I'll ask the other captians but I know last year that wasn't allowed.  Also PLEASE double check the spreadsheet.  There has already been one error caught this week (I did the sheet before my morning coffee).  Thanks.

So if we cannot take out their goals, can the rest of us take one for the team and take on their goals to be met by us. I know I will go over the 20000 and would be willing to push harder to take on hopefully all of jzat 's total (7100 to go), being that we live in the same neighborhood, that should count for something!

By the way first ever 3000 yd workout today! yeah for me! Taking the total to 15800!

Well, I did indeed get 1500yds in this morn. It was kindof slow...my shoulder was complaining a bit. It feels OK though, just tender a little. My total so far is now at 10,200yd///12,000yd.
So I believe I will make it handily. If I can get some extra yds and it is allowed I will give them to the folks that are injured. Have a great week everyone!!!

GO BLIZZARDS!!!!

I don't have a final ruling from the captians yet on the "donating" yards yet but it doesn't look like it will happen.  It has never been done that way and one of the thoughts is if you go over your goal you set the bar too low.

I did share that for some this challenge is a way of opening thier eyes to the potential they have and that yes they may have underestimated thier goal but letting them give the extra to a nother swiminer is an incentive to keep swimming.

I do want to share my thought on the injured swimmers - DO NOT HURT YOURSELF FURTHER BY SWIMMING FOR THE SAKE OF THE CHALLENGE!  I for one would much rather lose the challenge than see someone make an injury worse.  So please help me sleep better at night and not swim if  you are injured.

I got in 1859 yards this AM.

Yeah, maybe I underestimated my ability. This has opened my eyes though as to how much I have improved. When I did my first super sprint last summer - it was 220 yards. I nearly DIED trying to train for it and barely finished the swim during that race. I then went on to 500 yards but at the time, I was only training to 600-800 meters MAX! So although I may be relatively slow in comparison and not quite up to major yardage - I've come a long way! Pat pat on my back !

I have some clearance to spin and run a bit so if they are willing to allow some kind of conversion, I would be happy to give it a stab.  I am in this sling at least three weeks but dont plan to just let my arse go all jello.  I hope they will consider a substitute.  If not, my apologies to the team for having a paper mache shoulder tendon.

In past challenges once a participant was injured they were removed from the spreadsheet.  That was to keep someone who is injured from trying to continue and making the injury worse.

Are they not allowing "us" to remove injured swimmers?

Shifting yards to an injured buddy is noble, but won't do much. For the Sept. run challenge, the moderator was gracious enough to remove me when I sprained my ankle (running) on September 1.

I guess the question would be how far along towards the monthly goal jszat was at the time of the "incident"? If jszat could point to the plan showing he'd swam all of the planned workouts to that date he/we should get credit for 100%. Now, if he were to become "injured" on December 29, with only 5% of his swim goal, that would seem a little suspicious to other teams... so don't make us send Vinnie out to collect

Awsome swims to the rest of the blizzards!!

Pirates of the Caribbean... Part 2 I forget the actual name of the movie... But there was water involved... so does that count? I mean the Caribbean is an actual sea and everything.

For what it's worth, I will not be on target this week but I will make up for it in the end.  Stupid move on Monday shortened my swim to 1000 yards (rammed finger into end of pool thereby practically removing my fingertip) and blood in the pool would not have been a good thing...out of town for the next week...but WILL make my goal in time!  Keep at it Blizzards!

Hey team,

Keep up the good work!!  I have to apologize for my efforts, but I screwed up my shoulder shoveling snow, and well it has taken much longer to heal then I thought.  Although, I can lift my arm above and behind my head now, swimming (free style at least) isn't in the cards.  So, I contacted DRM to see if we could make some kind of amendment.  They are working on it, but it sounds like they will reduce my goal based on how long I was out.  The injury happened in the beginning of the month, but I have been doing some breast stroke/side stroke/kick (whatever didn't hurt) to get in my yardage.  To add insult to injury (pun intended), I have to get my knee scoped tomorrow, so needless to say, I am probably not going to get much swimming in the rest of the month.

I will do what I can, but again these "acts of God" are beyond my control.  I will continue to root for the team, and do whatever I can.

Thanks for understanding.

OK Blizzards,  looking at the results, we're still MOP.  Now during a race, MOP is fine with me, but the stakes here are pretty high.  Anything less than FOP (that would be FIRST) results in an avatar and signature change paying homage to those teams finishing ahead of us.  Boooo...Hisssss....  I know we've got a few out due to injury, but the rest of us need to deliver.  We all sport the revised avatar and signatures, even if only one or two of us don't make the goal.

10 days, break the ice if you have to, but find some water and swim some yards!!

Got a phone call this morning, work was closed for the day - due to the Bizzard Warnings, more than the actual accumlation at the time.  So what did I do?  I had breakfast with the family and then went to the pool.  The Blizzard got me more water time today than the schedule otherwise would have allowed - Yeah Blizzard let's rock the rest of the month.

Way to go jcjsc00!  Use that Blizzard to your advantage.  You can send some of that snow my way as i am dying to get out cross country skiiing (and am sick of looking at the brown terrian).

I am done swimming for the month.  My pool closes today.  I have met my goal and exceed it (by 800 yds) and exceeded last months yardage (by the same 800 yds) in only 20 days!

Keep blasting away BLizzards!

EDIT:I got in my longest swim of the season so far. 1700 yds! .**..Actually it is not the longest just the longest with out breaks.** My arm is a little sore but managable.
That brings my total to 11,900 of the 12,00 I commited to do. I'm glad that I don't have a bunch more to do as the pool at the gym is closed a few days next week but I'll be able to get it in before the end of the month. Then....onward and upward. Every one have a Good Winter Solstice and a Happy Holiday Season!!
