Champion 7163 Verona WI--Ironman Bike Country! | Subject: RE: Fred D and Queen Zipp's SWIM, BIKE RUN consistency thread.... CLOSED Is today weigh in day? Took off another 1lb so I am down to 104lb! I guess that means I am about 2lbs away from my in-season goal. Hope I can hang tough since this is my birthday month and the celebrations continue with two dinners this weekend. Weather here is still miserable, but I managed a short run in 34F and sleet. For all of you in warm weather climates, enjoy all the weekend has to offer! |

Master 7712 Orlando | Subject: RE: Fred D and Queen Zipp's SWIM, BIKE RUN consistency thread.... CLOSED I've been under the weather this week, so haven't gotten too much in; I did swim this morning and am making strides with my stroke. Hopefully, I can remember the changes next time I'm at the pool! tomorrow my running group puts on an unofficial HM. It is called the Left Behind, Left Over HM and was first started for those in the group who weren't going to Boston ( thus the left behind) and at the end of the run we can pick up shirts and awards left over from the various races the LRS puts on during the year. I don't know why people want an award that they didn't earn, but they do! I do like getting the shirts though, saves me from buying new ones to run in. |

CLOSED enders_shadow - 2013-04-11 7:05 AM Travel day today - headed to Chicago for work. Missed my swim this morning...supposed to be a drop-back week, but I haven't been really dropping back - so my body decided to make me listen. 153.4! Yeah for me! Getting so close to my first big goal. (Hopefully this will compel me to eat better on this business trip...and I have my running shoes with me.) Uh. No. A good weight before I left home is NOT keeping me from eating like crap on this trip. Last night I enjoyed my splurge (restaurant in Greektown...nom). Today at the conference...muffins for breakfast. And I can tell it is making me sleepy...it can't just be the presenter. I'm hoping the lunch is a little better for me. OTOH - I did get a 30 minute run in this morning...treadmill in the hotel. I plan to get in a 40 minute or so run tomorrow morning before the conference day #2 starts. Fly home tomorrow night (hopefully - weather has been stupid), but will spend all Sunday with daughter at a travel soccer game. HIM training program begins officially on Sunday (although I'm rearranging to deal with this travel & soccer). |

Extreme Veteran 692 England | Subject: RE: Fred D and Queen Zipp's SWIM, BIKE RUN consistency thread.... CLOSED Timely question about shoes and pedals. That's one of this years upgrades I have planned. At the moment I'm still on SPD's with shimano road shoes, which I've had for 3 years, but with the new bike it's time for a change. Any suggestions welcome. If people post their weights I'll get the table done in the morning. Been having some computer problems but hopefully sorted now. |

CLOSED Weight = 153.4 I use road shoes (can't remember what brand because they're forever old) w/ SPD. Just ordered new pedals for my new bike (to be named soon) - SPD. I'm so used to them now (and will be so unused to my tri-bike), I wanted to stick with the familiar. |

CLOSED Fred D - 2013-04-12 3:15 PM Destroyed by another on call up all night.... Did get some training in despite it all. Weight is still at 166. Lastly bought new pedals for my road bike. I was using cheap Looks made of plastic, I got a great deal on some carbon Keos, put them on today. I also have ordered new bike shoes. Been waiting a LONG time for the 2013 S-works road shoes in RED. Awesome reviews and I have love, love, loved my 2010 S-works shoes. Won't EVER go back to tri shoes. Hey what bike shoes do people like or use here???? How come? |

Royal(PITA) 14270 West Chester, Ohio | Subject: RE: Fred D and Queen Zipp's SWIM, BIKE RUN consistency thread.... CLOSED I do have tri shoes for my race bike, they didn't have any Look Keo's when I was getting the pedals put on so I have a pedal that my clip in/ out is very similar to the Look Keo I have on the road bike. My road shoes are pretty old and still look to be in decent shape with changing the cleats periodically. |

Champion 6107 Out running or enjoying a fine glass of red... | Subject: RE: Fred D and Queen Zipp's SWIM, BIKE RUN consistency thread.... CLOSED I forgot all about the rule that red is fast! I bought a new pair of tri shorts yesterday and picked black...but they did offer red. (On the other than, I'm not sure about how my hindend would look all decked out in red....) Today is the first official day of my HIM training - starting with BT's 20-week program (21 weeks out, since I'm going to Disney for over a week in June). Excited. Nervous. And ready to be home, because this work conference is wreaking havoc on my eating. |

CLOSED Fred D - 2013-04-12 5:54 PM SSMinnow - 2013-04-12 6:33 PM Tri shoes were never as comfortable for me with more hot spots and overall discomfort. The S-works uses a Boa system and has very even pressure on the foot. It's extremely stiff and light. Also in the colder riding weather I prefer a covered road shoe over an open type tri shoe. Also they are red and we all know red shoes are Fast. Fred D - 2013-04-12 3:15 PM Destroyed by another on call up all night.... Did get some training in despite it all. Weight is still at 166. Hey what bike shoes do people like or use here???? How come? Makes sense. I used to wear SIDI road shoes, but they starting giving me hotspots in really long rides. Went to Northwave Tri shoes and they run a heck of a lot bigger/wider in the same size 37 shoe so no hot spots. I have yet to learn the whole "keep your shoes on the pedals" concept, but I am sure they would help there too with only one velcro strap instead of 3. |

Royal(PITA) 14270 West Chester, Ohio | Subject: RE: Fred D and Queen Zipp's SWIM, BIKE RUN consistency thread.... CLOSED My HRM didn't click on when I hit it at the start of the 10K. I caught it at mile 1. Most of the splits are pretty consistent in the 9:20-9:30 range so I am pretty comfortable saying my time was between 58-59 min. No PR....but given the costume SNAFUS it's okay. Had to hold up the bottom of the hula hoop the entire race cause it kept flipping around. Needless to say, future costumes will be less detailed. |

Expert 1023 , | Subject: RE: Fred D and Queen Zipp's SWIM, BIKE RUN consistency thread.... CLOSED Hey Judi, nice race and fun costume. It's great that you could race since you were having trouble with your ankle the last couple of days. I use Specialized Tri Vent shoes, but I don't do anything fancy like leaving them clipped on the bike, or taking my feet out before I dismount. My feet are wide so my shoes are good and snug. I use speedplay pedals because I like the 2 sided entry. I've lost 9 pounds down to 191, and it's definitely helped my running. I want to get down to 185 for race season. Anything below that and I feel a little too thin, and my wife definitely thinks I'm too skinny. |

It's interesting updating from the previous table. Comparing current weights and goals to previous goals, it looks like we're all doing well so far. Keep up the good work! |
