I luv challenges Jen, do you have time to add a column to our spreadsheet that shows how far we are in the month? I think that's really helpful so the month doesn't get away from me -- kinda like getting on the scale everyday (which I should do more of ) If you can, thanks! If not, no sweat. |

Elite 3471 Evergreen, CO | Subject: RE: Team Amazing Atoms KathyG - 2008-04-06 8:43 PM For those of you who are uncomfortable in aero on your bike, have you had a bike fit? I ride in aero 95+% of the time and was comfortable within a couple weeks riding..I even corner, go down hill and climb some hills in aero. With a good fit it can make you sore. If you are sore or uncomfortable it is a fit issue. I did get fitted, and am in aero on the trainer, but feel a little wobbly getting in and out of the aerobars when I'm on the road. I think I'm slightly unbalanced Never could ride with no hands. And until I start carrying water bottles I've usually got a backpack on that doesn't help matters. Looking forward to practicing. |

Yeah!!! Great job!! I'm going to post an answer about the spreadsheet here in case anyone else is having problems. If you follow the link at the bottom of the table, the spreadsheet might be view only. You can get access to edit by going to docs.google.com. Then log in as: username: [email protected] You can also give yourself access to the spreadsheet. Once you log in and open our spreadsheet, click on the 'share' tab on the upper right side. You can enter your address as a collaborator and that should give you access. |

There should actually be one of these on the spreadsheet already. Look on the top row - A2 and A3. I can also add one near the bottom of the sheet if you want, too. |

I need to have a big workout day tomorrow since I ate 2 bowls of cherry ice cream for dinner just now. Bad Susan!!! At least there were real cherries and milk in it..... But was it good? I wanted to buy some Ben and Jerry's ice cream at the store Monday but 350 calories for 1/2 cup...who can eat just a 1/2 cup..so I ended up with Lemon and Raspberry Sorbet only 110 per 1/2 cup and if I eat the whole container (doubt I can) only 440 calories. Last night I planned to swim, had my stuff in the car, but one of my kids had an issue I needed to home to help with. So today I will swim first, then ride for fun as it should be beautiful. Riding makes me happy and gives me peace and I need that now. I have been feeling overwhelmed with so much to do and if any little thing comes up I can't get everything done. Soccer season is so frustrating..this week 6-7 games and 4 practices and a coach that degrades the kids (told the team I won't let me daughter play with that coach ever). Fit in training is tough at times...my coach told me to ride for fun when the weather is nice even though it isn't ideal for training plan it is good for my mental health.

Champion 6107 Out running or enjoying a fine glass of red... | Subject: RE: Team Amazing Atoms Mmmm. Ice cream.... This is a sucky busy week for me, so my training has been a little sketchy - also I'm doing back-to-back races, also giving me sketchy mileage...but after this weekend, both the real-life stress and the races will be done for a while, so I can just get out there and log my miles. A little 3-mile run this morning. Hoping to fit in a swim between teaching and a faculty meeting this afternoon (or at the very least, a couple of laps during one of my daughter's swim lessons tonight). |

Master 1289 Franklin, TN | Subject: RE: Team Amazing Atoms Morning swimmy-swim today. Right under a mile. 44 mins and some change. May do a single session with a coach to see if I can speed up my time w/o wearing myself out physically (for the bike and run). I see people here on BT doing 100 yards in what it takes me to do 50 (1:15'ish). I follow Terry Laughlin's perspective, especially his book "Triathlon Swimming Made Easy." I'm doing 25 yards in 21 to 23 strokes and I absolutely cannot bring it down under 21. Swim, bike, run numbers for the month are right on target. Will catch up on the weights/abs later this week and weekend. Terry |

I'm soooo slow I start to sink After all that ice cream I should float better tonight..... Did strenght w.o. Run and swim tonight. Happy Humpday all!!!! Oops! I hope I didn't come across like I was tooting my own horn! I was just really frustrated this morning in that no matter how hard I try, I can't lower my times and/or stroke count w/o wearing myself out. One guy in another thread was complaining about his 1:30 or 1:40 100-yard time. I almost got offended! I certainly hope I didn't come across the same way. Just looking to see if anyone else has found a magic bullet that made them faster w/o expending too much more energy. Some things that help me from "sinking" are: Keep about an inch of water over the back of the swim cap; this lowers my head and raises my hips thus giving more "balance" in the water. Keep my feet just below the water's surface, don't break the surface of the water with the kick. Rotate my body fully (i.e. - "stack" my shoulders) to face the pool wall when breathing; don't twist the neck. Rotating on every stroke doesn't hurt either. Expel every ounce of air thru my nose, mouth closed, when exhaling - this keeps carbon dioxide from building up in ye olde lungs. This is a good thing to do when running or cycling too (maybe not the mouth closed part). Imagine your body going thru the smallest hole in the water possible, etc. Most of this I picked up from Laughlin's book. |
