I got mine yesterday... Hmmm... maybe that's why my left arm was so sore today??

I contemplated a flu shot - never gotten one before and the company's free program started this week. I hear about people getting flu-like symptoms (yes I know it's not the "real" flu but it's all the same to me!) so if I do it's going to be after the race.

My arm was LITERALLY disabled after my tetanus shot this spring. I could not move it for the better part of 3 days. It was awful. I hope the flu shot is not like that.

It was mandatory for me to get a flu shot last year with the immigration medical exam that I had to do, and I was healthier last year (no colds, flu, etc.) than I've been in a looooooong time, so I figured I might as well get it again since this time work was paying for it.

So far I've had no adverse reactions other than a slightly sore arm.

Happy RIOW, y'all.

We can do better than this, TAN!

I'm being bombarded at work. Naturally - it's 2 days before my vacay.

The job is making me work today, too.  Bah!
I need a j-o-b where I don't have to work, or show up, but I get paid a lot.

Somebody, make it happen for me... I don't have time for that.

 Where ya going for vacay??

Chicago! We got a little BT girlzzz (and Tony and Mr. Meh too) meet-up happening Friday night. Then there's a little marathon on Sunday.

Oh, duh.... I forgot all about y'alls little jogging party!  Sounds like a lot of fun is to be had.

Flu shots -- I was just thinking about them this morning because work has put out a sign-up sheet for the free shots.  I never get them.  20 years of no shots and 20 years of no flu.... I like my way better

same here - I was in meetings from 8 am to 6 pm, including the 8 - 1230 where every other word out of the plant manager's mouth was "clearly that is Marilyn's responsibility."

PUKE.

Bizzare dream night. I dreamt that I was in room 1532 for a convention. The room allowed the elevators to stop in my room and the bed was a top bunk with only a curtain separating it. I complained and the staff said that I booked it that way.

That and I had to clean up dog puke at 2:30AM.

Post. It was if they brought furniture into the elevator bay lobby and assigned that as my room.

Then its clear. The furniture being brought up to the room is clearly representative of the dog bringing up whatever was unsettling his stomach. This has to be linked to something in your thought process that is unsettling in the way of not able to digest it mentally. The fact that you're only behind a curtain with many onlookers in a strange place is that you find yourself exposed to the world in an uncomfortable setting. No where to go.

Happy Friday Eve, y'all!

Having the girlfriend and her daughters over for dinner tonight.  It's a Monsters University kinda night... the movie on the TV and popcorn from a MU tin.  The girls have been bugging us for a month to get this movie (even though it *just* became available).

Happy Friday Eve TAN!

So, some people are really trying to do something for "Boss's Day" in the office next week with bringing in treats, making posters, putting up decorations, etc.

Does anyone else do this?

I loved Monsters Inc. and really wanted to see Monsters University, but I guess I'll wait a little longer for it.  I'm a total sucker for the cartoon movies.

I *think* we're going to try to go see Gravity at the Imax theater on Monday.  Has anyone seen that one yet?

Posters? Tee hee
No, we don't participate in that. I've never worked anywhere that does. Being my boss is a gift in itself

When is "worker bee" day? I want a poster and decorations too..

I would argue "Bosses Day" is the same then. Especially since they get paid way more!

Funny story. My boyfriend said his boss wanted to give their administrative assistant a bonus since she went above and beyond on a special project. He was like "yeah good idea, how much are you thinking?"

$25K

Clearly I am working for the wrong company.

I don't work for any company. I'm one of those government takers.

Any TANners familiar with DIY electronics circuits?

I'm toying with the idea of teaching myself electronics enough to build an RFID reader (including home built antennae).

A coworker is a race director and has told me how much the timing mats and stuff cost, and I'm fairly certain that I could build all of that stuff WAY cheaper, and I know that I could write software to read the incoming data.

I have a feeling that timing mats are expensive because they (including the software) are designed to handle recording a high volume of chips simultaneously without dropping any chips.

Actually, that was Gene Roddenberry's social statement about inter-racial romance. Star Trek is filled with social statements like that.

I'm semi-positive that the mats themselves are just rubber covers over an antenna (or array of antennaes).  The controller box, which is what I'm looking to build, should be a function of a microcontroller and some software.... I think.

If nothing else, it should make for an interesting project.... just trying to find a place to root myself to start.

You know in interviews where they will cut to the interviewer and they give a little head nod like they are intently listening? Turns out they film all of that separate from the actual interview. My camera man was all about it today.

Nod nod nod. Smile. Look deep in thought. Nod. Tilt head the other way, nod some more. Yell

I never knew they filmed that stuff separately or actually prompted people for that stuff, but I never doubted that they took creative license in splicing that stuff in there for "dramatic effect".

Training our bodies to work efficiently in Zone 2 will help us keep our HR and pace even throughout an Ironman. This theory would hold true for the bike and run portion of an Ironman race.
