haha...you are right.  Tell her not to feel bad.  It was a proud moment for me.  I don't think I have ever given so much at a race!

And yeah for Friday!  Time for the happy dance!

Newtons1st - 2010-01-21 9:21 PM The fence post post was hilarious. BvD Kristy saw the video and said she feels bad for you. I told her not to you earned it with the sub 2:00. Sweet on all the bike pron. I know being on vacation and not around a computer is so odd. Will still be out until Thursday.

I've been to the doctor. I was on an antibiotic for 10 days (sinus infection) along with nyquil and dayquil for symptoms. I'm still taking the dayquil for the cough and have pretty much stayed out of the water. It sounds like I should continue doing so. Thanks for the feedback.

I think my CT trainer is fixed!  The guy I bought my CT from just left my apt.  He replaced the motor and noticed that the software was running very slow and noticed that my graphics card wasn't working properly with the software.  We ended-up loading the software on my old dinosaur laptop and it works great!  I've ridden it for 20 min straight without any problems.  Tonight will be a good test when I have a longer ride.

Mount Royal Sprint Triathlon- April 11/10 First tri event. Mothers Day 10km run - May 9/10 first 10km distance race. Sylvan Lake sprint May 29/10.... Too soon after the mothers day? I am not looking to win but if I do not improve I will be bummed...This race is in the town I spent my summers growing up and I have lots of family that would come out to see me race, I would like to do it, but I don't want to risk the gains I have made so far by going too hard, too fast... What are the groups opinions on this?

If you are properly trained for the 10k I don't see too many problems with the sprint.  You'll need to take a lesson from all those guys who did the half just a bit a go and make sure you do some active recovery right after the 10k and make sure you don't let the post-race blues get you on your couch after the race.  And volume wise it should be no problem training for a sprint and a 10k at the same time.  IMO go for it.

It's quite ironic you ended up going with the old laptop.  Sometimes old is better.  Glad you got it working.  Now go put some miles on it.

Just got back from a 37 mile ride out to Kemah with IKenOttSwim and Keri. Average was about 15.5 and the ride was a very enjoyable easy spin. Keri mixed in some intervals/sprints and had a great ride.

I met my new running bff today!!!  Patello-femoral issues have been a real challenge for me, especially on longer runs.  I've had to walk home more than once after the knee went postal on me, usually after mile 5 or 6.  My orthopod has me doing knee PT to work on balancing quad/ham strength and flexibility, but that hasn't been enough.  I've tried the pat-straps and they're just ok.  Today I used kinesiology tape on both knees (recommended by my LRS) and ran a little over 7.5 and felt GREAT.  No knee pain AT ALL.  This is big.

That is great- congrats. I remember how I felt when I was finally able to run w/out achilles pain...its an amazing feeling to be able to run pain free.  Just don't forget to not overdo it.

I had the total opposite ride today.  It was 'mental toughness day' on my WO plan so I had to ride outside.  37 degrees, windy, raining.  There were times I was absolutely crushing it going downhill and could only manage 14mph!!  Very UNenjoyable, but I did have a strange sense of accomplishment afterwards.  Probably gained more mentally than physically on this one.

Good for you.  I so would have said screw mental toughness.  As a matter of fact, I am so opposed to mental toughness I am moving to Tucson.  HA!  Seriously, I've had some of those days and they do make you a better rideer, especially when the conditions bite during your race.  You'll be like..whatever...  And they make for some really good stories to tell.

Now, go give your bike some loving and clean the chain.

I've heard some good things about that tape but always from articles so you never know what to expect.  Glad it is working.

Went to urgent care today, one chest x-ray and a breathing treatment later I found out this cough is actually bronchitis. Time for antibiotics and a steroid inhaler. Thanks everyone for keeping me out of the water. I had to promise to really take it easy this time.

That sucks.  We totally jumped on the heat wave and enjoyed the warmer temp.  I can't ever live up North again (from Syracuse, NY originally).  Although a front is coming through now the "Frost Bike 50" tomorrow will be anything but frosty in Houston.  Have fun those of you going on that one!

Kim - Congrats on the knee solution! Hopefully, with everything else you are doing, it will be a permanent fix for you. I suffered from it when I was in high school and early college but strength training helped me resolve the issue. I can also agree how much more enjoyable running is when you are pain free!

Justine, Ken, Keri - Great ride today! I'm jealous you have great ride options and so many other BTers to share a morning/afternoon with!

Kevin - Way to get out there and tough it out. I think mental toughness is such a key element to being successful in whatever you do. Of course, sometimes mental toughness crosses the line and becomes craziness, but hey, we're all triathletes here and can understand!

Jessica - Rest up and get well quick! How miserable bronchitis is. Good move taking the group's advice and not pushing yourself, and better too, seeing a doctor. You'll be back in action soon, but listen to your body!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend. I had an awesome swim this morning (I love morning swims!). The pool manager also helped Nik with her stroke, so she'll soon be one to watch in the water. We'll be on the bikes tomorrow morning and then have an afternoon of (watching) football on the agenda.

I want me some of that.  Where did you get it?  Then I'll look like all those cool Olympian folks.  If it feels good, I don't care what people say.
So glad you found something that works!
