I adore cooking and baking. Some days I think I missed my calling to be a chef. When I worked as a server I begged the manager to let me train in the back-of-house on the cook side. I did and it was a blast, but a tad too hectic. Cooking is my relaxation, my zen. Plus I made WAY more money waitressing.

My problem at home is that I will make a dish and have so many leftovers I can't finish them all without either getting sick of it, or it being in the fridge for "too long" in my mind. I've gotten better about half-ing recipes but sometimes it's easier to not do the math

I'm the same way, except that I absolutely thrived on the insane pace of restaurant kitchens.  I love cooking, and I also have trouble cooking for just one.  Even when making "small" amounts, I somehow still end up with enough to completely stuff two people.  It's great when things turn out well, it kinda sucks when things are less than stellar

cgregg - 2013-02-27 1:11 PM Hey Chris - those microSHIFT components that you reviewed... is there any tangible/noticeable improvement with the Arsis group over the White group that you tried?

I'd say there is some weight difference, but I've only ever had my hands on Arsis (Carbon) for a few seconds.

After a few months riding the White stuff regularly, I would probably save a few bucks and buy it again unless I wanted the bling of the Carbon.

Groovy.  I'm leaning toward the Arsis Carbon mostly just because I prefer the more conservative color/look of it because of how I plan to paint my bike. If they had that look for the White group, I'd be all over the savings, I think. I'm going to have to re-check their site for the options, I think.

You've found my weakness.  Cookies and/or Caramel Pretzel Klondike bars will get me to do most anything.

I'm in the, don't like to cook but enjoy baking camp.  Cooking just never did it for me but I do love guys who can cook.

I enjoy baking 100x more as well...even the aromas makes me happier.  Saw a recipe for baked apples with lattice pie crust the other day. Think I'll do those soon. I can smell the cinnamon now!

Advice: Don't nuke bagels. They're not very good when you do that.

This reminded me that there's a whole cache online of "Brownie in a mug", "Cake in a mug" - recipes. Have ya'll seen these? You put stuff like eggs, flour, sugar - in small amounts - in a mug and nuke it for 2 minutes - single serving. So good and very clever.

And you should have seen the pics.  A handsome chef in the background would have only minimally improved my happy thoughts. A handsome, shirtless chef....?

Are they really good?  I may have to do that, because if we may a desert, we either eat it all quickly, or I take it to work and give to others, so I don't eat it all.  I love chocolate.
