Stavros - way to CRUSH your goal!!! I'd be interested to hear what you thought your splits might be and what they actually were, ie where were you stronger that you thought you werent?

Coming off 2 consecutive long race weekends, so last week was a bit light, although I've upped the running. Ran 28 miles for the week including today. Have my last Tri- a HIM - in 3 weeks, so have to keep the training up. Hit it hard this weekend, 50/3 brick yesterday and 10 mile hilly run today. Oh, and bought a new car yesterday to replace my 170k mile pathfinder. First car I ever bought with all the bells and whistles, ford edge. (watching too much kona coverage I guess)

I am home and I am still alive!

Brief run down as I'm about to go out and get fed!!

I had 3 targets for this race:

1. Finish

2. Finish under 6:30

3. Run all of the run.

Seems point 2 was WAY too generous as I finished in 5:27:34, but unfortunately I failed goal 3 as I had to wall a couple of the really steep hills around mile 11.

Really big thanks to you lot for helping me get through this race

That's a great time for your first half!

Fred D - 2012-09-02 3:28 AM Had a brief ride today and then riding longer tomorrow. What's on for training for those not racing?

I've been really ill again ... just a worse continuation of last week's illness, I think. I finally went to a doc (I don't go until I'm in such bad shape that I CAN barely go, I'm just an idiot that way) and two days later the antibiotics and steroids have kicked in (multiple resp infections) and I do feel much better, but I'm trying to take the wise path and still take it easy for a few days. Still had some fever today, in any case.

Hope the meds do their thing and you're on the road to recovery.

Tough race today.  It was windy all day and it was raining the first half of the race.  Had a minor crash, had no power once the first attack was made at mile 40 and couldn't hang on to the first group which was just hammering.  Tucked back in with the second group and actually had to do some work instead of sitting in the draft of the first group like I did last year.  3 of us finally broke away, and I promptly flatted.  Got a wheel change after a few minutes, and I was now outside the police envelope, so I was now chasing on my own and got caught at 5 stop lights/signs.  Basically just time trialed the last 28 miles into the wind and ended up catching and passing about half of the group I was with when I flatted.

full RR to come...

TSimone - 2012-09-02 9:42 PM Hey gang, I've been nursing a hamstring issue for almost 2 months. On the trainer tonight I found that sitting up on the bullhorns eases the discomfort. So should I lower my seat (and slide it back some), add back a spacer on my aero bars, or both? Or just HTFU? I'm not opposed to the latter, just looking for a possible quick fix.

Tom sorry about your hamstrings.

I would adjust anything in the saddle unless the fitter can get some angles.  If you adjust something in the saddle you run a higher risk of making something worst.  Most likely the hamstrings issues have nothing to do with your fit.  If sitting up helps maybe add back the spacer you removed.  What was the thickness of that spacer and where was it?

In the off season you can strengthen your hamstrings and gluts with leg curls machine.

Ok I just registered for Mont-Tremblant 70.3.  I had to pay the 1 day license for the following.

Are you a Triathlon Quebec member?

--- No, I am not a member and need to purchase a one day license CDN$17.25

Question:  Will this race count towards my 2013 USAT ranking?

. I just registered as well James. Definitely won't count in your USAT ranking, but will be a great venue. Me, you and Marc are all in for this race, anyone else in?

Thinking about it....
