Well this is good. My father's bought a 10-slot spot at a cemetery (for himself; doesn't want to be buried in a national/heroes cemetery because we all can't be buried with him) ... so we can all be together for eternity.

I'm okay with that. It's in a really nice park. With a lake, trail, ducks and stuff.

Ducks eh? Sold!

Well, it's all gone to hell now.

My sister and I are slanderous slatterns.

Great Races Manatees!!  Podium spots and new helmets woowhoo!!

I also do not like popcorn, worked at a movie theater in college one summer and we kind of lived off of the stuff, I took giant bags of it home to my roomates I can't even stand the smell of it these days.

Wow. Wow. Wow.

I hardly know what to say.

As you can see from my last few posts, it ain't been easy ...

But this means far more to me in the whole world than I could ever put into words. I started a Manatees Tribute thread in CoJ:

http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=456671

I can't help but be awed, humbled, entertained, and overjoyed with the Manatees every single day.

When I was last depressed and having a difficult time, the far-flung Manatees got together beautiful cards and a most comprehensive get-well care package at Salty's (my co-mentor), who entrusted this priceless packet to, of all things, the U.S.P.S. and then the Indonesian postal service.

We're kind of on island time, so now, a few months later, my precious cargo is here and it couldn't have arrived at a better time. I'm at my folks' place (a very challenging situation under the best of circumstances), sick again (not too badly, I hope), and in desperate need of this loving Manatee cheer.

So many of you have sent love, prayers, messages, and wonderful things--each of you, and these, I cherish.

The heroes of this time are my beloved Manatees. THANK YOU!!!!!

I'm too overwhelmed (and dammit, right now I'm sick again but YIPPEE what a perfect package to receive RIGHT NOW) to read the cards at this moment, but I will open and savor each and they will get places of honor in my Bali home when I come back, and each of you a personal response.

I love you each and all.

YAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYY!!! The Bali post office was not sipping coffee out of a Manatee mug and nibbling on Pop tarts (my theory of your package's whereabouts)!!  I'm so glad it's there with you and having the intended effect (putting a smile on your face in difficult times . . . and filling your belly with Pop Tarts).  I hope you enjoy it all, rest up and feel better.  We love our fearless leader Yanti (aka, the Most Interesting Woman in the World)!!!

Had a great day at the HM yesterday, I found it easy (definitely didn't go hard!)  I decided to keep it as a training run, set out very cruise speed, increased speed at 7km and again at 14km, in fact my last 7km was my fastest and I enjoyed lots of overtaking as i had so much left in my legs.  Thanks Jeff Galloway for all those run/walk tips!

Congratulations on executing your plan!  Thanks for posting the photo too Smile

I think the Folsom Olympic Triathlon is my new favorite. And NO, its not because I came in 3rd in the athena division, OR because I was within 3 minutes of my goal of 3 hours, 30 minutes. It was just downright well done! Aid stations were where they were needed, the courses were great (well, except for the 2nd quarter of the bike, which was ALL uphill in a headwind, but that will be in my RR), and there was even an 'instructional cheerleader' placed at the bike/run out of transition! (even after the race--the guy brought a smile to my face every time I was there!).

Woo hoo!  Podium Finish!

Congratulations Cool

Ah, back from my crazy weekend!

Jo: nice job on the half marathon, I like your pic!  Love the sprint to the finish.

Kate: congrats on podium, yeah, girl!!  I'll take your wine if you don't want it, ha ha ha ha.

Yanti: keep on persevering through your visit with your parental units.  So glad to see your package finally arrived!!  Thanks for the pics!

Salty: 2nd in AG, free race entry and new helmet, woooooo hoooooo!!  Nice job!

Allen: can't wait to read your report, I'm sure it will be a doozy!

Actually, I can't wait to read everyone's reports.  It is always interesting to hear about the event, the actual race performance, and any other anecdotes that get thrown in.  The more anecdotes, the better, IMO.  I will try to get mine together as well.  Here's a teaser, Reader's Digest style, in chronological order: new hockey skates, pool, beer, Cajun food, evil cat, race, 2nd Athena, beer, dancing, beer, drive from DE to PA Mon am early enough to get to work in time.

Oh sweet baby Jesus I am probably happier you received that package than you! I was sure the Manatees had begun to think I took their money and cards for myself! Seriously, I've had some major anxiety. Phhhhhhheeeeeeew! Enjoy, Yanti!

I actually don't like popcorn!

I've done the RR such as it is.  Baptism was okay - I'm not big on Greek Orthodox as a religion, very much pomp and ceremony and less about what it should be.  Poor baby gets stripped naked and it was cold, covered in oil and dunked in a font of water, then priest has to snip a lock of hair and poor Persephone she's not got much and I think he pulled it coz she shrieked!  In fact she cried all the way through.

BUT the feast was good - so much food, even a HM didn't justify what i ate!

I'm tired, a bit depressed this morning, standard for a post race morning.

You look great, and that's a wonderful time, even for a training run.
