Ordering MyAthlete Tracker today.  Note to those of you interested, found this on their website:

PLEASE NOTE – The last day to order for ANY race the weekend of November 5/6 is Wednesday October 26th. MA team members will be away doing their own races this coming weekend so we won’t be at the office to process any new orders after Wednesday.

Ordered the MyAthlete tracker today too. Did last long brick Sun, 4hr ride and 1hr run. Feel great and ready, but nervous as all get out. Hard to concentrate on work.

I have a pikachu thing.  My helmet and sunglasses are "pikachu yellow."  For some reason I relate well to a chubby little thunder rat.

HI TEAM IM FLORIDA!

OK so a few days ago I was really struggling.  I so didnt want to train anymore.  i have heard this is normal but wow i was really down...I gutted it out and rode 80 freezing cold miles and ran 5 on sat then swam in a 62 degree lake on sunday with a ride after...

Now I am in taper...It feels so weird...I feel like my life has been in suspended animation for six months.  I have some runs, swims and a bike or two left...but then its Halloween, packing and then I am in Florida.  I am an emotional wreck.  LOL..  I had a moment on the bike (alone of course) where I just started getting all weepy...I feel I am in the best shape of my life.  I have been without alcohol for almost a month, now I am getting off caffine...Its like so strange..I am the super disciplined person I always knew I could be.  I am so proud of all of us...we trained and trained and stuck to our goals...finish or not...deep down I feel so damn proud of myself for what I have done so far.  I dont hate Ironman anymore (see post from last week)...Im excited, nervous but mostly really ready to go out and slog through my 16 or so hours...BTW I expect to see you all at the finisher store on sunday am...I will be the girl with a bottle of champagne in one hand and her medal in the other...who cares if its 9am?   Its Ironman....

SOOO during my 4000meter boring pool swim I started to doing the math of each sport and T1&T2 and put worst case times in and keep coming getting under 17 hours. Here is what I was thinking and worst case :Swim + T1&T2 : 2hrBike : 8hrRun/walking. : 6hr30mTotal. :16hr30m finishI know can faster but like most on here getting tired of training and ready for ironman week and race

i like that math - first IM, so the thing is finishing. i'm telling everybody that i have 17 hours. every minute less than that is a win. also the injuries and work are getting into the way of a normal training

In response to ChinaExpress's issues:

You never make it through an Ironman training plan without setbacks right?

Well, my setback just came into town. This past weekend, my back was aching and I decided to put off my last long ride until this weekend to give my body some rest and to recover. Unfortunately, this wasn't able to happen. This Monday, I was having a meeting with my boss and I was moving an extra chair into his office. I brought the chair in, not heavy at all, and put it down on the ground. I didn't twist in any weird way at all, but the second I put the chair down, my whole back seized up and I could not stand up straight. Very strange how one small little movement like that can put your whole body down.

Well, since then, I've spent the past 3-4 days in massive amounts of pain. I was in bed for most of Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday with excruciating pain in my hip, low back and shin. The doctor diagnosed it as a pinched nerve/sciatica and I've got some meds now, but nevertheless, I've been on the shelf since last week and am getting a little nervous of IMFL. I've done a decent amount of long rides bricks and culminating with a 100 miler with a 40 min brick two weeks ago. I have also been following the swim and run plan almost to the T (just have not been logging at all).

Any thoughts or ideas on what I should do with the rest of my time? I'm un-officially in taper mode, but should I put in one last push when I am healthy again?

I have had back issues for the last 20 years (and actually had a disc removed 19 years ago). I find I have to stretch constantly on my rides, but hey, it could be worse!

I have also had EXACTLY the same thing happen numerous times over the last few years and I have to say, the best thing for a quick fix (I needed to have it done after it happening to me two weeks before a surfing trip to South Africa) is a cortisone shot directly to the area where the pinching is occurring. After not being able to get out of bed - I surfed 7 to 8 hours a day for two weeks.

just my 2 cents worth

miturner & socks - Thanks for the advice. I've been on a tapering dose of steroids and am planning on going to PT for a few sessions before I take off. I hope to squeeze a massage in before my all day flight from California to PCB. I'll definitely be bringing my new Trigger Point roller to loosen things up in the airport during layovers. It was definitely the best $30 I've spent all year!

Any other first-timers out there feel like you are sitting in a car on a roller coaster going up the first hill?  Too late to back out, so all you can do is wait as you tick up to big drop.  Less than 2 weeks to race, click, click, click, click....

Hope you are feeling better.  FYI they will have ART and massage therapists on site.  The ART guys are free.  immediately after the race the massages are frre but in the days leading up to the race they do charge you

I've been using the Power Bar - Pure and Simple Energy Bars (Roasted Peanut Butter). Easy to carry, easy to chew up. Tried a few other bars and these work best for me, some bars I felt like I was choking trying to drink it down was taking to much effort.

May toss a PBJ in the SN bag.

How many of you have a list or lists going?

Accomplished today:

Today my new Pro 3 Lights arrived so I can put them for 4 hour ride tomorrow
Bought 2 more am/pm pill containers for Nuuns and Salt Tabs back ups in SNs
Bought black zip ties in 3 sizes which are needed for my TorHans aerobottle & speed sensor

I have a box upstairs and need to start my pile of bike stuff and nutrition.

I've got two dining room tables in my bike room that were cleared off and now have "The actual transitions/SNbags/pre-race pile" (with a cat sleeping it currently) and a "the rest of the week's workouts and spare stuff" pile.

I may pack one pair of jeans, a pair of drawers, one tshirt and a pair of non running shoes if I remember.

Got my list going and started to lay my things out. I can't put pics on as my camera died this week and have another on order. I have a Felt B14 and will be wearing a Orca black dark blue and light blue tri suit. Probably have a light blue windbreaker if it's chilly. This is my first and it does feel like riding a coaster! I am so ready for the down hill. Have a 3000 swim, 8 mile run and 3 hour bike left this week. Doing the Wicked 10K for fun on sat with some friends.

I have been living on uncrustables this entire summer for all my rides. Keep them frozen and by the time eat them they are defrosted and great!
