam

Well we broke a record here in the ville, for the month of July not a single day in the 90's in recorded history. I don't think its going to last for race day, 90's predicted for next week. Hopefully it will be very low 90's for race day and be the coolest IMLOU yet.

Longest 2 days for me, 114 mile bike 4100m swim and 20.7 mile run all in 90+ degree temps. I'm glad I got the training in, but I sure hope its cooler, the long run was rough. I had at least 150oz of gatorade/Nuun and was not going very fast at the end. Good luck to everyone and stay safe, we are too close now for problems. Jim

Yup I was so scared when I saw the calendar that I ran right out an knocked off a 140 mile ride in the freaking rain today......I might be dry by Tuesday!

Oh well......it will be what is going to be...with my injured calf, I'm almost afraid to run for fear of "re-igniting" the beast in there.....think I'm going to hold off taper a week and just hammer the bike miles so the legs are fresh coming off the on race day and see how far I can run??  We'll see....two more weekends of seriously overmileage bike rides then I'll taper down......thinking 150+ next week then 160 the following??

Wow now that is above and beyond. Good job. I have my first ever 100 miler tomorrow and I will run for 30 minutes right after that. I am pretty excited!

Broke both my wrists in my last race.

So today's long ride turned into five hours on the trainer in my basement.  I have never been so glad to finish a workout.

O.M.G.  Those distances are insane.  In a good way.

Good luck with your injury.

Rain & storms put a damper on a couple of my late week workouts also. But, I think i needed a little rest going into last big week. Just could'nt make myself get on that trainer one more time. One more long ride next Sunday & downhill from there!!!! This year has flown by so fast.

Yesterday I got another ride in the rain.  Supposed to be a century but cut it short.  I'm starting to think it's an omen.  That's like 5 rides in the rain this year.

Going to skip today's run and swim and get in another ride.

Finished my last long run today....22.65 miles.  It's cool how when you increase your mileage on the run it feels much better running through a certain mile than it did the last time.  Like one of my runs last month was 17 miles and i was starting to hurt towards the end....Well today when i ran through mile 17 my legs felt great.

I was supposed to do 20 today but a thunderstorm cut that to 14. I felt great the whole way so that's a good thing. I'll make up the milage next week when I'll add a few miles to a 15 miler.

Reading all of these impressive workouts is inspiring.  Sorry about the rainouts to those who had to deal with that.
Finished Steelhead Ironman 70.3 about the way I expected to.  It was a solid, yet controlled effort.  All my pieces and parts held together ok for the most part.  I had some issues with my right hip and left foot around 12.5 miles of the run, but I expected this possiblity much sooner, so it was a good deal.
I still don't know what the official results are since they have not been posted on the website, but if you are curious, my UNofficial finish time was 5:05:39.  I expected to be between 5 and 5.5 hours, so this was good.  I didn't try to crush the course so that I could recover relatively quickly and still have a solid race-like workout.  One more LONG ride and LONG run, a couple LONG swims, and the rest is filler and rest.  Gettin' closer baby!  My bike's going in for a tune-up tomorrow.
Peace,
Tri Sam
