Anyone get the Sizzano? They've got my size in all of them, the others are Campy. Any thoughts on Campy vs. Shimano (in a brief comparison...?)

I personally wouldn't fret over Campy vs. Shimano. This is really just the shifters & deraileurs and on a tri-bike with bar-end shifters, it's probably not much differnece.

I went with the Varese over the Sizanno due to closer ratio gears, aerobar setup, the Kenda Koncept tires suck (500 miles and they're done), carbon seatpost, well, that was enough.

Received my son's Parma today (ordered it Monday).  Very cool how quickly it came.  Built it up tonight.  Basically attaching bars, running cables from bars to brakes and derailleurs.  Extra housing for cables came in the box containing manuals, parts, aerobars.  Just needs some minor tweaking to the front derailleurs and he'll be good to go.  The bikes probably a touch big for him but I don't think I'll be able to keep him off it.  Probably will switch out stem for something a little shorter just to get him to his next growth spurt.  He's psyched that his bike came with aerobars although I'm going to have to negotiate with him when they get added.  Was educating him around the fact that his wheels are 700c which are the same size as what's on my bikes.  Now he's telling me I need to buy a set of Zipps so that he can borrow them when he does his kid's tri later this summer.

This was one hell of a deal.  Now I'm trying to get my daughter to decide if she wants a road bike too so that I can buy her one at this price.

Thanks Bear!

I got the Sizzano, I already have a Narni that I used last year to race with. I got the Sizzano to train on.  My LBS, the closest one, is a Shimano Guy. So I have that to put the miles on and the Narni that I take to the farther away LBS,  is my race bike. I will have the Sizzano back in a few days. Then I'll post a pic.

Did anyone else have a problem with the cables not being long enough?

I bought the 59cm Garda and had to have the cables replaced on setup. Makes me mad, too, because the bar tape looked so good, and it had to be removed. Grrrr.

Oh, and, does anyone know what the torque specs are for the carbon seat post?

I talked to Geoff today...since my roadie is a 44cm frame and fits me well I'm nervous about ordering a 47cm tri bike, even with 650s (I have 650's on my roadie anyhow).  Looks like Geoff's recommendations have all been solid...any complaints/no fits out there???

Thanks...and thanks to you too Bear

I have had this problem, but it is just with the front brake cable housing (on my narni) not being long enough. I can add an adapter doohickey and another piece of cable housing for the front brake and be all set. This was the only issue on all of the bikes which I ordered and built for friends etc....

I have no idea about the carbon seat post but would be interested to find out!

Sounds like Javelin has made some inroads in the BT camp! Although I didn't mind being lonely (Javelin bikes are like a well kept secret) there's something to following your own path and not riding the same bike that you'll see lined up by the dozen at every race you're at.

This will be my second season on my Arcole and I'm still lovin' it - I thought I'd post a Slowtwitch review of some of Javelin's tri bikes for those still sitting on the fence on this deal:

I've been looking at everyone's sizes on this thread....any short people out there taking advantage of this deal, and how was your fit?  I'm really worried that even the 47 with 650s will be too big, although Geoff seemed to think it would be ok....at the LTS Terry did some measurements, and some math, and came up with my "size" at a 44.87.  I'm having a tough time finding anyone that makes a tri bike, even women's specific, that small.  QRoo is coming out with one for 2008 but none of the shops I"ve contacted has it yet, and I actually like the Varese more anyhow...

I e-mailed about the torque on the seat post. There are no torque specs published on the seat post, so 'hand tight' is the answer; and, if you are really strong, choke up on the wrench so you don't get much leverage. HTH

stupid bad weather. Boss was like you can leave at 3 and work from home to beat traffic. I was like sweet roads seem ok and I will go out and get my bike tonight. no such luck. there was a bad accident and I was greatly delayed. Plus road conditions between me and javalin are really starting to suck. I live 9 miles from them and I might need to get the bike shipped.

I picked my Fara up from the bike shop today... just before it started SNOWING several inches. Arrr... Well it's not like I fit on that itty bitty bike seat anyway who am I kidding, so I have to get a wider seat before I can test run. Shame because it came with such a nice seat.

Seems the frame is just a smige too big for me but I'll figure out how to make it work. A fitting would be REALLY nice but I just can't afford one after all this.

BTW I ended up getting the Look Keo pedals for now.

Yep, Fara 51 and I'm 5'5 it was the smallest it came. I'm probably more of a 49...

Can someone who bought the Fara Please Please Pllllleeaseee tell me what all came in those 2 clear plastic bags of bike parts?

We realized when getting home there were no reflectors and I remember seeing those in the bags and the bike shop said they will put some on for us, but I want to make sure I'm not missing anything else important that I should have.

Thanks...

I got the Sizzano. Rode about 15 on it this morning.. There are a few things I wish came different on it like the wheels and tires and I HATE the aerobars. Just ordered some replacement clip on bars to replace the slam extensions... Fit was great. Im 5'9.5 and got a 55.

Ideal Muse,

I had my Fara shipped direct to my LBS, so I didn't see any of the bags of parts. Mine did come with reflectors --maybe you can tell from the picture if you have everything?

Overall, I'm very happy with this bike. The only disappointment was that I didn't realize the Campy Veloce shifters have thumb triggers for downshifting as opposed to two levers on the brake mechanism. Beyond that, though, its perfect entry level for me. The 51cm fits fine (I'm 5'6", and needed minimal adjustment and no parts switched out. If I had the cash, I'd slap it down on a Narni in addition to this one right now -- just to have a road bike and another tri-specific both ready to go when the wind chill climbs above 20F.

So, without further ado, I give you my Fara,

Great Odin's Raven

If you want some reflectors please let me know. I can send them to you as we didn't use any on the bikes we ordered....Also if you want to sell the saddle let me know :-). I don't really like the fi'zik one that came on my bike.

Got my fit done today.  Provided it remains comfortable (I'll be on the trainer a lot still until this stupid snow melts anyway-so I'll be able to really test the aero positioning out), I have a pretty aggressive position going.

Naw - your butt hides the saddle and your feet will be spinnin' to fast to notice - if you ain't riding her it don't matter how pretty she is
